Badass Birthday
Back in 1914, 111 years ago, in Cleveland Ohio, was born Jerry Siegel.
You may be wondering who Jerry Siegel is (tho the drawing behind him may give you a clue). Well, when he was 24 years old, along with his friend Joe Shuster, he was co-creator of Superman!
Together they made the hero, sold him to DC and wrote and drew him for years. As well as many other DC heroes.
There were issues later on, after they both left DC, having to do with payments they should receive and there were a lot of nasty lawsuits. After decades of fighting, they (or their families) did received payments. And both of their names are now contractually required to be credited with his creation whenever Superman is used, be it a comic book, a movie, a TV show, a radio program, etc.
Jerry Siegal passed in 1996 at the age of 85, but co-creating the First and Greatest Comic Book Superhero of them all, and basically starting the comic book industry as we've known it for 85 years, that certainly makes him a total basass!
