 SO...

I posted last August about all the people I personally knew who had died since May of last year (when I posted about a bunch of people I personally knew who had died in the year previous).   And that number came up to ten.

Well, since August, more people I personally knew died.

- One of mom's cousins.  When I was a kid, we hang out with them, either at our place or at their place in Greencastle, at least once, usually two weekends a month.
- Phoenix's grandmother
- Johnnie's grandmother
- My uncle's second wife's father
- A former coworker who had had repeated bouts of cancer after he retired
- A new coworker's father
- The second in command at my job when I started there 30 years ago.

So that's put us up to 17 people.  All in roughly 2 years!

I know as you get older, you know more people who die.  And all of the people I just listed were older than me.  And death is not such a surprise for people over 70 or so years each.  But still, to have so many people dropped so close together...

It's disturbing. And unsettling.  And it's not likely to stop as I age.

My birthday song, my happy world (Part 168)....

 Badass Birthday

On this day, 86 years ago in Maryland was born Lil Mary.

That's her with her grand-pupper Kraus.    Who is Lil Mary you ask?  She is my Work Mom.  She was there a few years before I started and worked up until a few years ago when she had to retire for due to medical issues.  But she came to work, day in and day out, until she was 83 years old.  She had nearly identical political leanings as me so we got along great from the start.  Not sure how long she worked there, certainly it was over 30 years.  She worked at a desk in the Records department, so it wasn't a strenuous job, but ANY job you have to 30 freakin years or more is impressive I think.

She and I hung out earlier in the year, I went to her place for a meal and we talked a lot, just like we did when she was working and I'd stop by her office.  And we exchange cards in the mail periodically throughout the year too, those are always nice to get.

But her dedication and working as late in life as she did, certainly has earned her the badass designation!

PS
why is call "LIL" Mary?  Well she stands all of 5 feet tall (maybe) and she may wear 100 pounds, but I wouldn't be totally sure about it.  But what she lacked in stature, she made up for in spunkiness and determination!

Like a top ten song, I had it all.....

As it's now the last day of 2023, it's time for....

My Top Ten List Of 2023!

These was quite a bit that happened that didn't make the list but were important: no measurable snow over the winter; lunch with Canadian Tam in Frederick; supper with Kathy aka Mama who I worked with at Borders 20 years ago and haven't really seen or talked to in 15 years; Chiefs comeback in the Super Bowl to beat the Eagles; some problems with Belle resulting in new tires for her; the new sofa; the issues with getting rid of the old sofa; finally getting the treadmill out of here (to the thrift shop where mom lives where it sold within three days); all the binges of TV shows I saw (Loki, The Kids In The Hall, L.A.Law, Succession, Critter Fixers, Grantchester, Peaky Blinders, all the Untold sport documentaries, an all eight Harry Potter movies too!).

But enough of what did NOT make the list.  How about what DID make the list?

10. COVID scare

Just a little over a week before Christmas, I had a COVID exposure at work.  Was talking to a guy there, had trouble hearing him, leaned in, had my ear about 6, 8, 10 inches from his mouth while he explained what he wanted.  I answered him, and less than an hour later, I found out he had just then tested positive for COVID!  I was convinced I had been infected. (you can see from the above pic, that was not the case).  But after almost 4 years of social distancing, wearing masks (even now some places), vaccines and boosters, I just knew I had it.  And that it would fuck up Christmas, cause if I WAS positive, I'd not go out to mom's Christmas Day.    But again, the test, after 5 days of secluding myself as best I could, came back negative.  Thankfully, it turned out that way!

9. Mom's 80th Birthday

Back in March, mom turned 80!  Eight freaking decades!  She had TWO birthday parties: One, on the day before her birthday thrown by her 'friend' Howard out at the village where she lives.  It was mainly people she knows from out there, although mom did want me, her brother, sister and their spouses there too.   And there was cake and ice cream and someone played the piano and it was fun.  I got to meet some of the people she talks about all the time.   The Second party was the next day, Saturday, March 17th, her actual birthday.  I threw that one, as a surprise.  Howard got her out of the house and again, her brother and sister and their spouses, and all their kids and most of the their grandkids too were there.  It was for lunch, we have pizza, steamers, chips, cake and ice cream.   Lots of balloons and a couple gifts and everything.  She wasn't really surprised, for various reasons, she had figured something was up.  But still a fun time was had by all.

8. Mary's Retirement

There have been a LOT of changes at work (see below), but one deserves it's own entry.  One of the first people I met and who befriended me when I started working there was my Work Mom, Lil Mary (named Lil by me cause she stands only like 5'4 or so).  She been there the whole 28 years I've been there, becoming, as I said, my Work Mom: friend, confidant, rant-receiver, conspirator, a sympathetic ear and a sharer of political beliefs in a place rife with tRump supporters.   Well, this year she was 83, and still in good health (and still working!).  Until, over the summer she had a medical emergency at work and was in the hospital in critical condition for several weeks.  There was no guarantee she would survive.  But she's a tough ole bird, and she did.  And is not living at home.  But she decided that was enough for her and as of December 1st, she retired.   I'm glad for her, she didn't really enjoy working there anymore, but she didn't really want to retire, prior to the medical stuff.   Still, I'm glad she got out.  But damn, I'm gonna miss that ole lady!  It's just not the same without her there.

7. Tooth issues

My teeth are crap.  This is, I'm sure, not news to anyone who's read the Palace before.  And they're not getting any better.  This year, part of my bridge cracked and later fell off.  So we put a temp thing over that part, and the next day THAT temp part fell off!  I had to have a crown put on.  I need to get another tooth pulled, cause I had a crown there, but it fell off and there's really not enough of the tooth left to put another one on.  I'm pretty sure I'll have to get that one pulled sometime this coming year, but it's a molar and my molars are bitches to get out.    I just hate it, my teeth are such crap....

6.  Broken Porch

A portion of my front porch has been deteriorating for a bit and needed work done, but as always, I'm just a procrastinator, and then, in the fall, when it was stepped on, this board cracked.  Luckily I had that lil bench that I could put over that board.  But the cracking made the porch repair a priority.  I was in contact with four different handymen....two never called me back, one never came for two separate appointments, and the last one came and took photos of what needed done, and then...nothing.  even after contacting him later and him saying he'd get something to me....nothing.  So finally I had a guy show up just last Thursday. He seemed a bit more...professional, more like he wanted the job.  he took measurements and stuff and said he get an estimate to me.  It's only been a few days, so I'm still holding out hope I'll hear something.   This made the list because of the difficulty in even finding someone interested in doing the work, and also, there's more work that needs done around herel, so if this guy works out, doesn't good work and isn't crazy expensive, I'll have him look at the other work the needs done in the coming year.

5. My A1C

I FINALLY got my A1C under 7 this year!  It was down to 6.9 in January and then 6.4 in May!  First times it's EVER been under 7, or at least in the ten years or more that I've been keeping track of it.  In December it went back up to 7.1, but neither I, the endocrinologist, nor the dietician were overly concerned about that number, because it's not that much over 7.0 (below that is where we all want it to be), and I know what to do to get it back down.  But still, it was great to have my long term blood sugar where I want, and need, it to be.

4. My Cataract

Last year, I noticed I was having trouble reading, couldn't do so without my glasses, couldn't see tiny print things, driving at night was very  difficult and a bit scary.  Found out the end of last year I had a cataract in my right eye.   Was scheduled to get it removed the end of May.  Had all this testing done, including a MRSA test swab of my nose.  That came back positive.  I called the doctor's office, left a message asking was their something I should in the two weeks before the surgery.  Heard nothing back about it, so I though okay it must not be a big deal.  Then two days before the surgery, I get a call from the doctor's office, they can't do the surgery because I have MRSA in my nose and I have to get that taken care of first.  I...was...LIVID!  But it got the ointment and the spray and used it and finally got the surgery rescheduled to August.  And the MRSA testing then came back negative, so it was a go.  And the surgery itself?  Easy peasy lemon squeezy.  Oh I worried about it and stressed, as I do, but in the end, the whole thing took less than a half hour and I was home (mom drove) with no pain or discomfort. The worst thing was having to wear that damn sleep guard for a week.  But after a few days, when everything cleared up, I can now see as well as before the surgery.  I have a cataract on my left eye too, but it's what they call a 'dirty windshield cataract'.  I can see through it okay.  I'm sure at some point I'll have to have it removed, but for now, I'm good.

3. Retirement Plans

At work, they have this retirement program called the DROP Program.  I joined it August 1st.  Basically, I am technically retired as of that day, and they calculated my pension based upon figures at that time.  However, I have to option of working for up to 5 more years.  And during that period, all the money they would have been paying into my pension goes into a separate fund.  And when I actually retire, be it in 5 years, or 3 or whenever, I get all that money (minus taxes of course).  I knew that was the deal, but in May some shit at work pissed me off so much I was ready to leave right then.  So I contacted human resources and had them run the numbers.  And when I went down and saw those numbers, it was like my jaw hit the floor and my eyeballs bulged out of the sockets.  I couldn't believe just how much money that actually was!  And in the meantime, while I'm working I'll still get my regular salary and any pay increases too (although those increases won't affect my pension, which is locked in).   The bottom line is, August 1st, 2028 will be my last day at work, when I will retire after 32 years (if I stay that long).  And then I'll get my pension monthly, I get that lump sum from that fund, and my excellent county insurance will continue, with me paying only a lil bit more each month, for another 5 years. (they end their insurance at 65 and we have to get private or go on Medicare).  But anyway, yeah, 5 more years, (if I stay that long) and I'm outta there.

2. Mom's Health

Mom turned 80 in March (see above).  Less than a month later, she fell and broke her right hip.  The top pic is her the day after the surgery, giving the thumbs up.   She had the surgery the day after the fall, then she spent a few days in the hospital and then went to a rehab center for a few weeks.  And three weeks to the day after the fall, she was back home.  She still had to use a walker, and then a rolater, and then a cane.  But she was up and moving and soon driving and getting around pretty damn well, if a bit slower.

Then after that, she kept using the cane even once her hip was better because her knees, specifically her left knee, were bothering here.  Basically, it was bone on bone, and very painful.  The end of November, after Thanksgiving, she had that knee replaced.  The second photo is her the night after the knee replacement, sitting up already and giving a thumbs up.  She came home the next day.  And while it did hurt her alot, she doing much better now.  Still walking with the cane when she's outside of the house, just in case.  But she's driving, and walking around, albeit slowly, and in therapy now and getting better.

The one thing I noticed after both of these though, is a word I never associated with mom before: frail.  I mean, she's not in general frail, but she has shown signs of frailty that I've never seen in her.  Granted she IS 80 (see above), but I've never seen her frail before.  And what else this has done was reenforce she's not going to be with me forever.  She probably had years ahead of her...but who knows?

And honestly, that scares the everloving SHIT out of me.  I don't know what I'll ever do without her here.  I try not to dwell on that, cause it'll happen it happens, but its not easy to be confronted by it so head on.

1. Work Changes

Oh my God, the changes.  Personnel wise, three people retired in June, 5 others in October.  One person in each group I was very close to, for years.  And there were good friends in the groups as well.  There are 3 people in my department.  After the June retirements, one of us applied for and got the job of basically 3rd in charge of the building.  So the remaining person and I had to do the work of three people for four months.  Finally in November a new lady started.  And she's smart, and professional and doing great, but still it's a change.  There have been changes with a lot of policies and procedures and personnel.  Parts of my particular job got easier, one two parts have gotten more of a pain.  Thanks to the promoted co-worker, we actually got a lot of, what I think are great, changes.   One of which was moving the three of us, our department, onto a different payscale.  This means, we all got a nice pay increase and we were given our own 'department' uniform to wear every day.  But all of these changes, especially the last half of the year, have been very stressful and really caused a lot of uncertainty.

I mean, the changes are going to have a big influence on my remaining 5 years, in both good and probably, bay ways as well.  And that's why this became the number one thing that happened this year.

I chuckled to myself as their heads metaphorically exploded.

Like a top ten song, I head it all......

So, since it's December 31, 2019, it's time for My Top Ten Things Of 2019!

Firstly, there were a lot of things that happened that didn't make the list, so let's give an honorable mention to computer issues; car issues (battery died) and resolutions (new set of tires); walking 17 out of 30 days in June; dropping my A1C from 8.7 to 7.5; discovering how well Aleve works on muscle pain; getting another crown on a tooth; and meeting a few new hot guys as well as hooking up with a few I haven't seen in a few years.  And now, onto the list.

10. Hagerstown Museum of Fine Arts and The Cultural Trail

Nearby Hagerstown MD has in it's lovely City Park a Museum of Fine Arts.  I went there with my class when I was in school back over 35 years ago, but never since.  And in the last few years, the town opened up a cultural trail, starting downtown and winding through the town to City Park.  So back in June, my buddy Michelle and I walked the Trail to City Park, and went into the Museum.  Considering it's just in the town of Hagerstown, in the middle of nowhere, it was pretty nice.  Both the Museum and the Trail.  We plan on doing it again sometime this year.

9. Theater

My bubby Michelle and I have, for a few years, tried to see on average, one play a month each year.  Last year, we accomplished it.  This year, we did not.  She and I only saw 11 shows together.  But I did manage to see 12, the 12th one I saw with other friends, and Michelle was supposed to go with us, but she was sick.  This year, Michelle and I saw plays in Waynesboro PA, Hagerstown MD, Chambersburg PA, Frederick MD, Charles Town WV, Shippensburg PA, Gettysburg PA and in the Summer Stock theater The Totem Pole.  We even saw some Shakespeare In The Park here in town at Renfrew.  It was a a wide variety of shows and theaters, and an enjoyable time by all.

8. New Plumbing

This year, my toilet stopped working properly.  So I decided to just get a new one. And while I was gonna have the plumber in the house, I'd just let have him replace the faucets in my kitchen and bathroom sink.  I had always wanted ones that curved upwards, so I went and got some.  And they, along with the new toilet, are now in place and working great.

7. Amazing television on ROKU

There was SO MUCH amazing goodness on Netflix, Hulu, Amazon Prime, HBOGo and other channels on my ROKU.  I was quite surprised at all that was available and all I enjoyed.  Things like Russian Doll, Game Of Thrones, Umbrella Academy, The Watchmen, and the Mandalorian.  So much great programming.

6. Avengers Engame

The.  Best.  Comic. Book. Movie. EVAH!

When I watch the clips online of Cap catching Mjolnir and later when Cap says "Avengers......ASSEMBLE!"  I STILL get chills.   It's gonna be tough to top this one.

5. Baking Cookies With Mom

For the last 15 years or so, Mom and I have taken her homemade cookies, fudge and peanut brittle to my work for my co-workers.  We take quite a few packages.  This year, I went out the Sunday before Christmas to get the packages together, and we discovered we didn't have enough chocolate chip cookies or snickerdoodles.  SO she set out to make more batches right there.  And I she had me help her with some.  At the time, I was grumbling in my head thinking, "eh, I don't need to do this, she knows what she's doing."  But after it was all over and we were sitting waiting for the last batch to come out of the over, I thought back over the time we had spent doing it: the laughs, the converstaion, the, honestly, fun.  And I thought to myself, "Ya know, at some point in the future, when she's gone, I'm going to look back on this day, and remember it and smile."  It really WAS one of those memorable moments.

4. Illnesses

Those are  anti-biotices I had to take when I had strep throat this year.  But that wasn't all that I had.  In mid-March I had a pretty nasty stomach bug which resulted in multiple projectile vomiting bouts.  In late March I had an upper respiratory infection which consisted of constant coughing and issues gettting my breath.  In April I had a sinus infection, which resulted in some real bad tooth pain.  Anti-biotics from the dentist ended the sinus infection and with that gone, so did the pressure on my tooth and the pain.  In May I had another sinus infection, that wasn't as bad as the one in April and was resolved without anti-biotics.  In October, I had the strep throat...LOTS of fun that was.  In November, right before Thanksgiving,  I had ANOTHER sinus infection, this one being as bad as the one in April, cause it resulted in another toothache.  And again, anti-biotics from the dentist cleared both out.  And now, since right before Christmas I've had some kinda cold: head stuffy and nose fulla snot, mild cough, and this past weekend, my throat has been on FIRE!  Thankfully, yesterday, the pain subsided, so I think I'm getting over it.  But DAMN, that's been a LOT of illness!

3. New Air Conditioners

When I bought the house 10 years ago, there were three air conditioners the previous people left here.  I've been using them since, a small one in my bedroom, a large one in the dining room for downstairs.  In June, I noticed the one in the bedroom didn't seem to be doing much cooling, so since it was at least 10 years old, I bought a new one.  And then in early-July, the one downstairs didn't seem to be cooling much either, so I went and bought a large one for down there.  And both of them worked GLORIOUSLY throughout the hot summer.  I replaced them just in time.

2. Changes at work

When I started at my current job, there were two other people in my department: Bossy Know-It-All Coworker (who thankfully retired in 2010) and Janis.  She retired the end of June this year.  And to replace her, they hired Todd.  Todd and I are never gonna be best friends, as we have next to nothing in common (he's a Republican, he loves to hunt, he likes camping, he does a lot mechanical work with his own hands, etc).  BUT, as coworkers we, and the guy who replaced BKIAC 10 years ago, all work together like a finely tuned machine.  Todd knows his stuff, and is always ready and eager to help or learn something new.   And that's such a change from Janis (who was a very nice person, but she was incapable of change or thinking outside the box).  FINALLY, after working in this job for 23 years, my department is working well together as a team and not at loggerheads with each other.

1. Falling on the stairs.

See those, last two steps there?  In July, for whatever reason, as I was coming down the stairs in my socks, my feet went out from under me and I landed on the edges of those steps with all my weight. I landed on my upper right back.  I thought I might have cracked a rib or two.  Went to Urgent Care and I didn't, but I did have a serious muscle strain.

The blue and yellow area on the right?  That's the part that I strained.  And oh GOD, the pain was horrible.  Worst I think I have ever felt in my life.  I couldn't go to work for a week.  I could lay down for a week, I had to sleep in a recliner.  When I could finally lat down, I still couldn't lay in my bed (it was too firm) for two week after that.  I had to sleep on the sofa.   Getting up and sitting down felt like someone was stabbing me in my back.  Once I was sitting, I was fine.  Standing was fine...but as I walked sometimes, I just turn slightly and feel the stabbing pains.  Coughing and sneezing were right out of the picture.  And I never know how many of your back muscles are involved in taking a dump!  Pooping was painful too.  It was truly one of the most painfully episodes I have experience in my life.  And it took me over a month until I could get everything back to normal.  So now I'm very careful going down the stairs, and I plan on putting some carpeting or something on them to prevent it from happening again.

SO...

My last ten days or so....

Last Saturday, I worked, as usual.  Then right after that, I went out to mom's.  We packed up and went to the old folks home out there.  They have a room there that mom reserved and that's where we had our family Christmas.  Delicious food.  Lots of Family.  Lots of fun.  Gifts exchanged.  Laughs had.  A great time.

Following this, I came home, dropped off my gifts, and then headed out again, to Michelle's house.  She had her annual Christmas Party/Birthday Party For Her Stepson.  Was there for about a hour and a half.    Had some food, did some talking, ended up only having a shot of bourbon, nothing else.

Sunday morning went to moms and then together we went to Chambersburg to get some last minute shopping done and eat lunch.  Afterwards, came home and watched football all day.  Got a surprise text from a fuck buddy I haven't been with since like April.  He came over and we played for a bit, both of us enjoying the bedtimesexxyfun.  Then after he left, I watched Dallas beat the Raiders....and just barely do so.

Monday, I got up and took my car out to get the oil changed.  Mom came and picked me up and then we took the cookies, peanut brittle, fudge, and garlic pretzels she had made and we had packed up, over to my place of employment (as we do every year), and gave them to my coworkers to enjoy.  Then we did a bit more non-Christmas shopping in Hagerstown.

Tuesday, I took my gifts for some of my coworkers (six of them actually) in and handed them out.  I also got a few gifts back.  It was also the Christmas Party at work, so we had a pretty good lunch.

Wednesday, after work, I met up with the ParisPekings at the movie theater, and we all saw Star Wars: The Last Jedi.  My review?  I enjoyed it, although I'm not raving about it.  It dragged horribly for the middle third of the film, but at the end there were several things I did not see coming, nor expect, and I enjoy surprises like that.  And the film was visually astounding in!  Just beautiful.  But I'm not raving about it, due to some other problems.  Still, I'd give it a A-/B+.

Thursday after work, Ghostie came over and we played the election game.  That night, I won a VERY close game, 272-266 electoral votes!

Friday, work was work.  But afterwards, I went and ordered the pizza for work the next day and also went to a used book store to look for a last minute gift for mom. I didn't even have the idea until Thursday night.   I went over lunch to a nearby used bookstore, and they didnt have it.  But there was the second one near the pizza place, so I went in and they HAD IT!  Got that and a few books for myself (of course).

Today, work was light.  I wore my Christmas tie.  Every year, I buy myself a Christmas tie and wear it to work the Saturday before Christmas, then it goes in the closet with my other Christmas ties never to be seen again. I think I have about 13 of them or so. (although this year, I wore and old one to the family Christmas, so I may start doing that....who knows?)  Also, at lunch, the pizzas were delivered for all my co-workers to enjoy.  The big, big, BIG boss let us go two hours early since it's the holiday weekend, so I came home at 2pm.  Ended up taking an hour nap, which was gloriious.  And now I'm watching football the rest of the night.

Tomorrow, mom and I are going out for lunch, like we usually do.  I then plan on spending the day watching football.  Although Derick is supposed to come over, we'll exchange gifts and he's supposed to spend the night too.  That'll be sweet.

Monday is of course Christmas.  I'll be going out to mom's to exchange gifts and have her home cooked Christmas meal.  Then spend the rest of the day doing nothing.

Tuesday and Wednesday I have off work too, and then back to work Thursday.

Been a busy, but not hectic, last week or so.

Someone book me a room (Part 357)...

Chapter 12, Page 22....
(updated...I forgot two important things from this day)

Tuesday, I got up and to work with little problem.  My one coworker is off until after the fist of the year.  The other coworker in my department and I are only working together one day each week.  Otherwise, we're both working alone.  Tuesday is the day we're together.  So while he took care of the new clients, I got done the weekly paperwork that needed to be completed.  And I did get it all done.  For lunch, my coworker Frigga and I went back to Panera.  It was great to get out of the building for a short while, and of course, Panera has better food than anything they have at work.

After work, I stopped and got a few things on the way home that I needed from a few different stores.  Then, when I got home, I hung out here doing basically nothing at all.  I read some, watched some TV, was on the computer.  The usual.

I got a text from one of my fuckbuddies, and even though I wasn't really feeling like playing around, it had been a while since he'd been here, so I told him to come on over.  And then some pretty good bedtimesexxyfun commenced.  And once he left, I went back to doing the 'basically nothing at all' i mentioned above.

After a bit, about 9PM, I decided it was time for bed.  So I went up to bed, read a little bit and then went to sleep.

Someone book me a room (Part 356)...

Chapter 12, Page 21...

Monday, I got up about 830, showered, dressed and headed out for my appointment.  I had my quarterly checkup with my doctor.  Everything went fine, it took like only a half hour.  I found out my A1C was down to 7.6 (check out the chart below).  Great news there!

Afterwards, mom came and picked me up.  We had the cookies, fudge, peanut brittle, and homemade garlic pretzels in the car, and we went over to work, where they were having the annual Christmas Party.  We put her stuff on the dessert table, and then ate lunch there.  With my coworkers.  What fun that was.  We were there for about 45 minutes, and then left.

We went to the mall, mom got some things she needed.  Then we went to the local used bookstore, where we both looked for something, but didn't find anything we wanted.  We went to the grocery store, where I got a few things, and then we came back here.  I unloaded the car, and mom went on home.  I spent the remainder of the day laying around the house, in my lay-around-the-house jammies.  I watched TV, was on the computer, read my book and waited for the Monday Night Football pregame to start.  I watched that and some of the game, and then went up to bed and to sleep.

Someone book me a room (Part 330)...

Chapter 11, Page 25...

Welcome to my 48th Birthday!  Today, I got to work on time, but that was only because I had stuff to do. Was having a weekly meeting at noon and there was still info and paperwork I needed to gather together for the meeting.  But that all went well and easy. And the meeting itself went quite well as well.

Several people wished me a happy birthday throughout the day, even a few clients did so after they overheard someone else saying it.  And at the meeting, the big boss slid a card across the table to me.  He gets cards for all the employees birthdays, but usually he mails them.  He said this time he forgot to, so he just gave it to me in person.  Is it a big deal?  No not really, but it IS quite a morale boost, just to know he takes the time to do this.  Especially considering the previous idiot we had for a big boss.

Anyway, after work, I stopped by Hallmark to get some cards i needed, and then came home before heading out to moms.  Two of my cousins, one who lives in Hershey PA and one who lives outside Baltimore, were home for the holiday and mom was hosting them at her cottage, making slippery beef pot pie for supper.  I went for the food, the conversation, the fun, and to see lil Morgan, who's now like 14 months old, just learning to walk and terribly fun and funny.  I was out there until about 7:00-ish.

I came home and parked myself.on the couch, where I putzed around online while watching more of Jessica Jones.  And after catching several episodes of that, I turned everything off and went to bed, read some and then to sleep.

Someone book me a room (Part 226 & 227)...

Chapter 8, Page 13...

Wednesday night, I hurt my shoulder (the one with the rotator cuff issue) and couldn't get to sleep, cause of the throbbing pain.  So about 2am I took a sleeping pill.  Then, when the alarm went off at 7, ther was no way I could get up and moving.  But I had paperwork I had to get done, so I called in and said I'd be in at noon, and then went back to sleep....but not on my sore shoulder.

I got to work at noon, and got the paperwork finished that I needed, as well as a few other things.  After work, I got my monthly Cut-N-Color.  When I got done with that, I started home, stopping to get some cards I needed and some supper.  Then I came home, ate, was on the computer, watched some stuff on TV and then went to bed to read an to sleep.

Chapter 8, Page 14...

I got awake Friday after 6 and knew I wasn't going back to sleep, so I just got up and went in to work.  I got there right at 7.  I sent an email out that since I got there then, I'd just leave at 3pm.  Course, I didn't remember that I was going to leave at 3pm until 348 pm. *SIGH*  So I just left then.

At work, I got done the stuff I needed to get done, and a little more since my one coworker has off Friday and the other one left at 11am.  But it was okay, it wasn't insanely busy or anything.  After work, I came home, changed my clothes and walked to mom's.  We loaded up her car yet again, and took the stuff out to her cottage, where we unloaded it.  And she put some stuff out of the boxes where she wanted them.

After a bit of this, when she was done, we decided to go get something to eat for supper.  And of COURSE we could NOT decide.  Eventually we settled on Bonanza at the Chambersburg Mall.  After a delicious buffet meal, I came home.  It was only like 800, but I was exhausted.  So about 830, I took my pills and shot, went to bed, read some and then went to sleep.

I said do you speak-a my language, he just smiled and gave me a Vegemite sandwich....

So, in the late morning today, a co-worker slumped into my office, plopped down in my chair and said, "Sometimes I envy you."  I said, "Really?"  And he said, "Yeah, you gay guys dont have to deal with women's shit."

He was having some issues with his wife and their communication and stuff. But I said, "yeah, I know."  and told him what it reminded me of.

Johnnie one time said, "You gay guys have it so easy!  As a straight guy, I have to first talk to a girl, make conversation, ask her out, go to dinner and a movie, pretend to be interested in her, and then after two or three more dates, MAYBE I'll get some nookie.  But you, you don't even know their names, and you're having sex with them."

I nodded and added, "They don't even need to speak English."  Which is true in one case, cause one time in Toronto, the guy I was playing with was moaning and mumbling things in French.  That doesn't mean he did NOT speak English as well.  It just means for the 15 or so minutes we were together, I never heard him speak it.

My co-worker just kinda looked at me after telling him all that, a few moments passed, and then he just pressed on with his marriage issues.

Someone book me a room (Part 219)...

Chapter 8, Page 6...

I got to work a bit late on Thursday, just wasn't feeling getting up.  I had an outside agency coming in to speak to a few clients, they do this about once a month or so.  I always get a little stressed about this, but this month, everything went quite well.  For lunch, then, I went out to eat with my co-worker, Frigga.  She and I decided to go get something at Panera Bread.  I got the You Pick Two...a chicken Cesaer salad and ham and Swiss sandwich (again).  She got a sandwich and some tomato soup.  And we talked and had a great meal, and good times.

I came back to work and waded through the stuff that needed to get done.  And then the workday was over.  At work, I got a message from Derick, and so after work, I went to his place straight away, for some bedtimesexxyfun.  Afterwards I stopped by Taco Bell and got some take out for supper.  After coming home and eating it, I putzed around online for a bit.  Then mom called and said she had some stuff she wanted to bring down to my basement, for storage.  So I got a dolley, a wheelbarrow, hedge clippers, some kind of ladder/scaffolding that you can use on stairs, and a 14 foot tree limb clipper.  Who knows when I might need them?

She and I chatted, and after we did so, and she left, I watched some tv and was online again.  After a bit, I went to bed, read some, and then to sleep.
