Today we have a page of one of the Who's Who In The DC Universe books, and it shows the League Of Super-Assassins (an enemy team of the Legion of Super-Heroes) as drawn by Joe Staton. 

Clockwise from bottom left: Mist Master, Lazon, Neutrax, Blok, Titania, and Silver Slasher.   Blok ended up reforming and actually joining the Legion later. 

Incidentally, they first appeared in the late 70s, when the Uncanny X-Men were at their height.  And they're rumored to be a pastiche of the X-Men. 

Mist Master - Kitty Pryde (both can become intangible)

Lazon - Cyclops (later beams)

Neutrax - Professor X (need a chair to get around)

Blok - Colossus (non flesh strong & tough)

Titania - Phoenix (red heads)

Silver Slasher - Wolvering   (Killing claws)

On this date in 1685, Johann Sebastian Bach was born in Germany.

Bach was a German composer and musician of the late Baroque era. He composed music for multiple instruments and styles, such as orchestral, solo instrumental, keyboard, organ, and choral pieces.  

Some of his most recognizable works include: Toccata and Fugue in D minor; Cello Suite No.1 in G Major and the Brandenburg Concertos, a collection of six.  I promise you, if you check them out on Youtube, especially the first two, you've absolutely heard them before. 

He passed away in 1759 at the age of 65.  And when you've made music that is still being played, heard and recognized more than 250 years after you death, certainly you're the definition of a badass!

On this date, in 1950, Robbie Coltrane was born in Scotland. 

His movie career began in 1980 with a non-speaking cameo part in the movie Flash Gordon.   His acting career lasted nearly 40 years, but he had to stop when his health deteriorate too much and he passed in 2022 at the age of 72.

I first got to know him from a comedy where he starred with Monty Python's Eric Idle called "Nuns On The Run".  It wasn't a great movie, but I remember laughing my ass off in parts of it.  I mean, men dressing up as nuns are always hilarious, right? 

Anyway, none of this is the reason for his badassedness.   That's for one particular role.  He will forever be known as Rubeus Hagrid, as he should be.  And that role and the way he portrayed the gentle giant is what makes him a total badass!

With Easter being Sunday, this week we have Hot Shirtless Guys In Bowties And Bunny Ears!

 So I decided to watch Wicked and Wicked For Good.  I did not like the play when I saw it years ago, but I was just coming down with the flu at the time, so I thought maybe that had something to do with it.  So I thought to give it another chance. 

And no, no I don't like the movies anymore than I liked the play (though thankfully I was not coming down with the flu while watching it).   

However, there IS a song in the second movie sung by the Wizard called "Wonderful".   And I DID like that song, or at least parts of it, cause it was quite a commentary on our current times.  The lyrics: 

"Once folks buy into your blarney

It becomes the thing they'll most hold onto

Once they've swallowed sham and hokum

Facts and logic won't unchoke 'em

They'll go on believing what they want to"

I mean, the whole movie is a lightly disguised allegory for tRump's America.  Undesirables, in this case, animals, having their rights restricted, thrown into cages and trying to sneak out of the country.  Say Hispanics and immigrants in place of animals, and it IS the USA in 2025/2026.  and this is the most obvious example.

Anyway, the above lyrics, which I don't think are in the lyrics of the song from the play, described the MAGAmorons to a T!

Frankly, it was one of the best part of the entire film for me.
