A chaise divan, that I don't mind....

I just saw this commercial, and I damn near did a spit-take with my Diet Snapple Lemon Tea!

Oh my GOD, that is SO funny!

And I'm pretty sure, that if I had a chair just like that, I too would roll around on it and call it a 'shaaaaaaaaay-ze'.

Out loud.

Even when no one else was in the house.

While wearing a scarf wrapped around my head.

Several times a day.

She got gifts to give, but she ain't giving....

Ya know, my birthday is coming up next month, and Christmas the month after.  If anyone is looking for a gift for me but just can't seem to think of anything to get that I don't already have, may I suggest the following?

A Tub Chock Full O'Asians!

Especially that one with the abs who's laying on his back there in the middle.  Although, really, I'd gladly take a tub looking just like that one.  I'm not that picky.

MOTIVATION

So true, so true.

POLT
So when I got off work today and come home (well after stopping off at a friend's house for some bedtimesexxyfun) I decided to take a walk.  It was like over 75 degress, very warm and very nice out.  So I changed into shorts, put in the earbuds, and off I went.

Today I walked 1.79 miles in 28 minutes.

Not a long walk to be sure, in either time or distance, but even a walk like this one is better than sitting on the couch for a half hour.

POLT

Fetch the remote control, we got football tonight (Week 8)...

Let's see how I did this past week:

1) Washington won, which is a Boo, but since they beat Dallas, that's a double BOO!!!
2) Dallas lost, a Boo, but they lost to Washington, to another double BOO!!!
3) I won both pics with ALCMDPP, so he now owes me $11.
4) The team I picked in the Work Winner's Pool, Seattle, won, which is a YAY.

BUT, my anger and frustration with Dallas is tempered a bit because, since they lost, three of the five remaining people in the Work Winner's Pool were kicked out, leaving just me and one other person.  And we both agreed to split the money.  So the Winner's Pool is over (the Work Loser's Pool starts in two weeks), Dallas lost, but because of it, I ended up $185 richer.

That money pretty much soothes any hurt feelings I have over Dallas' loss, ya know?

Who is this stranger, who comes here every night....

True story:

I looked in my book this afternoon and got a list of the cards I needed for November, one of which was the oldest ParisPeking daugher named Abby.  I also had her birthday written down as 2001, making her turning 13 this year.

When I was at the store picking out the cards, I got to thinking, "Can Abby really be 13?  She's pretty small.  But then, kids age differently...and this IS the year I had written down."  So I got a card for a 13 year old girl.

Cut to several hours later (just about 15 minutes ago) when I pull the cards out to sign them, address them and get them all ready to be mailed later next month.  I signed Abby's card, put the $10 inside and before I licked the envelope, I got to thinking again, "Hmmm, if Abby's 13, the means the other girls are like 11 and 9....and I KNOW they're not that old.  I better just call."

So I dialed the home number of the ParisPekings.  A Local Celebrity, Mr. David ParisPeking picked it up and this conversation happened:

ALCMDPP: Hello.
POLT: How old is Abby?
ALCMDPP: Who is this?
POLT (surprised): How old is Abby gonna be?
ALCMDPP: Who IS this?
POLT (Thinking Abby might be right next to him): Is she gonna be 13?
ALCMDPP: WHO is this?
POLT: .....are you kidding?

And he hung up.

And I thought, "WHAT THE HELL?"  I further thought, "Was he serious?  What WAS all that?  How did he not know my voice?"  And THEN I thought, "Well I sure as hell can't call him back to see what was going on.  He might call the cops!"  So I texted him.

I had just sent the text when my phone rang, it was his number.  I barely got the word Hello out when he starts explaining something about being in the basement and the phone down there doesnt have caller ID, and it's an old phone so it's kinda static-y and he just couldn't really hear everything and it didn't sound like me and he was SO sorry.

And we laughed.  And then I found out Abby turns 10, not 13.

POLT: Hmm, so do you know a girl who's turning 13 soon, cause I've got a card for her.
ALCMDPP: I can say my knowledge of 13 year old girls is pretty lacking.
POLT: Well, it's better than MY knowledge of 13 year old girls.
ALCMDPP: Hmm, good point.

So, in the end, after ALCMDPP's paranoia got the better of him, after I was done laughing and being mystified, and after getting everything all straightened out, the bottom line is....I have to buy another birthday card.  *SIGH*

POLT
Today, I had my follow up appointment with the Doctor.  I have now idea why, or more importantly HOW, I scheduled the appointment for 8:30 in the morning?  What the fuck was I thinking, setting up the appointment that freakin early?  But I did somehow get up and get there on time.  And that was the start a VERY busy day!

The doctor told me to increase the insulin units from 10 to 15 a night.  And that's really the only change.  So that went well overall.

Then, since I hadn't gotten up in time to eat, I went to Denny's for breakfast.  Delicious.

Then I ran to Sam's cause I needed stuff, including toilet paper, bathroom cups, trash bags, some Clariton, a few other things.

Then I went to Ollie's to peruse the books and picked up some (but that's another post entirely).

I came home, dropped that stuff off, gathered a few things up, and left again, stopping first at the Post Office to mail several bills.

Then to the Credit Union to put $38 in rolled coins I had collected into my accounts.

Then to the auto parts store for new windshiled wipers.

Then to the Hallmark store to buy my cards for November.

Then to get some lunch.  I brought it home and ate it and then got online.

And then made arrangements with a really cute guy I've been chatting with for some weeks.  Our schedules finally aligned and he stopped by and there was much bedtimesexxyfun.  And after he left, and I caught my breath, I got on here to post this.

And all this before 2:30 in the afternoon.

I've done more in those 6 hours than I probably will every night this coming week!

Outside wearing my device, I came back in....

So today, the glucometer and the lancing device that my insurance covers arrived.   It's OneTouch.  And compared to the one the doctor gave me from her office, FreeStyle (which my insurance doesn't cover), well, the OneTouch simply....sucks.

When I got the FreeStyle home almost two weeks ago, it was easy to put the strip in the glucometer, the lancet in the lancing device and pull it out of the device when I was done.  The lancet usually got me a drop of blood the first time.  And it was extremely easy to get the blood onto the strip.  The entire time, from opening the box to putting everything back after the first test, took like 5 minutes.  It was that easy.

But of COURSE, the one that insurance WILL cover....well it does NONE of that.    I struggled with that for over 15 minutes.  And unlike the FreeStyle, I had to check the instructions THREE TIMES!

The lancing devices twists instead of pulling the end off.  Getting the used lancet out of the device is not easy.  I had to try to like four times and two lancets to get an adequate amount of blood.  I had to go through two strips until I figured out how to put the strip int eh glucometer correctly.

It's honestly a piece of crap compared to the other one.

But it's free since my insurance covers all of it.  So there is that....

Took over your town, kings get the crown...

Timeline:

Aug 30: Make dentist appointment for Sep 29 to get a crown on tooth that's mostly just filling.
Sep 6: Filling pops out of that specific tooth.
Sep 7: Dentist puts in a temp filling in tooth, basically just a lump of wax
Sep 10: Temp wax filling pops out.  Dont put anything in to fill hole, but move appointment for temp crown up to Sep 17
Sep 17: Get temp crown.  Keep appointment of Sep 29 for placement of final crown
Sep 29: Go to dentist's office, told the crown hasn't arrived yet.  Told receptionist to call me when it's in, and we'll set up appointment to put it on then.
Oct 17: Gave up on waiting, called dentist's office. "Oh it just arrived yesterday."  Ohhhh-kay. Appointment made for Oct 23 to get permanent crown on.
Oct 23: Taking half day off work (I've no problem with that I assure you!), got the permanent crown put on.

YAY!  The ordeal is over.  Well it's not really been an ordeal, more of an inconvenience.   But I'm really tired of chewing food on just the left side of my head.

The dentist did it all without Novocaine.  And you're thinking I shouldn't need Novocaine to just put a crown on.  But if that's the case, then you don't know me.  I'm a huge wussbaby when it comes to teeth pain.  And yanking the temp off was a bit...disconcerting.  And then he cleaned it out before putting the crown on and musta hit a nerve cause there was a sharp quick pain.  But that was it. And he did all that an had the crown on before I could even protest about the lack of Novocaine.

The worst part was the taste of the...well I guess glue, the adhesive he used to put the crown on.  Yeah, that was pretty icky, and he apologized for it when I complained about it.  Not like it's his fault or anything.

So yeah, that's all taken care of.  And I still love my dentist!

POLT

Fetch the remote control, we got football tonight (Week 7)...

SO how did I do last week?

1) Washington won, so Boo there.
2) Dallas won, so YAY!
3) In the pics with ALCMDPP, my record was 1-2, which wasn't good, but overall I'm still up by $9 so that's good.  So I guess this one's a tie.
4) And the team I picked in the work winner's pool, Arizona, won.  So that's big YAY!

And that makes this week's score 2-1-1.  So overall, I suppose it's a meager YAY kinda week.
