If I were a hero, I'd be Martin Luther (Part 4608)...

 Superhero Anydays

Today we have a panel from an Avengers comic book showing a mostly awesome lineup.

Left to right we have: Triathlon, Goliath (Hank Pym), Wasp, Ms. Marvel (aka Warbird), Vision, Scarlet Witch, and She-Hulk.

A prtty powerful team with some great heroes (except for Triathlon who was sadly pretty stupid).  And Wanda's sadly in her 'gypsy streetwalker whore' costume, her worst.  Surprisingly created by the Maestro George Perez one of his extremely rare misfires on costume design.

And today we also have a Spider-Man and Batman teamup at a convention somewhere.

If I were a hero, I'd be Martin Luther (Part 4595)....

 Superhero Anydays

So I don't know the artist, but we've got an interesting batch of Justice Leaguers vs a batch of Avengers, for some reason.

I see Captain America, She-Hulk, Thor, Quasar, Iron Man and Wasp (a very powerful lineup actually) and I see they're battling the JLAers: Green Lantern, The Flash, Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, Zauriel, Martian Manhunter and for some unknown reason, Krypto!

Weird.

And today we also have a gender bent Harley Quinn cosplayer.

This is DC's Martian Manhunter and Marvel's Hulk (both green obviously), switching costumes.

Is Marvel's Doctor Strange and DC's Adam Strange (both have the same last name, obviously) switching costumes.

Marvel's Namor, The Sub-Mariner and DC's Aquaman (both King Of Atlantis in their respective universe), switching costumes.

This is Marvel's Mr. Fantastic and DC's Plastic Man (both stretchy heroes) switching costumes.

And this is Marvel's Wonder Man and DC's Wonder Woman (both wonders, obviously) switching costumes.

 Superhero Anydays

This great piece (that I had to put sideways so you all could enjoy it in detail) is by artist Alex Garcia, and it shows DC's Earth-2's Justice Society Of America vs Marvel's Avengers!  And they're roughly paired up power-wise-ish.

Johnny Thunder and his magic Thunderbolt vs Thor; Wonder Woman vs Hercules; Green Lantern vs Vision; Huntress vs Black Widow; The Atom vs Captain America; Power Girl vs Ms. Marvel; Starman vs Iron Man; Superman vs Jocasta; Hawkman vs Falcon, Dr. Fate vs Scarlet Witch; The Flash vs Quicksilver.

And today we have a pretty awesome cosplay by some kids doing the Fantastic Four!

The Thing, Human Torch, Invisible Woman, and Mr. Fantastic (with even his temples died gray).

Today, we have an amazing panel from the Avengers/JLA teamup miniseries as drawn by the Maestro George Perez.  I put on it's side so all the glorious detail be more easily seen and appreciated.

Iron Man, Thor, Aquaman, Martian Manhunter, The Flash, Vision, Giant Man, Batman, Green Lantern, Wonder Woman, Wasp, Superman (with Captain America's shield, And Scarlet Witch.

Such an outstanding artist.

 Perez Appreciation Post

The Maestro George Perez illustrated the expansive JLA/Avengers miniseries.  This panel is not from that series, but it DOES show the JLA vs The Avengers, with each hero battling their most similar opponent.

Superman vs Thor (both super strong, tough, etc)
Batman vs Captain America (both superb hand to hand combatants)
Wonder Woman vs Hercules (both superstrong with Greek mythology connections)
Green Lantern vs Iron Man (both powered by devices)
Flash vs Quicksilver (both speedsters)
Martian Manhunter vs Vision (both multipowered with intangibility one of their powers and not human)
Green Arrow vs Hawkeye (both archers)
The Atom vs Wasp (both shrinkers)
Zatanna vs Scarlet Witch (both mystics)
Firestorm vs Captain Marvel (both energy powers)

Surprised he didn't included Aquaman vs Namor the Sub-Mariner, but even Perez can only fit so much into one panel.

I would not sell my collection, for if I did, I could cry (Part 114)....

Today In The History Of Polt's Comic Book Collection

Today, we travel back 29 years to May of 1996 and the comic DC Versus Marvel #4!

This  was a joint venture mini-series by both major comic book companies.  They put out things earlier for the fans to vote on who would win certain battles: Superman vs Captain America, Batman vs Wolverine, Wonder Woman vs Storm, Aquaman vs Namor,  etc.  Some of the battles the companies decided ahead of time, others they followed by what the fans said.   I dont really remember WHY the various heroes were fighting (other than to satisfy fan boys masturbatory fantasies) and what the resolution was....but I know I have all the issues in the miniseries.

If I were a hero, I'd be Martin Luther (Part 4007)....

 Superhero Anydays

Forty some years ago, DC and Marvel worked together to publish a few cross company team ups.  One was between the two hottest teams from each company: The Teen Titans and the Uncanny X-Men.  I forget who wrote it, but it was drawn by Walter Simonson.  Here is the cover:

Raven (TT), Cyborg (TT), Wolverine (XM), Changling (TT), Sprite (XM), Colossus (XM), Kid Flash (TT), Storm (XM), Robin (TT), Wonder Girl (TT), Nightcrawler (XM), Cyclops (XM), Starfire (TT)
Above them are the bad guys Darkseid (DC) and Dark Phoenix (Marvel) flanking the X-Men's Professor X sitting in DC's Mobius chair.

The story was, as I recall, convoluted.  And while I didn't really like it, I didn't dislike it either.  It was just kinda meh.  But I had hopes for more teamups forth coming (we had already has Superman/Spiderman and Batman/Hulk).  But nope, this was it.  The two companies had a falling out over the JLA/Avengers teamup and no more were done.  And it'd take over 20 years to get a JLA/Avengers teamup done.

And today we also have an Invincible cosplayer.

 Perez Appreciation Post

This is one of THE most amazing comic book covers panels!  Not only is it BY The Maestro George Perez, but it also shows the Avengers clashing with the Justice League.  AND it shows damn near every member of every team.  AND, they paired up kinda with their 'twin' in the other team. I'm not going to name them all, but it's like the all-powerful Thor vs the all-powerful superman; the tall strong Amazon like She-Hulk vs the actual Amazpn Wonder Woman; the speedster Quicksilver vs the speedster Flash; the magical Scarlet Witch vs the magical Zatanna; the aquatic Sub-Mariner vs the aquatic Aquaman; the shrinking Wasp vs the shrinking Atom; etc, etc, etc.  It's truly an amazing piece of work.

Appreciate, then you can....ring my bell (Part 11)...

 Perez Appreciation Post

Several years ago, DC and Marvel finally got their shit together and did a JLA/Avengers teamup miniseries. Of course the ONLY person to draw it was the Master George Perez.  This two page spread is from the first issue, when the two teams meet for the first time.

On the left: Avengers.  Hawkeye, Thor, Captain America, Quicksilver, Ironman, Scarlet Witch and Vision
On the right: JLA.  Martian Manhunter, Wonder Woman, Batman, The Flash, Aquaman, Plastic Man, Green Lantern, and Superman.

He drew them all differently, but I mean, look at the background, the details, and the facial expressions too.  He's just The Master!

Today In The History Of Polt's Comic Book Collection

Today we go back to February of 1997, and a cross-company special: Batman And Captain America!

It takes place in World War II, with Cap and Bats (and their sidekicks, Bucky & Robin) battling the Joker and The Red Skull!  And it's drawn in the manner of comic books of that time, by John Byrne.

I probably post this before.  I don't care. It's worthy of posting again.  It's the cover Perez drew to the complication of the four issue Avengers/JLA miniseries.

I'm not gonna bother to name them all, but if there was a hero who was a major member of either the Avengers or the JLA at any point, then their headshot is here.

If I were a hero, I'd be Martin Luther (Part 2052)......

 Superhero Anydays

Today, someone took the cover artwork done by the Great George Perez for the early 80s JLA/Avengers crossover that never happened, they added some art and things to it, colored it, and we have this lil piece of awesomeoness below.

It shows the members of each team, with their rough parallels in the exact same position on the other side (except for the two at the top....no way Hawkwoman is a parallel for the Hulk).  An amazing piece of work,  both by Perez and by whoever did the other stuff.

On the left, we have the Avengers: She-Hulk, Hercules, Hawkeye, Ant-Man, The Wasp
Namor, Black Widow, The Beast
Captain America, Thor
Vision, Scarlet Witch, Iron Man
Starfox, Quicksilver, Captain Marvel
Hulk

In the middle, The Lord Of Time a JLA villain with half a face of Kang an Avengers villain.

On the right: Martian Manhunter, Wonder Woman, Green Arrow, The Arom
Aquaman, Black Canary, Elongated Man
Batman, Superman
Red Tornado, Zatanna, Firestorm
Hawkman, The Flash, Green Lantern
Hawkwoman
