Seen on today's walk: After getting my coffee, I walked to the Post Office to mail some things and then went to the Candy Kitchen in the square to get a gift of homemade chocolates and had a nice conversation with the owner as he put the box together.  And then I came home.  But I took a photo of the outside of the Candy Kitchen itself:

Seen on today's walk: I walked downtown to get a few things, and then took a longer, less direct way home.  But since it was a cold, damp, rainy day, I needed my two sidekicks here: An umbrella and some coffee!

Yesterday I walked 1.50  miles in 35 minutes.

Seen on last night's walk: Yesterday, my town shut down the main drag through town and had the annual lighting of the town's Christmas Tree in the square.  When this happens, the square fills up with people, and all the downtown stores stay open, and there's a fire truck on one end hoisting an American Flag.  It's a big to-do.  

But also, when this happens, unlike any other time of the year, you get to walk down the middle of Main Street!

Seen on tonight's walk: A new comic book store opened downtown, so I took a walk just to check it out for the first time.  So I did.  I wasn't really impressed and I don't think I'll be going back.  But this is some of the stuff I looked at:

Today I walked 2.54 miles in 49 minutes.

I used the map from my phone instead because the way I walked isn't on the usual map I use.  My town put a macadam trail in connecting Memorial Park in town (on the left of the pic) with Renfrew Park (just off the right of the pic).  They put it in behind the three schools and it's a great shortcut for kids who live in the south part of town.  Also, it's a very pleasant walk!

Seen on tonight's walk: You've heard of the Holy Trinity?  Tonight I saw the Hellish Trinity!  These three identical cats, unmoving, as I walked past. And even stayed that while while I came back and took their picture.  No movement...except for their demonic eyes.

Seen on today's walk: This pole.  I have no idea what it is.  There's no wires connected to it, and I have no idea what that contraption is attached on the top.  Weird.

Today, since it's was a warmish (but not hot) day with a clear sky and a cool breeze, I thought I'd walk a card to the Post Office and then go beyond that.  So today, I walked 2.34 miles in 46 minutes.

Seen on today's walk: (I actually saw several houses all decked out with their Halloween decorations and one of the MOST decorated also had at least one air conditioner running.  Those two things don't seem to go together....but I digress...) Well, this looks like it's the end of the Stuart Little movie franchise.

I rewarded myself by stopping at the Waynesburger and getting a burger (single burger, with ketchup, lettuce, mayo and onion) and a bowl of chili.

WALKS 2018

Tonight, for the first time in over a month (and for only the second time since the end of July), I took a walk.

This evening, it was warm (82 degrees) but not humid and there was a pleasant breeze.  And I did have some cards to mail.  So, since my toes wasn't bothering me, it was scorching hot and humid and it wasn't raining, I thought, "Yeah, let's walk."

I didn't take a long walk, and didn't walk briskly or anything, but I still got winded. I am SO out of shape (not that I was ever really IN shape, but I was in better shape).  

Anyway, today I walked 1.61 miles in 36 minutes.

Seen on tonight's walk: A building in town who's white stone plaque above the porch reads, "1890".  It used to be the headquarters of the Geiser Plant, and huge factory complex in town.  The factories all burned to the ground in a huge fire in, I believe, 1945.

Today, I decided I needed to take a walk, for no other reason than because I had things to mail.  But I also wanted to see how I did on a walk with my toe issues I've been having.    I walked 1.87 miles in 39 minutes.

Seen on tonight's walk: The Town Clock Tower.  Since it was so hot and humid, I waited until after 7PM to actually venture out and do it.

Seen on today's walk: These fake geese statues.  They were under this tree, behind a little fence, and I didn't see them until I was practically upon them, and I thought they were real and they startled me.  And I may or may not have yelled out loud like a little girl.
