The object of my desire, I'm walking on a wire (Part 179)...

Walks 2019

Today I walked 1.49 miles in 30 minutes.

It wasn't a long walk because it's so hot and humid today. However, today is the 17th walk I've taken the month of June!  I walked every even number day except the 18th, and two odd numbered days too.  I hope I can keep this up.

(oh and the rest of the year, January through May, I only walked 9 times total).

Seen on today's walk: The Cactus Castle!

MAPS!

Today's map shows the average median household income by state.

Blue is highest, then orange, then green, then red.

I find it mildly interesting that all the highest ones (the blue ones) are Democratic states, except for Alaska, and all the lowest ones (the red ones) are Republican states, except for New Mexico.  AND, that there are LOT more poor Republican states than richer Democratic ones.

But you voters in the poor Republican states, you keep voting Republican, cause their policies are obviously so much better than Democratic policies.

Today In The History Of Polt's Comic Book Collection

Today we're going all the way back to June 1974 and Justice League Of America #111!

I wasn't collecting titles each month at this time (I was only 7 years old for God's sake!), but would buy the comics off the rack with the coolest covers.  And I must have thought this was THE coolest cover, because my weekly allowance was only a dollar, and this one cost 60 cents!  That means, this would be the only one I could get that week. Course, it DID have THREE stories in it, one original (with the Injustice Gang, and their first appearance!  LOVED THEM!), one from the JLA comics in the 60s, and one from the Golden Age, back int eh 1940s!

SO MUCH for just 60 cents!  Ahhhh, the good old days.

Walks 2019

Today I took a walk, but since it's over 90 and extremely humid, I only walked 1.25 miles in 26 minutes.

Seen on today's walk: A used condom along the curb...but it IS purple, my favorite color, so there's that.....

Today, is the 50th Anniversary of the Stonewall Riots, the beginning of the Gay Rights Movement.

Related image

Back on June 28th, 1969, when the cops again raided the gay bar called the Stonewall Inn, the patrons had had enough.  The drag queens, the transvestites, the transgendered, the hustlers, the street kids, all fought back.  And said enough was enough!  And because of those brave men and women back then, I am now able to live, work, play, and survive.  And even though our rights, and our existence, and under threat thanks to the small minded, the bigots, the homophobes, the ignorant, and the just plain evil, I am still not PROUD to say I'm gay!  And thanks be to those who came before me who gave me the ability to be so.
