So in case you haven't heard, last year DC Comics did a reboot, canceling ALL their titles and restarting the whole universe over. Pffft, dumb idea.

Back in 1978, as a 9 year old lil Polt, I had already for a few years, been buying comics. Every Thursday when I got my allowance, I went with mom to the local strip mall. She went to the grocery store, I went to the book store. I went to the squeaky, metal rack that rotated around and held all the comics. I'd find the ones that had the coolest looking covers, and buy those.

But that summer, the summer or 1978, I picked up Justice League of America 158. It was the first of two parts and I figured I better make sure I got the second part so I knew what happened. And after that, I decided I'd like to just get every issue, and that's what started my comic book collecting. In those ensuing 33 years, I've collected every issue of the Justice League, be it Justice League Of America, Justice League America, Justice League International, Justice League Europe, Extreme Justice, or any of the ensuing titles.

Now, back to the idoitic reboot. There have been 5 issues so far of the new Justice League, and frankly, it sucks. Superman whines. No longer is he a paragon to be admired and looked up to, he's just a whiner. Green Lantern is obnoxious, probably from being protrayed like the Ryan Reynolds character in the movie last year, I understand they may be playing up the "Man Without Feat" aspect, but frankly he's just arrogant and stupid. Wonder Woman is vicious ("Those beams come from his eyes." "Then we'll put out his eyes!" she says brandishing a sword.) Aquaman is...well nowhere near developed character-wise, he does well in his own title, but not here. The Martian Manhunter, one of the founders of nearly every incarnation, is nowhere to be seen. No, in his place is...Cyborg. Yep, him. He who is a decent enough B-grade character, but to be a founder of the JLA? Nah, no way. Only reason I can figure that he's there is to have a black character as a founder. Whatever the reason it's stupid. And Batman, who knows none of these people and just meets them, takes off his cape and cowl in front of Green Lantern (and coincidently, anyone else who's in viewing range) and tells him he's Bruce Wayne, someone GL's apparently never heard of. WHA??? I guess in this rebooted universe, there is no WayneCorp and Bruce Wayne's not famous the world over. But the bigger issue is Batman revealing who he is, in public to someone he just met? No fucking way. The only one of the seven that's done even remotely like he should be is The Flash. And that's good. Its just unforunate the rest of the team is so badly written. And Judd Winnick, I believe is the writer, and usually a good one, so it's quite surprising he's responsible for all this horrible characterization.

I'm trying out several of the titles, giving them six months each. If they don't grab me in six months I'm gonna drop them and not collect them anymore. And there's seveal titles I already expect to get rid of. And with the unmitigated disappointment this new JLA is, it may be one of them. And that would be the first time in 33 years I was not collecting the JLA.

A shame that, really. A bigger shame DC Comics has done this insanity to begin with.

Tonight mom and I went looking for a new car for her. (Have I mentioned she had an accident about ten days ago? She's fine, never even had a stiff neck, but her car ended up being totalled, per the insurance company.) She found two used Volkswagen Jettas, and has all the paperwork on both of them and is reviewing it all right now. She'll make her decision soon and may have the car by as soon as Friday.

But afterwards, we wanted supper and she suggested Five Guys. Neither of us had ever been there before, so that's where we went. I've heard people rave about it, especially about the fries, how great they are and how much they give you.

After eating there, I can say I was completely underwhelmed. The burgers were...fine. The fries, okay. But neither of them were anything special. And the cost for both our meals totaled over $21. Wha??? I can go to Waynesburger, get a better burger, less fries, and a soda for like $8. I can get all that for two for $16. The price for what we got wasn't worth it.

Mom loved it and said she'd definitely come back. I said, Meh. I'd probably eat there again if I was with someone who wanted to, but I wouldn't suggest it myself, or choose to go there on my own.

Frankly, it was quite a disappointment.

I recently finished season 2 of Voyager. Seeing it one episode after the other makes it a lot less horrible than it is when viewed seperated by a week at time or when seen disjointedly in reruns. But dont get me wrong, it's still horrid. I'll prove this with two simple words:

"Threshold" and "Clown".

Nuff said, eh?

In addition, I recently finished the book "Upstairs At The White House".

It's a memoir, told by one of the Chief Ushers of the White House from 1941-1969. For me, it was extremely interesting, giving the author's personal take of the various First Ladies (Eleanor Roosevelt, Bess Truman, Mamie Eisenhower, Jackie Kennedy, Lady Bird Johnson, and Pat Nixon). It gave a lot of details of how the White House works and things that happened during that time period. And for a Presidential History junkie like me, this was like crack cocaine. I don't suppose it would appeal to many people, but for what it was, it was outstanding.

ME: Um..........I HAVE an ironing board?
MOM: Yeah, it's in your basement, I moved it when we were moving everything for the plumbers, and it's not heavy, and grandma's is too heavy for her, so I thought we could exchange them, maybe?
ME: Um, well since I didn't know I even had an ironing board, I'd say she could just take it.
MOM: But then you wouldn't have an ironing board, if you don't get hers.
ME: I didn't even know I had the one I have now, surely I'm not going to miss it.

Last Thursday Kris and I watched two movies and today I finished up a DVD set.

"The Animatrix"

This is nine animated short movies relating to (in some cases in very obscure ways) the Matrix Trilogy. The films range in quality from mildly entertaining to bizarre, overdone, trippy and uninteresting. I owned this CD and I had watched it before a few years ago, and actually fell asleep while watching it. And this time, cuddle up next to Kris with his arms around me, I actually drifted off for a few seconds again. Both of us agreed, overall, the whole thing sucked. As it went on, it just got worse and worse. The animation was quite good, even if the plots and such were terrible. I suppose should I ever be high again in my life, this would be something worth watching. Otherwise, I'll probably never play the stupid thing again.

"Go"

I hadn't seen this movie in a while and Kris had never seen it, so we watched it. I have always loved the movie, and Kris did as well after watching it. It's quirky, fun, funny, and has quite a few unexpected and strange turns in it. It's got tons of famous people in it. And it even has some hot shirtless guys for people like me, and some tittie-shots for the straight guys among you. I would highly reccommend that if you haven't seen it, you watch it right now. You'll definitely enjoy it.

"Star Trek: Voyager, Season 1"

Just let me say, after watching it one episode after another as opposed to watching it sporadically as it aired, that the series is not as bad as I had thought it was. Oh, dont get me wrong, it's not really good either, but it's not the mass of stinking dog poop I thought it was. There's still the Kazon, and Chakotay's Indian mystic crap, and Janeway's changing horrid hairdos, and Neelix (the photo above is when his lungs were removed...and unfortunately, he did not die), and that episode where Tuvok uses a dog, a DOG for God's sake, to solve a murder mystery. And I think that says it all.

So last Thursday night, I picked up Kris after work and he spent the night. This was quite pleasing, as I thought the previous Sunday/Monday stayover would be the last. And since this would be his last night in the area (he was moving to Richmond on Friday afternoon), I thought he'd want to spend it with his friends and not me. But that probed inaccurate.

We had originally planned on going to see "The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo" and get dinner before coming back here. But in thinking about it, I came to realize that would mean we'd have limited amounts of time together, alone. So instead I suggested we just come back here to watch movies and eat. Which is what we did.

We first watched "The Animatrix", then ordered, picked up, and ate a pizza, and then watched "Go." All while sitting on the couch, cuddling, talking, kissing. It was much better than having to be in a theater and restaurant. After this, we went to bed for betimesexxyfun. And more talking and cuddling. it was fun, Kris was giggley and tickily. It wasn't sad or teary like it had been Sunday night.

I think this time, we both knew it was the last, final time, and we had accepted it, and were just having fun with each other. We weren't worried about being apart, or what have you, we were just more in the moment. We talked, but it wasn't sad or melancholic.

And when we slept, the whole entire night, we were cuddled up against one another. I frequently wake up throughout the night to readjust my position in bed, and that night, everytime I did, we were touching, skin to skin in some fashion. It was a great feeling, safe, comfortable and comforting.

And on the plus side, the final night Kris spent at my house, until Sunday night, we had access to the shower and toilet. Such a small thing, but well, I didn't want his last night with me to be a night of holding his bladder and not showering.

On the way to work Friday, I took him home. I had feared this trip might be awkward or sad or depressing, but it wasn't. We simply held hands and talked pleasantly, like always. And when I parked in front of his car, we kissed goodbye, said we loved each other, and off he went to his apartment and I to work.

That night, I got a text from him. "Made it here alive and I miss you already :( " I told him I missed him too, wished him good luck and told him I'd call him in a few day to talk. He said "okay and thanks. love you love you love you" Which was really sweet I thought and did make me a smidge misty eyed.

I am a bit sad over the whole thing. But not upset or depressed. I do miss him. But he's moving on to bigger and better things, things he couldnt get here. And for that, I'm happy for him and excited. And we're still going to stay in touch via Facebook, texts and calls. And there are tentative plans for me to get a hotel room there in April or May for a weekend, so there will be that. And of course, I'll have to memories.

Course, memories really don't keep you warm, safe and comforted in bed....

Chad, the originator of 12 For The 12th, has wrapped up this and is not doing it anymore. I have decided to continue doing so on my own. And so, without further ado, off we go.

Despite my desire to get to sleep a bit early, I ended up playing Angry Birds (damn addictive game) until after midnight. Right before I turned out the light, I snapped this photo.

Driving to work, it was a damp, rainy, dreary kinda day.

My basement. Yeah, there's a trench through the middle of my basement, and a huge pile of mude and debris sitting where my washer is supposed to be. But at least I can poop in my own toilet and shower in my own shower. All is good with the world.

Kris wore his purple for me: purple plaid shirt, purple t-shirt, purple suspenders. And he insisted on standing next to the purple Christmas tree for the photo (don't judge me, I keep the Christmas stuff in the basement, and that's been off-limits as of late [see photo above])

Kris and I decided to watch two movies, the first of which being The Animatrix. Kris put the DVD in, and then I snapped the photo as he was straightening up. I however, prefer to title this "Kris Busting A Move" cause it, ya know, looks like he's dancing.

So I've decided I'm going to try to review the books and movies I see throughout the year. This is the first of those (we'll see how many I ultimately do).

Hunter's Moon
This is the most recent Doctor Who book I've read. I was not impressed. I mean it wasn't a bad book, it just didn't grab me. Rory does stupid, uncharateristic things, the Doctor does things that should be impossible even for him, and Amy is almost an after-thought. The group of villains are interchangeable, I honestly couldn't remember who was who. And the supposed twists and turns are all stuff I've seen before, not terribly surprising, not even interesting. It took nearly three weeks to read it, and it's NOT a long book. That about says it all to me.

Walking Dead, Season 1
Enjoyable, although I dont think I'm into it as much as some other people are. After the first two episodes or so, the zombies really become secondary an afterthought. After that, it's all about relationships: the sisters, the brothers, the son father and mother, and the man/friend she was sleeping with, etc. I found it both emotionally draining and yet somewhat soap operatic at the same time. Neither of these things are negative, though. But while I do enjoy the show, too often I find myself noticing small things that bother me: where are they getting gas for the vehicles? How exactly does one sneak into a zombie infesting city repeatedly without being noticed? Could the redneck hillbilly be any more stereotypical, even down to his name, Merle? And how about the overweight, middle-aged wife beater, isn't he just right out of Hollywood casting, with no redeaming values whatsoever? Why would a guy in a coma wake up with boxers on and the hospital gown on backwards? Would a gurney pushed in front of the an unlocked door really keep the zombies from coming in and killing the deputy? I know these are small things, and they didn't detract from my enjoyment of the series, but if I was really REALLY enjoying it, I wouldn't have noticed these things at all.

I suppose the last thing I can say about it is that I'll catch the second season when I can. I've got to make sure cute lil Glen stays safe and healthy.

Last Sunday night, Kris came over and spent the night. We assume it will be the last time he does so. Friday, sometime during the day, he's leaving for Virginia. I'm not happy about it, but I understand why and support him.

Once he got here, we pretty much retired to the bedroom right away. We did a lot of talking while there was a lot of cuddling. And there were some tears shed from both of us. And then more talking and laughing. And that lead to the first bedtimesexxyfun. Following this, we talked some more and cuddled some more and then turned out the light to sleep....which lead to the second bedtimesexxyfun.

Following that, we laid in the bed, in the dark, and held each other until we drifted off to sleep. I love sleeping next to Kris. Unlike other people that I've slept with, I feel completely comfortable with him. I love feeling him next to me, his arm over me, my arm over him, hearing him snore softly. It just so comforting and relaxing.

The next morning, I had to get up at 8, because the plumbers were supposed to be there at 830. The didn't show up until like 930ish, which meant that since we had a free hour and a half, we had the third bedtimesexxyfun. And without going into gory details, we did several things we've never tried before. And thoroughly enjoyed them all. We both wondered aloud why we had never tried this stuff before. Good question, methinks.

Since, at that time, I still had no use of my shower or toilet, I had to take him home unshowered. But I dont think either of us cared. We said goodbye at my house before leaving. I thought that would be the last time I saw him. But on the way to his place, he mentioned seeing a moive Thursday after I get off work. So as it stands now, we'll be seeing a movie and dinner, and possibly afterwards, he'll come back here to spend the night one last time.

I haven't been posting much lately (duh, obviously), but I've just not been feeling it. Been ~~thinking~~ stressing about the whole sewer situation. Now, turns out that the lady on the other side of the house and I together decided we just want the whole entire pipe removed and replaced with PVC piping. Since the part they removed so far just basically crumbled and fell apart, we dont know if it's gonna crumble and fall apart anywhere else along the way. So, instead of maybe having that happen later on and having to go through this all again, we've decided I'm just gonna tell the guy tomorrow to do it.

Course not only does this bring up additional cost, but it's the TIME involved. I mean, it's been since December 20th that all this started, and I've not been able to poop or shower since then. And if we're gonna have them tear it all up, well hell, who knows how long that'll take. The lady next door as mentioned getting a hotel. Frankly, that thought crossed my mind as well. But we'll see. I'm just glad I can use mom's place in the meantime.

As you can imagine, this is sitting rather heavy on my mind. On top of all that, Kris is moving the end of the week, so tonight is probably gonna be the last time we're together for awhile, and certainly will be the last time he'll spend the night. And he's got to spend it in a place where he can't poop or shower. Definitely NOT the way I planned on spending you last night together. Aw well, whatever, the best laid plans of mice and men and all that.

So yeah, I'll take up posting more regularly again sometime soon. Until then, bear with me.

I apparently posted my photos of my Christmas gifts too early. A few days ago, I recieved another package from the awesome Michelle M.! Today, Tuesday Jan 3rd, is the Iowa Republican Primary. After today, I fully expect at least one of the candidates to drop out, so I thought I'd give my opinions on them now, while I still got them all here. Disclaimer: I am, as you all should know, a Democrat, so naturally, every one of these jokers is unacceptable to me. Where oh where have you gone Nelson Rockefeller and Dwight Eisenhower? The Repulican party is screaming out for normal voices such as yours. At any rate, I shall describe each candidate with a short sentence or statement.

Bachmann: Three words: Bat. Shit Crazy. Or maybe these three words: Not. A. Chance.
~~Cain~~: Self destructed, and not soon enough.
Gingrich: Such a loser he was forced to resign the Speakership Of The House in the 90's
Huntsman: He's relatively moderate, which in the current Republican party is akin to being a black, Jewish, gay, Communist, baby-raper.
Paul: Has about 25% of the Republican voters, and that's all he's gonna get..

Perry: Texas governor, not too bright, verbal mistakes...is this Rick Perry or George W. Bush?
Romney: "Corporations are people too", Nuff said.

Each year, fellow Puntabupeep and DC Pride Parade watcher with me VUBOQ, has this tradition wherein his virginity is renewed each year at when the new year begins. I've been following this tradition myself for the last few years, celebrating when I'm no longer a virgin each year, and competing with myself to try to lose it quicker each year. (Yes, yes I know, I DO need a hobby, thanks for pointing that out)

At any rate, it will be tough to beat this year's de-virgining. By 2:00AM on Jan 1, I was no longer a virgin in 2012. Yay me.

And this leads to my New Year's Eve celebration. After work I went by Kris' place spent a short time with him until it was time to take him to work. Then I drove to the ParisPekings'. There, along with Ghostie and the entire ParisPeking family, I hung out, played with the girls, ate supper and just had a great time. I even, thanks to ALCMDPP was given the chore of putting the girls to bed. And that meant, again thanks to ALCMDPP I had to read them a story. Which turned out to be two stories. One of which was about Mommy and Daddy from when they were young. Or were alcoholics. Or that they still peed their pants. Whatever.

After this, about 8:30ish, I got a call from Kris that he was off work, and picked him up. We returned to the party, but didn't force the others to, as ALCMDPP said, "Watch us being all homo with each other". We did sit on the couch, while the others were in chairs or beanbags or whatever, and we watched "Thirty Minutes Or Less". Which frankly was pretty freakin' funny. Kris and I sat in the back, held hands, cuddled a bit, watched the movie, and had a great time.

Afterwards, Kris was a smidge tipsy. Who knew he could get cuter than he normally is, but a tipsy Kris is a cuter Kris. We came home, and basically went right to bed. After some preliminary cuddling and talking, we broke out the bedtimesexxyfun, and...yeah, what fun it was. Finally, a little after two AM, we turned out the light and went to bed.

But what was best of all was, that at midnight, amongst the clinking of glasses of Asti among us, I actually got to kiss my boyfriend. It took 44 years until I was able to do that. I've been dating people over New Years before, but for whatever reason, I'd never been with them at the stroke of midnight. SO better late then never ya know? And I'm glad Kris was the first one I got to do this with.

Best New Year's Eve ever? Maybe, not sure, but it's definitely in the Top Two or Three of New Years Eve celebrations!

Well it's year's end, and so it's time I take a look back over 2011 and list the Top Ten Things Of The Year. Not everything is good, but it's the biggest items that affected me directly. And without further ado, off we go:

10. Sean

Sean and I dated for a few months over the summer. It was a fun time, and we both had a good time, but there just as no click, no chemistry, and so it ended. Amicably. But the lasting result is that he gave me a taste for and love of asparagus. Asparagus. Never even tasted it before him. Now, I love it.

9. Rewatching Star Trek: Deep Space 9

Thanks to the ParisPekings, I rewatched all 7 seasons of ST:DS9 one right after the other. And I came to have a much better appreciation for the show than I did before. It may have been the best of the Star Trek franchise. Which prior to seeing it again, i never would have said.

8. Reading The Harry Potter series

In less than 2 months, I read the entire 7 books series. I was so engulfed in it, I just couldn't put it down. And as I wound down the last book, I actually grew sad that it was ending and I wouldn't be reading it anymore. And I can now understand why it was such a phenomenon.

7. Watching Battlestar Galactica

I had heard for years how great Battlestar Galactica was, but never got into it. Until I saw Season 1 on sale at Borders and bought it. And then I was hooked. I watched it all over a span of two months. It was, without a doubt, the best science fiction series I have ever seen. The end of it wasn't as good as the first half, but it was still heads and shoulders above most scifi crap out there. Truly amazingly well done television.

6. Borders Closed

I worked at the local Borders bookstore from May 2000 to September 2003. And it was one of the best times of my life. Friendships formed there are still important to me. In fact, that's where I met the ParisPekings. And even after I stopped working there, I still went there frequently just browsing bookshelves. I could spend countless hours, and countless dollars, there. And it's closing truly left a hole, one that has yet to be filled by any other bookstore.

5. Health issues

In July, after a slight scare with my diabetes, my big toe and some temporary numbness, I decided it was (finally) time to get serious about this. So, despite the fact I've practically lived on Pepsi the majority of my life, I gave up regular soda and went to drinking Diet Coke (although I did allow myself a regular soda once a week). In three months, my sugar levels improved dramatically and I lost 6 pounds. Now I just have to keep up with it.

4. Adam4Adam.com

In December of last year, a friend of mine introduced me to a gay hookup site called Adam4Adam.com. I joined up, and this year, thanks to this site, my sexlife has flourished even beyond what it was before! I keep track of these type of things (don't judge me) and in 2011, I met and hooked up with 17 guys through A4A. In fact, A4A accounted for 46% of all the sex I had this year! Without it, I'd only have had half the sex I did! Yay for A4A!

3. Getting my iPhone

In October, I finally joined the 21st century and got an iPhone. And while it has not, as A Local Celebrity, Mr. David ParisPeking predicted, 'totally changed my life', I am glad I've got it. Having easy, handheld Internet access is a great thing if you want to tweet a photo you just took, or scan the photos on gay hookup sites while you wait for someone, or check your email anywhere and everywhere. The convenience is simply amazing.

2. Kris

After dating him for two months last fall and him moving away, I figured that was it. But then he moved back to the area. Over the summer we hooked up. And then starting in October, we saw each other on a more regular basis, not only for overnight bedtimesexxyfuns, but also, for...dates! Who knew I even knew HOW to go on a date? I mean, movie, dinner, and kiss as I dropped him off at his place dates. What fun. We've grown a lot closer this year, and this is something that I think could possibly work out to be something more. Except, in the middle of January, he's moving to Virginia. Which totally sucks. But I totally understand why. He's never really liked it here, and where he's moving, he'll be attending college. And he'll be able to transfer to a restaurant down there at the same chain he's working at up here, so he's got a job lined up already. Naturally, I wish him all the best, and I'm not doing anything to try to get him to stay. There's really nothing here for him, and he's too big for this area. He needs to go somewhere where he can do something with his life and make something of himself. Which he will be able to start doing there. And whatever he does, I know it'll make me so proud. So despite that sad news, getting together again with him and the last couple months spent with him absolutely place him at the #2 spot.

1. Work Stresses

When Bossy Know-It-All Coworker retired last year, the stress level at work was supposed to plummet. And in one way, the stress she caused, it did. However, the stress levels in general actually have increased. In part, due to stupid decisions I made and the repercussions thereof. But mostly from the stress caused by others working here. Other who have power and like to throw it around. Others who would sell their grandmother down the river to advance their careers (and thus, have no qualms at all about doing so to me). Others who just enjoy drama, especially those who enjoy creating it for other people. I have truly felt more stress this year than I have in any previous year working here. And of course I'm hopeful that that will change in the coming year. Certainly I've learned to make better decisions, and have been doing so. But I have no control over the drama and stress others like to create. For that, I'll just have to learn to adjust. But on the plus side, the person who replaced Bossy Know-It-All Coworker is fantastic, and now my department is working together as a team, a united front. Which is exactly as it should have been the last 15 years I worked here. So it's not all bad news from work.

So last night, Johnnie came by for a visit. He was back from Philly visiting his family for the holidays. We went out to eat at Montezumas (YUM!) and he did an incredibly evil thing. On it tablet, he was showing me Angry Birds....and now I'm addicted. So much so that I've got the app on my iPhone and even paid 99 cents for it. I hate myself.

But Johnnie was looking good, and he had a beard, which was something, cause he's never someone I ever thought of as being able to grow facial hair. Although upon further inspection, I realized it was kinda patchy and obviously just there cause he didn't feel like shaving for two weeks, not because he was consciously growing a beard. And he confirmed that assessment.

He's submitted his thesis, so after he "defends" (?) it and goes through a graduation ceremony, he will be a Doctor. Doctor Johnnie. Now I just have to wait for him to call me and tell me he's sick and I can call him Dr. Johnnie Fever!!!! (Here's the link for all of those of you under 35 who have no idea what I'm talking about. Go ahead, check it out, I'll wait)

It's crazy to think that Johnnie, little Johnnie, MY lil Johnnie is gonna be a Doctor. Not a medical one, no, but a Doctor nonetheless. He'll have a PhD to hang on his wall. He's got a job at a college in Chicago, doing what he's doing now, but making more money. So that's good, but Chicago's quite a bit more distant than Philly, so I don't know when I'll see him again. Which is sad. But there's phones and email and stuff. And we only really saw each other at Christmas anyway.

I tried to get out of him what he acutally does. And he told me, but after the first words "I research Pharmaceutical proteins..." everything else was words I had never heard before and couldn't comprehend. Apparently its something about research into which proteins help which pharmaceuticals do thier jobs better. Or something like that. Whatever it is, it's YEARS beyond anything my mind can comprehend. He showed me, on the tablet, one of the proteins he was working on. It looked like a 3D picture of a small pile of different streamers and confetti. So yeah, I got no idea. I just have to take it at face value that what he's saying actually makes sense.

But we didnt' discuss just this high-falutin' stuff. We talked football, politics, society in general, Kris, the religion he converted to (Ba'Hai....or something like that), and his future. And of course, Angry Birds. A really good time, as usual.

So, yeah, I've no idea when I'll see him again, but I know he's really gonna go somewhere and do something important. And I'll be able to say, "I knew him when. Back when he was a shy backward sixteen year old that just moved to the area and had no friends."

So how was the Polt Christmas? Well, coulda been better truthfully. Waking up with Kris, and the morning bedtimesexxyfun were great. Three plate-fulls of Mama Polt's homemade Christmas dinner, yum! Opening some Christmas gifts and giving Kris his. Cuddling on the couch and watching Hercules with Kris. Yeah, good times.

After I took Kris home though, I kinda had an anxiety attack followed by a minor meltdown. And a virus on the laptop. yay. But after some crying and talking things over with mom, all was well. Still, not the best time I've ever had.

But I've got pics from the day:

I got Angel a stocking full of purple dog toys. This is her surrounded by them, after she drug them all out and spread them all around.

While I ate lunch, I had to deal with this....this...this look. And an occasional whine and whimper. *SIGH* It's like we never feed her anything.

As the afternoon progressed, it became clear she preferred the Christmas Bear the best, cause she carried it around with her all the time.

Tell me, honestly, how could you look at this smile and NOT smile yourself?

So FDot sent me this, which unfortunately is not the real Puck. And it's not a shirtless Taylor Lautner cutout. But on the plus side, it's not a Rachel Berry cutout either. Ah, FDot, he knows me so well.

Craiggers sent me this Superman wrist band, which I shall wear proudly, AND the t-shirt, which still applies even if you read it online.

Tam sent me this awesome Dallas Cowboy garden gnome and book on Comic book trivia and stuff. Good fun!

Adam Sullens, even though he's a prick, sent me a bag of lump of coal candy, a bag of bubble bath (?) and the Penis Pokey book. Which is too small, but the thought is appreciated.

Mama Polt got me all this: calenders, Christmas ornaments, Dallas Cowboys tin with snacky stuff inside, and a box of sugarfree chocolates. Nice.

But really, the best Christmas present of the year, was without a doubt, Kris, spending the night.

I know, kids, I haven't been posting much recently, but Uncle Polt's been busy. I'll catch up on everything soon. Right now, though, I'd really like to discuss something.

The. BEST. Christmas. Eve. EVAH!

It started by me getting up earlier than usual, like at 6:45, because I wanted to leave work a bit early. And thus, I did get to work early and leave early. Work itself wasn't too bad. Not real busy, but busy enough. And just like last year, this year, I bought pizza for all my coworkers and had them delivered for lunch. This year, though, I was at work, so I could enjoy the pizza myself.

After work, I went to Kris' work to pick him up. Once I got there I texted him. At which point, he texted me back that since they were so insanely busy, they weren't closing at 3, as planned, but they were closing at 5 instead. He said I could come inside at wait. but instead I went to the used book store and browsed around for like 45 minutes of so, finding only two books I wanted to buy. But still had a good time wasting the time. Then I went to the grocery store to pick up some things that I needed, including something or us for breakfast.

Then I went back and waited at his restaurant. When he finally got everything wrapped up, it was closer to 6 than 5, but I had my iPhone and wasting time just roaming around on there. So when he finally came out, we kissed out hellos and made our made home, stopping only on the way to get a pizza.

Upon getting here, we ate the pizza, watched the Cowboys lose miserably to the Eagles and then went to bed from some bedtimesexxyfun. Following that, and a shower, we came back downstairs, each had a beer and settled in for my Christmas Eve tradition. We first watched the Christmas episode of " My So-Called Life" which every year makes me cry. And so I did this year. And then, as a cheer my up, like every year, we watched "Year Without A Santa Claus", during which I sang nearly every song, and Kris laughed.

Also at some time during the night, we laid in bed and watched videos on my iPhone and watched some stuff on the laptop downstairs. And Kris opened the gift I got him of a book. And then we went to bed again and cuddled for a short while before turning out the light and going to sleep.

It may not sound like a whole lot, but it was truly my best Christmas Eve ever. Because, in all my 44 years, I have never spent a Christmas Eve, and woke up on Christmas Day, next to someone I loved. Oh sure when I lived at home, I spent Christmas Eve with my parents. And in the apartment, Ag spent several Christmas Eve's in my apartment watching TV and such. And on several Christmases I was dating someone, but for various reasons we never got together then. So it was truly a great Christmas Eve.

Christmas itself was a smidge of a letdown, but that's a post for another day. As they say, better late than never, so finally, after 44 years, I had the Christmas Eve I always wanted.

Family Christmas time Well, well, well, well...

Last Saturday night we had our Family Christmas. Everyone was there, except for one uncle, although his wife was. A cousin, his wife and son Cory weren't supposed to be there, but they showed up surprising everyone. We had a lot of food, then I in my Santa hat and my cousin-in-law Tiffany in the elf ears hat I bought her last year, too care of handing out the gifts. All 5 of the young ones got gifts, and grandma got several. Most of the others of us got occassional gift certificates or the bags of candy/goodies and a homemade dishtowel from mom (she hands them out each and every year). Also, Mom and I did the skit she wanted to do this year: I Want A Hippotamous For Christmas. Mom had made herself a lil girl outfit, and she bought the doll, crocadile, rhino and hippo. Everyone, including us, laughed. And I took some photos.

I gave each of the kids one of these fish-shaped holders and filled them with the goldfish crackers. They were a big hit with all of the kids.

And this is how Cory ate all his very quickly. Ah, well, 13 year old boys do have quite the appetite.

This is all my Christmas gifts wrapped up and ready for opening. Well, two of them aren't there yet, as I still haven't wrapped them, but whatever.

Friday night I was making deviled eggs for our Family Christmas on Saturday (the eggs were delicious, thanks for asking). All of a suddenly I got this pain in my right eye. Or more accurately, right below my right eye. The sharp pain quickly went away, but a lingering pain remained. And all weekend it was there, with periodic flareups of the sharp pain.

Luckily, this morning, I had a regular doctor's appointment. While there I asked him about it. While looking in my eye with the light he told me I had an abcess. Huh? He said there's a gland right under my tear duct that got infected. Lovely. He said it looked like it was draining, which was good, because if it didn't drain I'd have to go to my eye doctor who they can lance it. LANCE it???? Oh HELL no. He gave me an antibiotic, but told me it could cause violent nausea and vomiting (oh joy) and make me photosenstive, which means I would get a sunburn on a sunny day like today. So if either of that happens, I'm supposed to let him know.

Well since taking the first antibiotic, I'm not violently ill, but my stomach is upset, kinda topsy turvy. Looks like chicken soup for me for supper tonight. But at least I know what's wrong with my eye. And what to do about it. Oh and I have to put warm compresses on it as well. Hopefully this'll take care of it all.

Oh and my bloodwork on the diabetes got a bit worse after last time's great improvement. But I expected that because since then there's been Halloween, and all that candy, Thanksgiving, and all that food, and right after Thanksgiving until now has been all of Mama Polt's cookies/Peanut Brittle/candies/etc. But by the next time, it should improve again.

oh, and I'm pretty sure that one of the guys I was with last week gave me a bug, cause starting...well about the same time my eye started hurting, I've had a sore throart and stuffy head. So now I'm on, in addition to the antibiotics, some DayQuil cold meds. Blech.

Hope hot chicken soup helps, I hate being a pathetically sick Polt.

It's been so warm lately, like in the 50's. Ten days before Christmas. But no, the Republican wingnuts are correct, there's obviously no such thing as global warming. On the upside, all the precipitation we're getting today is only rain and not snow, so that's a good thing, right?

So last year you may recall at our family Christmas, mom and I did, at her suggestion, Rudolf The Rednosed Reindeer (click HERE if you have no idea what I'm talking about). This year, she wants to do another one. And it's "I Want A Hippotamous For Christmas". *SIGH* Luckily, I do NOT have to be the hippo. No I just have to be Santa again. Mom's gonna do the singing...I think that's what she calls the noises she makes. I'm sure someone there will film in on their phones, and post it on Facebook. If it happens, I'll try to get it here so you all can see it too. She and I rehearsed it tonight. Oh man.....this is insane.

Gotta make deviled eggs for the family Christmas Saturday. Haven't made them since before I moved into the house two years ago. And I can't find the recipe I always used. Ah well, that's one reason God invented the Internet, I'll get a recipe off there. I hard boiled the eggs today, gonna have to do the acutal making of the deviled eggs tomorrow night.

Had crazy dreams last night. The first one made me so sad, depressed and upset, I was bawling in my dream, and I woke myself up from it. Was still upset and depressed. Couldn't go back to sleep for over an hour. Then, had another crazy dream about me helping the Muppets backstage when they were up on an actual stage somewhere. that was pretty fun. But the result of all this is that I didn't get much sleep and am now pretty much exhausted. Bed is calling me right now as a matter of fact.

12 For The 12th

This whole thing is the brainchild of CHAD. Unfortunately, this is the last month he's going to do it. I'll probably continue doing these, if I remember to do so. But this month, I decided to take a photo at the top of each hour from 8am to 7pm.

8:00AM

I set the alarm for 8, and it went off, but I wasn't feeling it. So I reset the alarm to 9, grabbed my phone, snapped a photo, and went back to sleep.

9:00AM

I still wasn't feeling it at 9 either, so I snapped a photo and then laid there for a bit before finally getting up, maybe about 9:20 or so.

10:00AM

Harvesting my crops. Don't judge me.

11:00AM

On my way to the mall to meet my buddy Ryan from work. We were going there to check out a newly expanded comic book store and to get lunch.

12:00 noon

In the comic book store, these were two of the three graphic novels I purchased.

After buying our books and having a pleasant lunch, he continued to do some shopping but I came on back home. This was at a stop light on the way home.

2:00PM

I wrapped up some more gifts, getting everything ready to shipped all over the continent. After this, I went to the Post Office and mailed them. Then went to the credit union to deposit some checks.

3:00PM

After the credit union, I went to the grocery store and got some supplies.

4:00PM

I watched some TV and blobbed on the couch for a bit enjoying some Law & Order.

5:00PM

But I didn't get to watch to much of the episode because I got a surprise visit from a Friend With Benefits and that took precedence over any TV show rerun. This is him leaving at 5.

6:00PM

Time for supper. This is a chicken and rigatoni TV dinner. It was tasty, although had too many pepper chunks it in. I dont believe I'll be getting another one of this type.

7:00PM

Doing a little bit of very much needed cleaning of the bathroom.

So I've had my iPhone for seveal weeks now, and while I am enjoying it, it has not, as A Local Celebrity, Mr. David ParisPeking has asked, totally changed my life. Yet.

But it HAS come in handy in several instances.

1) When making this year's Christmas video (watch it above if you haven't done so already. Or hell, watch it again if you have!), I had to get a shot at mom's. And so I loaded Kris, Ghostie, the camera, and myself into the car and off we went. However, on the way there, I realized I had left the lyrics at home and none of us remembered the exact lyrics. Oh well, I thought, mom has a computer, but it takes forEVER for the damn thing to boot up. And then I remembered, "I have an iPhone!" So once we got there, I just got on Google and looked it up! YAY, iPhone!

2) When Kris and I were at the movies this week, we were waiting for the movie to start and talking about the Christmas video (watch it above it you haven't done so already. Or hell, watch it again if you have!), and he hadn't seen it yet, so right then and there, I got on Youtube and showed it to him! Yay, iPhone!

3) Today at the grocery store, I realized I was missing my debit card. After the initial shock of "Oh GOD, where is my card?", I remembered back that I paid for Kris and my meal at TGIFridays on Thursday with the card. I must have left it there. So once I paid for the groceries with a credit card and returned to my car, I got on my iPhone, got on Google, looked up the phone number for the restaurant, called it, and lo and behold, they DID have my card. So off I went to the place and got it. Yay, iPhone!

So, while it's not been a life-changer, it HAS been pretty damn convienent and helpful!

I've been listening to Christmas music a lot lately. I do love me some Christmas music...as long as it's AFTER Thanksgiving.

At any rate, so far this year, I have heard the Grinch song about 7 times, and I've heard Adam Sandler's The Hannakuh Song exactly zero times! And both of those things are exactly as it should be.
