Only giving you the best reviews (Say it!)....

Last night, while surfing teh Interwebz, I discovered something that surprised me. And made me smile. There's this website called Gay Demon. It's a blog of gay stuff, varied and sundry. One thing they do there is review other gay blogs. And wouldn't you know it, they did a review of The Palace last November! I guess that's why there's been a marked increase in my visitors in the last three months.

The review is HERE. But as it's a blog that's NSFW, I thought I'd just copy the review itself for all to read here:

Polt's Palace is a pleasant diversion to a nicely modest yet still-hoppin' gay blog, dedicated more than anything to pictures of sexy young dudes wearing little and sometimes nothing at all. Polt goes for themes, however, such as "Shirtless Guys" and some more, quite a bit more revealing series. An American dude from Pennsylvania, he mentions his liberal tendencies in a rather opposite environment, so we give him props for some gusto and some cheeky resolve in these complex times. But Polt knows he is about sex and sexy studs - he has been doing this for a long time. His archives are absolutely bursting with images and subject matter, revealing that this blog, as well as his other ones, are the work of a nicely-committed man. Personally, I find it all very appealing. Sexy pictures, some solid interactions, some French-Kissing specialisto's, and many, many pictures of gorgeous hunks adorn these pages, making the trip through this blog a fascinating ride through a very consistent and hot level of gay male interest. Polt knows what he likes and he presents it well. This is a solid, groovy and very sexy blog.

How flattering! Solid, groovy and very sexy! Not only does it describe the Palace, but it describes ME as well.

I'm gonna add Gay Demon to my bloglist and have decided I shall visit there regularly. You should do that too, if for no other reason than the awesomely cool reviews they write there!

Every whisper aches....

We're under a winter storm watch here from now until Wednesday afternoon. They're calling for snow, sleet, freezing rain and ice over the course of the storm.

Yip-pee.

And I would have known this was coming without every having seen the Weather Channel. It's cause of my old, aging body. Apparently, I've got mild arthritis now.

Yip-pee squared.

Ten years ago, for a short period over the summer, I had horrible pains in the first joint of the pointer finger of my right hand. But it passed. Recently, since last year let's say, I've been having pains in the joints of the lowest joint of the pointer finger of my right hand down to the lowest joint of the adjoining thumb. And just since Sunday, my right big toe joint has been aching a bit. So I know we're gonna get some bad weather.

I suppose it's kinda cool having these precoginative abilities, but it sucks having it be painful and only about the weather. Why couldn't my joints ache when I was picking the winning lottery numbers?

Oops, I did it again....

Remember my fun with MRSA escapade last year? I remember it quite well. Well guess what? Yep, I got it again.

Although nowehere near as bad as I had it last time. Mainly cause I didn't wait this time. On Monday or Tuesday (I forgot which) I noticed a pimple on my chest near my left nipple. Through the week, I kept an eye on it and it didn't get better. In fact, it seemed to grow. Didn't look like a pimple though, looked like maybe a hair follicle got infected or something.

Today at work, I showed it to a nurse, asking if it was MRSA. She said it wasn't...yet. But she recommended a visit to the doctor...and not to wait until Monday. So I left work early and off to Urgent Care I went.

I had to wait a longer time this time, but the results were just as great. Everyone was friendly and professional. What happened was the doctor (who looked less like a doctor than the nurse I met first. The doctor was quite funny and she lectured me about diabetes whole time she was working on me.) numbed the area around it, which actually hurt like hell. Not the shot itself so much but rather whatever she was injecting into me, yeah, the burned and hurt. Then, without me looking cause there's no way I'd want to see this, she cut the area and squeezed it out. She said there was MRSA but it was teeny-tiny and she should have gotten the core and all that junk out already.

She said she took a culture and they'll let me know the result. She gave me anti-biotic ointment, told me to use it and hot compresses and it if wasn't better in 5 days, I was to get back to my regular doctor about it.

So thankfully we caught it in time. I didn't wait two weeks or more like the first time. Still, it sucks, but its much better than it could have been had I not been paying attention to it.

Live without warnin', without alright....

Well, it's happened. The Palace now has one of those "Content Warning" thingees on it. Which if you're reading this, you already know.

Frankly, I'm surprised it's taken this long. The Palace has been up and running since June of 2005. Five and half years is quite a run before getting one of those. Ah well, whatever. I guess this just means I'm playing with the big boys now.

Want my baby back, so now I pack a shovel...

They're calling for snow Wednesday night into Thursday. We're definitely gonna get 1-3 inches with a possibilty of up to 8 or more.

And I'm getting antsy at the thought of snow.

It never used to be that way. Certainly when I was home, as a kid, I'd LOVE the snow! Possible days off school, snowmen, snow angels, sledding in the alley, hot cocoa when I'd come in. LOVED it. And even when I lived in the apartment for 12 years, it didn't bother me. But now, since last year when we got all the blizzards, every time they call for snow, I get all anxious and ansty. And I'm now sure why.

I thought perhaps it was because of my car. I've not had Sebastian a year yet, and while we've gone through some snow together, I'm still not totally confident with him. Miss Cleo, hell, she was like another arm, she was like a part of me, even when it came to driving in snow, no problem. But Sebastian, I'm still a bit cautious with.

Maybe it's the shoveling. In the apartment, I had to do NO shoveling, the landlord paid someone to come do it. Oh I still had to shovel out my car, and it was a bitch trudging through shin high drifts all the way back to the offstreet parking. I have much less distance to go now. But I have a sidewalk now too. Granted, it's only between 15-20 feet of sidewalk, but still, I have to shovel it out. And do it in a timely manner so I don't get fined. Like last year. Whereas in the apartment, I didn't have to go out for days if that's what was required.

It can't be taking leave from work, cause I have more time now that I've had since my first year at work in 1996. Course, with us still short a person, and two of us having to do the work of three, I don't really want to get behind any worse than I am now. But one snow day isn't gonna back me up that much.

I don't know what it is then. Maybe I'm just getting old and the prospect of snow isn't fun any more. God, I hope that's NOT it.

Oscar....the grouch...

The Academy Award nominations are being announced today, and frankly, I don't care in even a little bit.

In the past, I have attended, and held, some Oscar parties. But that was mainly for the food, drink, and friendship. Not for the awards themselves. The Oscars, like the Emmys, Grammys, and I suppose Tonys (although I've never watched a Tonys award show), never go to the nominees I feel they should. In fact, I rarely agree with most of the nominees. So in recent years, I've not watched. What's the point?

Awards shows seem to me to be an orgy of self-promotion and self-aggrandizement filled with gratuitious fluff. The are too long, boring and in the end, mean absolutely nothing. With the exception of one case (Slumdog Millionaire) I have never seen a movie just because it won or was nominated for an Oscar. And honestly, I had thought about seeing Slumdog Millionaire anyway before it was nominated from what I had heard about it, but decided to wait for it to come out on Netflix. So that one case, in all the 30 some years that I've been aware of the Oscars, is the only one where the Oscars changed my mind.

But the movies (and songs, and tv shows and, I suppose plays) that I enjoy either are not nominated or never win. So why should I care who does win? As I stated above, its not gonna change my mind on seeing a movie or not.

If I want to watch a bunch of overpaid egomaniacs in obscenely priced clothing blather on and on saying things I couldn't care less about, I'll just turn on C-SPAN.

Lives forever, these tales are classical...

In an effert to combat my road rage on the way to, and especially the home from, work, I've found a radio station that plays classical music. It's NPR, I believe. At any rate, it keeps me calm and soothed, more or less, throughout thr drive. Despite the idiots I encounter on the roads.

At any rate, I've discovered a few things. I've discovered I like orchestra music, even if I can't always tell which insturments are playing, nor knowing the composers names. Nor actually having even heard of most of the composers when they're names are mentioned.

What I do NOT like is the harpischord. It's screechy. And shrill. Sounds whiny. And every time I hear it, I think of the Addams Family. Nope, don't like it at all. Plus, I've determined I don't like prominent flutes. Flutes as part of the rest of the music is fine, but when there's flute solos or flutes prominently featured, they're just too shrill for my ears. And they sound snotty to boot. Just don't like 'em.

Don't much care for opera either, but that's another post, I suppose.

So far this playoff season, I've been REALLY sucking at prognostication. My recond is 2-6.

Okay, break here, A Local Celebrity, Mr. David ParisPeking is demanding that I stop whatever I am typing right THIS VERY SECOND and make sure that everyone reading knows that he says, and I quote, "S'up."

Okay, having gotten that out of the way, allow me to get back to the point of this post. My picks are for the Bears to beat the Packers and the Jets to beat the Steelers.

Those picks come from my heart. My head tells me the Packers and the Steelers are gonna win. But i just can't pick those. If the Bears get to the Super Bowl I'll get $100. And if they win, I'll get an additional $40. So that's why I'm picking them. And while I'm rather ambivalent about the Steelers and Jets as teams, I can't STAND most of the Steelers fans in this area. If the Steelers get to the Super Bowl or, God forbid win it, then I will have to spend months hearing about how the Steelers are not only THE best professional football team, but also the best amatuer team, and the best team in ANY sport, currently playing, as well as better than ANY sport team who has EVERY played ANY sport ANYwhere in the world at ANY time in history.

God, I hate that.

Anyway, in like 8 hours or so, we'll see how 'on' my picks actually were.

It's been one week since you've looked at me...

So, Polt, what have you been doing all week? I know this is the question you've all been dying to ask me. But since I don't have a question and answer section (hmmm, something to think about, eh?), I'll just go ahead and answer it for you.

Last Sunday, when I was online on a certain gay hookup site social networking site for discriminating men, I struck up an email conversation with a certain guy. We did this for about an hour until we tired of the slow emails, discovered we both had Yahoo, and then moved the conversation to Yahoo Chat. Where, after an hour, we decided to actually talk on the phone. Which we did. For an hour and a half. Not hanging up until 1:30am. Yeah, surprised me too.

AS we arranged, the next evening he stopped by and was here for several hours. The vast majority being spent in my king sized bed. But I'd say the majority of that time was spent talking. Yes, naked, sweaty, post-coital cuddling, granted, but still talking.

And he's called me every night since. We talk for a half hour-45 minutes each night. He's fun. he's funny. We have a good time together (well, the one time we were together, we had a good time). He's employed. With two jobs, actually. He's 26 (and no comments about him being too old for me. Please, people, let's have originality in the insults). He's black. He's got a million dollar smile, which, when I point it out to him, makes him look away shyly. He's about my height, and he's a big guy. He reminds of me of
Anthony Anderson. When I mentioned this to him, he said he gets that alot, the only difference being Anthony Anderson has a gap in his front teeth.

I'm enjoying this. Not looking long term or too far ahead. Just gonna take this one as it comes. If it develops into something more, great. If not, then I've made a new friend, ya know? but I know I enjoy hanging out with him, and want to do it some more. Talking to him on the phone each night is nice, but not enough.

The rest of the week? Anti-climatic when compared to that. Busy at work, but productive, getting caught up on all the shit I got backed up on last week. Took all the Christmas stuff down and packed it away. Still making my way through the 3rd season of Star Trek:Deep Space 9. Still trying to lose weight in the Cocky And Rude weight loss competition...but thank GOD we've got partner's, cause Jere's carrying me through this last week. Without him, I'd probably be getting ready to get voted off. Made steak, baked potatos and corn for mom when she came down. Got a cut-n-color, so the grey's gone and the red's back.

And yeah, that's about it. Now, aren't you glad you asked?
