Undress me, will I look like a fool (Part 142)...

Since New Years Day fall on a Thurdays, Os is changing things around a bit (just like last week) and he's given us a theme (just like last week). So that means, today is...

This week, to makes things easy on us, Os has again asked us to just show our favorite HNT from that past year. He's done this over the past few years as well, and each time, since I love all my HNT's, I just choose whichever one got the most comments, and assume that everyone else's favorite HNT and post that. Which I'll do again this year...except, two of my HNT's tied with 22 comments each. So I'll just list them both and call it a tie!

First we have this one from March 6th, and it was during another theme week. We were supposed to show "You And Your Mac". This was the result:

Since I've never owned a Mac, I just had to go with a Big Mac!

And the second one in the tie is from May 15, and is yet another theme week (I didn't realize how many of these Os seems to have throughout the year until now!), but this time it was in honor of HNT's Third Anniversary. Our HNT was to involve 'three' somehow, and this was my submission:

It's three clocks, all showing the time of 3:33...and the microwave clock has three threes in it...oh, so many threes, it's practically a three-gasm! And just coincidentally, both of these were taken in my kitchen...I wonder if that has anything to do with their popularity.....

I'll never catch all the memories i'm chasing...

Okay, this one's gonna be kind of a catch-all for a bunch of little stuff I want to say, but not enough that they warrant their own post.

1. I've got a new poll posted over in the sidebar on the left. Vote away.

2. A commentor mentioned Don, and I thought I should answer it here in case anyone else is interested. Don and I have...drifted apart. It was kinda more so on my part. I never really felt comfortable with the whole situation, ya know, waiting for his partner to die so we could be together, even if his partner was fine with the whole deal. Just seemed a bit too morbid for me. And while the sex was great, Don was just a bit too...demanding. No, that's not the word. Well, I'll put it this way, several times I felt like saying, "Yes your ass is one of the best I've ever seen, and I DO love kissing you and cuddling, but geez, why not suck MY cock once in a while, eh?" Does that sum it up? That's the way he was, and I didn't see him changing, and I didn't want to do ALL the work, ya know? Although he WAS a great guy, and the sex...some of the best. But it just was not meant to be.

3. Read the latest Torchwood book in three days! Great read. And I LOVE Ianto on the cover with half his face clown-like (see photo in sidebar).

4. Speaking of books, this is rundown of the books I've read this year:
  • History - 6
  • Star Trek - 5
  • Gay - 4
  • Fantasy (D&D-esque) - 3
  • Superheroes - 3
  • Torchwood - 2
  • Politics - 2
  • General Sci-Fi - 2
  • Other - 1
And yeah, this is pretty representative of my reading habits as a whole. (although I'd kinda expect there to be more politics)

5. My Toronto calendars (I ordered three of them) arrived today, and I skimmed quickly through the photos. Damn, I LOVE that city.

6. Was going to try to do laundry again today...and didn't. Instead, slept in, went to eat lunch with mom and grandma, went to grocery store and then Wal-Mart. Did get a lot of things done I needed to...but no laundry. And I got mom a REAL digital camera, to replace that plastic cheap-ass one I got her for Christmas. I was truly ashamed when we opend the box and looked at it. Truly shameful camera it was. Glad I got to get her a real one.

7. The Dallas Cowboys didn't even make the playoffs. *SIGH* Yeah, Detroit going 0-16 was pretty damn bad, but really it's Detroit, did anyone expect anything else? But Dallas...they SHOULD have done better. It's a disgrace.

I know there were other things that I've since forgotten. Oh well, I can always make another one of these posts if I need to.

TMI Tuesdays

1. Last week was "The Most Wonderful time of the Year", but what are your favorite 2008 memories? Well, if look directly above, I have a whole post devoted to the top ten things of 2008. You can just read for yourself there.
2. What is the best thing you learned in 2008? I don't have to put up with negativity if I don't want to.
3. On a scale of 1-10, how good was your 2008? Probably an 8 or 9.
4. What is your wish for 2009? What is your wish for someone else for 2009? My wish is for improved health by losing weight and getting my diabetes under control. My wish for someone else is not for anyone specifically, but I wish in 2009 we, as a country, can get our priorities straight and get ourselves back on track.
5. Where was the first place you ever passionately kissed? In my bedroom with Wayne. We were probably in 8th grade or so, and I remember cause it's the first time I actually really kissed a guy, and the first time I Frenched kissed anyone.
Bonus (as in optional):Do you make New Year's resolutions? What is/are your's for 2009? I generally don't, no reason to not follow through and then get disappointed. But this year, I think I'll work on losing weight, trying to suffer fools with more patience, and keeping up with posting to my purple blog.

Another wasted day counting shades of gray...

Just as an aside, this is my 3,600th post. Since June 2005. That's like 86 posts a month...just a bit less than 3 posts a day. Who knew I could be so blogically profiecient?

As a second aside, I'm posting this from my laptop, whom I shall call Della, for obvious reasons. I still don't know if she's a necessity, but it is kinda sweet to sit on the couch, listening to the electronica station on the music channels on cable and type about stupid stuff.

I had something of a wasted day today. Which is fine, everyone needs wasted days. I got up a bit late, piddled around on the computer, showered, and headed to moms. She made me breakfast, God love her, and then I took her to the hospital for some blood work, went to the Credit Union, the Dollar Store, and a grocery store. I then came back home and read some before deciding to take a nap. A nap that started about 1:30 and lasted to 5:00...hence the wasted day.

I'm not complaining, really Im not, but this deal of having 5 days off, working two and then having 5 more off....not sure how I feel about that. I mean, what can there possibly be for me to do these second 5 days that I didn't do that first 5 days? Oh well, sometime over the summer I'll be bitching about how I haven't had any time off and how I need a vacation, and then would be the time for all of you to remind me of this particular post.

Also today, recently, I was invited to a hibatchi place on Saturday. I've been to one of those before, about 10 years ago, and didn't really like it. but then, at that time, I didn't reall like Asian food. And since it's my friend Michelle that invited me, I figured I know I'll have a good time. Her friend Celeste is going too, as well as Celeste's daughter, and her daughter's gay friend Todd. I'm not certain if this is a case of them trying to set two gay guys up on a date, although I think it may be. And it's quite sweet of them. But we'll have to see how things go on that front on Saturday itself. If nothing else, as I said above, I'm sure I'll have a fun time regardless.

And as a third aside, allow me to state that the Retro-Active station on cable, that plays early 80's New Wave music is pretty cool as well...listening to the Cure right now.

So despite being a wasted day, it really wasn't an uninteresting one.

Till the top dog eat, tryna' stop my meal...

Before I forget, this is the spread mom put out on Christmas day!

Turkey, stuffing, mashed potatos, sweet potatos, corn, buns, and...ew, sauerkraut. All of it was delicious...well, except for the sauerkraut, which I will not go near, so I've no idea how bad it tasted.

Later, as mom, grandmas and I sat and watched Ice Age 2, Angel laid on the floor at our feet. She has with her the gift from the neighborlady who watches her sometimes. It's a bright green, vaguely humanoid shaped squeak toy.

I've named it Snot. And she knows it as that, cause when I tell her "Go get your snot, go get your snot!" she gets it and brings it to me. She's a good dog.

my dreams inside my head again, after christmas...

first, let me say that I am writing this on my new laptop (I oughtta come up with a name for it, hmm...) while sitting on my bed. First time I've ever done that. Pretty nifty.

Anyway, I wanted to make sure everyone knew I had survived Target the day after Christmas. I think what's more surprising is that I actually managed to get my ass up at 6:30 am. But I did it, and got showered and all and got to Target in plenty of time. There were quite a few cars in the parking lot, but when I went into the store, it looked pretty empty. Until, of course, I got into the back corner where the holiday stuff was. Oh, how horrible that was.

People had their carts lined up on both sides of the aisle, some sitting unattended, some with people standing behind them. At any rate, it left a center area barely wide enough to handle a cart...which many people were tryingto push through. And then there were the cartless ones, like myself, who still had trouble manuvering because of all the stupids carts.

And people were going through stuff, almost throwing them aside. I mean they had a whole row of nothing but wrapping paper, and more than a quater of them were just laying all about, not in the boxes. Crazy.

I'm glad i went thought, cause in previous years, target had an entire wall full of leftover Christmas cards. This year, they only had one small section. If I had stopped by after work, I would not only had have to deal with a lot more cars and traffic, I'm sure, but there might not have been any cards left. Which would have forced me to then go to... *SHUDDER*...Wal-Mart. On the day after Christmas. *double shudder*

But despite all this, I still managed to get my cards, and get out of the store and to work with more than a half hour to spare. And I did it with all limbs attached, and not bleeding anywhere, and with not traffic accidents. Always a good set of things to occur.

On christmas day, a young gentleman came...

My Christmas Day, by Polt.

Got up early (by my standards) about 8:00. Had breakfast. Got online for a bit. Showered, shaved, gathered up some clothes and mom's gifts and went to her house. Threw the laundry in, then exchanged gifts with mom. Got a fire extinguisher (which I already know about), the annual Star Trek trek ornament, a Superman ornamant, a Patsy Cline CD (LOVE her), and a check for some money for my laptop. How sweet.

Read the paper, read a book, ate lunch with mom and grandma. Watched Ice Age 2 with both of them as well. Finished the laundry. Came home and watched the last three episodes of Series 4 of Doctor Who and was freaking blown away! May or may not have shed a few tears at the end, both tears of joy and sadness. Got back online for a bit. Took a half hour walk. Stopped by mom's to pick up leftovers. Came home and ate leftover turkey sandwich (yummy!). Read some, got online here.

Going to bed soon as I've got to get up about 6:00 to get to Target for next year's Christmas cards (half off!) and then to work by 8:00. Crazy, I know, but I've NEVER been out early the day after Christmas, and since I've got to go to work anyway, why not experience it, I figure. Let you know how stupid of an idea it was tomorrow.

Hope your Christmas day was equally fun, filling and relaxing!

POLT Listening to Christmas music

Never worry about the size of your Christmas tree. In the eyes of children, they are all 30 feet tall. - Larry Wilde

on a cold christmas eve, you promised me....

So, how did your Christmas Eve go, Polt? Why thanks for asking.

It started out with me waking up NOT sick...and that's a pretty damn good thing. You don't know how much you take your health for granted until you're tummy upset and you're feverish and achey over a few days.

I had intended on getting up early and getting some laundry done, as I had a hair appointment at 3:30. But then late last night, Johnnie called. He's back in town from Philadelphia for the holidays and wanted to get together for lunch. So since we were going that, there was no way I could get any laundry before I needed to go to lunch, so....I slept in. Always a sweet thing to do.

I got up, got online for a bit, then read some and showered and was on my way. Johnnie ate at Cafe Del Sol in Greencastle. Had a delicious meal, and a fun and interesting conversation, as always. And he told me that he's got a 50% chance of getting to do some of his graduate work next year at the University Of Toronto. TORONTO!!! How thrilled was I at that?

After I managed to not spit by Pepsi out onto him when he told me, he continued to say that he figured he'd just have to have one room put aside, the "Polt Room" where I'd stay when I came up every other week or so. I told him I thought it might be more often than that. He said that was fine with him, but he wasn't so sure about me bringing guys back to his place that I just picked up. I reminded him that both Sam and George took me back to their homes (and Sam to one apartment he was housesitting), and I'd only ever brough Ed and Fizul back to the hotel room...albeit more than once usually. Still, though, if it's gonna get me in Toronto, and NOT have to pay for a hotel room, I'll sleep on the floor and fuck guys in the bushes outside for all I care!

After eating, we kinda puttered around the strip mall, cause there wasn't really anywhere else to go in Greencastle. We ended up just walking through the local Food Lion for something to do. Oh, but you're saying, "Polt, you and Johnnie couldn't possibly be that lame, could you?" Well, here's a photo of Johnnie checking out the Ben And Jerry's.

After this, we stood outside a grocery store and talked for a bit, probably 20 minutes or so. Then we hugged, wished each other Merry Christmas, and went our seperate ways.

As it was just 1:00 or so, I drove to Borders to waste some time. Big mistake, going to a shopping center on Christmas Eve. I managed to avoid most of the traffic by going in the back way through a housing development, but the place was a madhouse! the line in Borders was so long so that even if I saw something I wanted, I wasn't gonna wait that long to buy it. After about a half hour, I just left, fighting through the traffic, and drove downtown to get my comics.

When I got there, I had forgotten that he was having a sale, so i spent time shopping through there. It was 50% off some stuff, but like 40% off most stuff. Still, this is like the fourth sale he's had since the summer, so I already had most of what I wanted. I might go back, because at those prices, how can I lose, eh?

After this, I went to get my hair cut-N-colored. And then I returned home. I was going then to do some laundry...but again, it was cold and damp and rainy, and mom was going to church so it would just be me and the dog, and did I really wanna go back outside. So I didn't.

I watched some episodes of the New Dr. Who (halfway through season 4), talked to Dave S. on the phone a bit and then remembered I still had to wrap mom's gifts. So I got that done.

I didn't wrap the fire extinguisher cause I got that when she was with me, when she told me she wanted one. No need to wrap it, she knows she's getting it. But still, the bow gussies it up just enough, eh?

Then I had a cup of tea, read some more, and now I'm typing this. Ahead is probably more reading, or more Dr. Who and then to bed, cause I have GOT to get the laundry done tomorrow, so I'll need to get up a bit early. And I've got to be asleep so Santa can bring me the gifts, ya know?

Since Christmas falls on a Thursday this year, Os wants us to post Wendsday morning first thing instead of Thursday, so that means its time for....

As in prior years, Os has given us a theme for Christmas week: Christmas wishes. We're supposed to give three wishes to three people we wouldn't ordinarily send Christmas greetings to. In the past, I have done this, but this year, what with being so busy, I didn't have time to think up three people and the gifts. So I'm doing a modified version of the theme. I'm going to give three wishes to EVERYONE who visits the Palace today, whether you're here because of HNT, or are a regular visitor, or have just stumbled upon the Palace by accident (and God help you if you came here and didn't know what to expect!).

My wishes for all of you are pretty simple:

flying high, mud all over my face...

So, after having some toast and ginger ale, a warm shower and a shave, I'm feeling better. Still not 100%, but well enough to get online and sit up and walk around and stuff. I'm not dizzy anymore. And I want to get to my Saturday stuff, which i wanted to post yesterday, but obviously that didn't happen. So I shall do that now.

Saturday morning (after having left Michelle's party and not gone to sleep until about 1:00am), I somehow managed to get up about 6:30am. I don't have any idea how either. But I got ready and left for work.

It was only then that I noticed that the passenger side of my car was totally completely splattered with mud. At first, I thought I might have done it trying to drive around in the waterlogged field next to Michelle's house, but it was only on that one side. And then I remembered the girl who got her car stuck and I had to move Miss Cleo so they could get her out. Yeah, she probably sat there and spun her wheels, kicking up all kinds of mud on my car. I didn't notice it at night because, obviously, it was dark. But it was very clear and plain to see in the daylight. See below:

And the temps haven't really been above freezing, so I haven't been able to take it to a car wash yet to clean it off...although that very well may occur tomorrow, as it's supposed to be a bit warmer.

So anyway, I got to work and had a relatively easy day. I didn't have too much to do, and I had prepared things on Thursday so they were ready to go Saturday. It was a altogether not a bad day. And I left about 20 minutes early, cause of what else I had to do.

I left work, came home, grabbed my gifts and went to moms. We both then went and got my grandmother and then drove to my uncle's for our family Christmas. There were perhaps 25 or so people there. We ate a great meal, then exchanged gifts, primarily the 5 kids (11 yr old, 8 yr old, 5 yr old, 3 yr old and 2 yr old). I think its great the my grandmother gets to be the great-grandmother to five kids. And shes lucid enough to still get by, neither her mind nor her body have failed her, even though neither are what they once were. Its quite nice to have four generations all together, and all of us were there that could be there. And instead of exchanging gifts between the adults, we decided to just have each of us give money and then we'd make one large donation to the National Cance Society in the name of my grandfather and dad, both of whom died from cancer.

After this fun evening, we all came home. I got home about 8:30...in time to watch Dallas lose to the Ravens, dammit (they still control their own destiny to get a playoff spot), but it was also only the first time since Thursday night that I spent any real time at home (other than the 5.5 hours of sleep I got Friday night). How great it was to relax and NOT have to be on the run doing things.

And of course, I have some photos.

My cousins Cam and Lexi.
