So, Paul and his insanely cute boyfriend Travis arrived safely, allbeit a smidge later than planned (damn NYC traffic) today.  We sat around and talked for a bit and then after much indecision, I took them up to High Rock to see the view of the valley.  Travis took tons of panoramic pictures from up there.  Very good ones, may I add.  Then we returned to the house and Paul changed his clothes before we headed out again, this time to the local Mall.

We walked the Mall and Travis bought a shirt and pair of shoes.  Since it was then supper time, we decided to eat somewhere: El Ranchero.  When we were seated with our drinks before we ordered, I called Kris.  He had just gotten back from visiting with some friends in the afternoon.  I went to pick him up and brought him to restaurant, where he not only enjoyed a meal with us, but got to meet Paul and Travis.  And after dropping Kris off afterwards we came back home here again.

Now, here's our plans:  tonight we're going to a drag show at the Lodge (I LOVE a good drag show, and with the queens they have advertised as taking part, it should be a DAMN good show).  Then tomorrow morning, we're gonna get up and go to DC.  We just decided once they got here to get a hotel room in DC tomorrow night.  And we found one in a really nice hotel for a really good rate.  And it's right on DuPont Circle.  This will allow us to not only enjoy the museums and monuments tomorrow, but tomorrow night, we'll be able to sample the DC gay nightlife.  Which is what they wanted to do, since they never have, and which I haven't for approximately 10-12 years.  And that should just be an amazingly fun time!  I get a mini-vacation in DC as part of their weekend vacation!

We're planning on coming home Sunday sometime.  That may the evening Travis cooks for us, not sure.  But after he gets off work Sunday night, Kris is coming over.  I told him he could, but since I'm giving Paul and Travis my king sized bed, Kris and I would have to sleep on the living room floor.  And he said, "It wouldn't be the first time I slept on a living room floor, but it will be the first time I've done so with you."  So apparently he'll be here that night.  And then sometime on Monday, Paul and Travis will leave for home.

It'll be a busy week, and it's already seemed like a very busy day just today!  But I'm looking forward to all of it! But if my regular blogging a bit light the remainder of this weekend, now  you'll understand why!

Call me in three months time, I'll be fine (Part 25)...

THURSDAY THREE

So, what this week made my life a lil better?  Let's see.

1) A Clean House

No, this is NOT my house, but wouldn't it awesome it it was?
The house has had it's annual Autumn cleaning.  In addition, there's another reason it got cleaned: Paul & Travis are coming tomorrow!  YAY!!!  But anyway, having a clean house is always nice cause it smells clean: Pine Sol, Orange Pledge, Glade, Fabreze...they all make the entire place smell fresh and new.  And I love that smell. (Cleaning to GET that smell...nah, not so much).

2) Kris is back

This past Saturday, Kris moved back into the area from Richmond.  Was a surprise to me.  Well, I mean, I've known for about a week and half that he was planning on moving back, but the fact that he wanted to at all was the surprise!  I thought things were going so well for him down there.  And apparently they were for a while.  But things have not going well recently I guess.  It all happened kinda suddenly actually.  But, Tuesday after I got off work, we got together for about a half hour and talked a bit before I took him to work.  It was great to see him again.  And to know he's back.

3) Freddie's Subs

I KNOW I'm not supposed to eat them (bread is too high in carbs), but lately I can't help it.  Freddie's Subs has The Best Subs In Town.  It's not only their slogan, it's also totally and completely true.  No sub beats a Freddie Sub.  I've had like four of them in the last ten days or so.  My doctor won't be happy.  My blood sugar won't be happy.  But dammit, my taste buds are very VERY happy!

What made your week more livable?

If you're on my list, it's just a matter of time (Part 11)...

10 Questions

This week, I've got a celebrity (Well at least a Palace celebrity) and a saint to answer these questions.  You all know her, or should from all the talking I do about her, but let's see if we can get to know her a bit better.  This week, I give you...

Mama Polt!

She didn't give me a blurb, but then really, does she NEED one?

1. How many times have you been under anesthesia?
Hmmm, carpal tunnel, my ankle, my knee, and my teeth, so four, I guess.
2.Who shot JR?
I don't know.  I don't remember.  Do we really know?  Who is it? (She's told it's Kristen Shepard) Oh yeah, she was his girlfriend, right?
3. Coke, Pepsi, other or none of the above?
What, am I supposed to tell you which one I like?  Oh, okay.  Coke.
4. Gray hair: keep it, dye it or shave it off?
Oh come on, you know I keep it natural.
5. When playing Monopoly which token do you typically use?
The iron, wouldn't you know?  (laughs)
6. Who was your first celebrity crush?
Pat Boone, but back when he was young and handsome, not now.  I go back a long way, ya know?
7. What was your first pet and it's name and your most recent pet and name?
Well most recent is Angel.  The first was I guess Muffin.  She was a dog.  A miniature collie.  Oh and Angel's a poodle!
8. How many newspapers do you read?
Just the Record Herald. (our local smalltown newspaper)
9. Salt: a little or a lot?
Just a little.
10. In how many jobs have you worked?
Oh my word!  You count them.  Clothing factory.  In the office at Tool Company.  Real estate.  Snak Shop.  Some of these I even worked at the same time.  Secretary at Thompson Oil Company.  Rea & Derrick/People's drugstore.  Secretary at the Sheffield Manor housing development.  Fort Deitrick in the library and the Provost marshal's office.  And down at FEMA, a secretary and then a Budget Tech.  Oh and of COURSE a wife and mother.  Last one was probably the hardest (laughs).  So how many is that?  14?  Okay.

Totally a saint!  AND a celebrity!

That's a pretty amazing tongue, actually.  And the abs, while having nothing to do with the tongue, are really pretty damn amazing too.  But the best part of Mack Baker is....well, comparable to the tongue, but a located a little lower.   I've included a link below, but be aware, it's NSFW.  Not that should keep you from checking it out, cause really, it's WELL worth it.

So what did I do today?  Good question.

Paul and Travis are coming back for a visit this weekend.  I wanted to get the house presentable.  And, since it's the fall, it's time for the annual fall cleaning.  SO, yesterday I arranged it all with mom.  (What, you expect me to clean a whole house all by myself?  Especially when I'm so lazy busy?)

So this morning, I rolled out of bed about 8AM (way to early on my day off, may I add), and called her.  She got my uncle's truck and then came over.  We took apart a loveseat here and took to the ParisPeking residence, they are adopting it.  Got it into the house, chatting briefly with Mrs. A Local Celebrity, Mr. David ParisPeking, and Jackie, the littlest ParisPeking.

Then we returned the truck and came back here to start cleaning.  We began in the kitchen, tidying it up including washing the floor.  Then went to the bedroom where we took the air conditioner out and cleaned that up, including flipping the king-sized mattress (which is difficult to do alone).  And then we cleaned the hallway.

We went back downstairs, moved everything out of the living room, cleaned it, and then put everything back in, in different positions.  I like to rotate my furniture.  The living room looks SO much bigger than before, even though it's all the same stuff.  We went to her house to get lunch (at 1230) and then went to Lowe's to get some stuff I needed.

Coming back, we finished up with the dining room, including taking the air conditioner out.  Everything look pretty clean and tidy.  And in the midst of all this, I did four loads of laundry, and put new sheets on the bed. After all this, I laid on the bed for about two hours, reading, putzing on my iPhone, even lightly napping.  And after ALL this, I showered (finally) and actually had to go to the grocery store to get a few things.

I am totally EXHAUSTED.  I don't know how mom does it when she's almost 70 years old!

Call me in three months time, and I'll be fine (Part 24)...

Thursday Three

So, let's see what this past week made my life just a little bit more livable.

1) Getting the bathroom repainted.

Finally.  I mean I've only been in the house three years, ya know?  And now finally it's done.  And done quite well actually.  I really like the way it turned out.

2) Health results

Went to the doctor Monday to get the results of my bloodwork.  I haven't really been eating or exercising the way I should since mid-July.  The fridge broke so I wasn't able to store food in there, and the heat got to the scorching 100 temps, making walks impossible.  And since I was out of practice and habit, I just never got back into it.  So I figured the results would be bad.  As a memory-jarrer, back in March my A1C was 9.2, in June, I got it down to 7.1.  Well Monday's results, after not really working at it for two months, my A1C was up to 7.4.  Not good, but still, not anywhere NEAR as bad as I thought it was gonna be.  So that's good news.

3) Hardcore Gay Porn

Yeah, once again, I don't really have a third thing, so we'll just go with this old standby.  Hardcore Gay Porn makes EVERY week better.

If you're on my list, it' just a matter of time (Part 10)...

10 QUESTIONS

Well, kids, today's 10 Questions is with a newbie, a rookie, a veritable virgin.  He sent me an email saying he's been a long time reader of the Palace, but never commented, and he decided he wanted to play 10 Questions.  And I say, "HUZZAH!"  I say, "Welcome aboard to elite club of Palace Commentators!"  And I say, "Comment more often!"  But enough about what I say, let's hear what he has to say.  I give you all...

Alex M!

Hi there, I'm Alex!  I'm just a shy, unassuming librarian from Louisiana who has been lurking in the shadows of the Palace for about two years now.  I'm pretty down to earth and dorky.  I love to read books (no surprise!) as well as comics, love cartoons of all sorts, and I'm also big into games and road trips (though I haven't traveled as much as I would like).  I'm hoping participating in this will help me be less of a lurker and more active around these parts!

1. If you could live the life of anyone now dead, without changing anything, who would it be?
Nikola Tesla.  Though having a tragic end and being unappreciated in his time, I'd love to experience and know all the things he was able to achieve.
2. What is the farthest in each direction , North, South, East and West, you have traveled from your current home?
North: Hartford, CT (extended family); South: Honduras (where my family is originally from); East: Jackson MS (some field trip); West: Houston (usual hurricane escape destination).
3. What's the most exotic food you've ever eaten?
I guess it's have to be eel or squid.  That doesn't seem too exotic to me though.
4. Have you/would you ever wear a Speedo in public?
Nah.  Though that may change soon, if one of my friends has his way.
5. Do you have a fat ass, in either a good or bad way?
Hah, I've heard that I do.  I'm hoping in the good way!
6. What would you title your autobiography?
Moo.
7. How many brushes with the law have your had and what were they?
I've had on ticket for getting in an accident, and I've had to go to court to dispute another ticket mailed to me despite it being addressed to someone else.
8. When playing Monopoly, which token do you typically use?
I haven't played Monopoly since I was a kid, but I think I was always fond of the dog.
9. How many times have you been under anesthesia?
Twice.  Once for my tonsillectomy and the second time for emergency stitches after the surgery when I woke up with a mouth full of blood.  Ah, memories!
10. Which of the Seven Deadly Sins are you most frequently guilty of?
Pretty difficult, but I think I'd have to stick with Envy.  It prolly would motivate any other sins I may tap into.

And now we should all say hi to Alex and welcome him and invite him to comment frequently!
