If I were a hero, I'd be Martin Luthor (Part 2032)...

 Superhero Anydays

Tonight, we have the history of the Uncanny X-Men (up until about the early 2000s, when I guess all these were drawn).

The original lineup: Iceman, Cyclops, Beast, Marvel Girl, Angel.  Off to the side, is Professor X and Mimic, who was a member for a few issues before being killed.
Then, after the X-Men 'graduated' from Xavier's School For Gifted Youngsters, they all got to choose their own costumes, instead of wearing the school costume, and they added a few members.  Polaris, Havok, Angel, Cyclops, Iceman, Marvel Girl, and Beast.  In the squares we again have Professor X, but also Changling, who took over the Prof's shape and place, all before he was killed.

Then, the mid 70s, a new international team was assembled to rescue the old team: Wolverine, Colossus, Phoenix, Cyclops, Storm, Banshee and Nightcrawler.  In the boxes are again Professor X, Sunfire, who left soon after joining, Angel and Beast, original members who came back for short bits of time, and Thunderbird, who was killed on the new team's second mission.
Then, circa 1980, and about the time I started reading and collecting them, we have this lineup of the team: Wolverine, Storm, Cyclops (who left early in this run), Angel, Colossus, Sprite, and Nightcrawler.  In the boxes we again have Professor X and Rogue, who later in this period joined the team.

Then we had this...unusual lineup.  Shadowcat, Colossus, Nightcrawler, Professor X (who got a new body with legs that worked and became a regular team member), Phoenix II, Magneto (their lone time villain who 'reformed' and joined the team), Wolverine, Storm and Rogue.  In the box we have Cyclops who hung out with the team for a while.

Then, this group of X-Men were "killed" but actually just went through the Siege Perilous and ending up working out of Australia (don't ask....it wasn't a good time for the comic).  Clockwise from bottom right: Longshot, Dazzler, Havok, Wolverine, Colossus, Psylocke, Storm and Rogue.  (this team never made any sense to me, neither where they were located or why they were together, or any of their storylines).  In the box is Cyclops cause he hung out with them a while.

Then, they revealed the were alive, reunited with the other members and were left with this lineup, who all, for some unknown reason, wore the same uniform.   It too was not a good time for the comic. Forge, Psylocke, Banshee, Wolverine, Storm, Jubilee, and Gambit

And then, for some silly reason, the team split into two team: the Gold Team and the Blue Team. (basically, it was a money making tactic.  One team remained in Uncanny X-Men, the other was featured in the new X-Men comic.  Just a way to get people to buy two monthly issues instead of one.  I assure you neither the art nor the story quality doubled).  So, whatever.

On top we have the Gold Team: Storm, Bishop, Colossus, Jean Grey, Archangel and Iceman.  In the boxes we have Forge and Professor X
on bottom, we have the Blue Team: Gambit, Beast, Cyclops, Wolverine, Psylocke, Jubliee and Rogue, with Professor X in the box again.
