BITS-N_PIECES

So this week....yeah, this week kinda sucked.  All week, I've had sinus issues.  And not just the pressure and headache, oh no, but the draining of the gunk, which gave me a sore throat, and, since it's draining into
my stomach, an upset stomach as well.  And it's NOT like that all the time, oh no.  Some days it's just the headache, with no draining, other days it's all three at once.  This week, out of 40 hours to be spent at work, I was off 18 of them.  I thought it might be a sinus infection, but it doesn't FEEL like a sinus infection (and I've had plenty of them to know), and also, it's not the same thing constant.  Like today, just a slight headache...but then my nose has been running most of the day.  Hopefully this is the end of it, though.
*************************
Since I bought the house, the toilet as...leaked?  No, that's not it, but the water is always dribbling from the tank into the bowl.  And over time, it's gotten worse.  And since I've been here 4 years now, there's permanent, brown water stains on the back of the bowl.  So while I could just have the toilet fixed, I decided I want to go get a new one.  One with an unstained bowl, and a better bowl, one I like better than I one I have now.

So mom and I went to Lowes, and I found a toilet I wanted.  I took all the info down about it.  Then, since mom already had the plumber coming over to her place for some stuff, she brought him down to check out my toilet.  He measured and said he knew the toilet I was going to get and it was a good one and would fit.  So once I got the toilet, I just needed to let him know, and he'd come by and put it in.

Last Monday, Mom and I went to Lowes and I pulled the toilet off the shelf and put it on the cart.  Then I saw her put her purse on top of the box and start to root around in it.  I asked her what she was doing.  She said getting her credit card out.  And when I asked why, she stopped, looked up at me and said, "Didn't I tell you I was buying this for you for Christmas?"  I shook my head and she added, "Well I've told everyone  else!"  I asked who and she listed off her neighbors, some family members, the ladies she plays cards with, the lady she delivers Meals On Wheels with.  I told her she didn't have to do that, that I intended on getting it.  But she TOLD me she was getting it for me.  And as we pushed the cart to the register, I laughing asked, "Well are you gonna pay to get it put in too?"  And she said she was.  I tried to tell her no, I was at least going to pay for that....but seriously, when she gets something in her head....well, that's all there is to it.

So right how, I have a toilet, in the box, sitting in my dining room, just waiting for the plumber to get here.  All compliments of mom, for Christmas.

I watched the Spartacus prequel and am halfway through the second season.  I'm still pretty meh about it all.  Perhaps it's because I'm watching them all back to back, like watching four hours or more of it at a time.  But really, there's entirely too much blood and boobs.  Way too many are simply gratuitous.  If I were watching them a week apart maybe I wouldn't think so, but that's not what's happening.  Still, I *AM*going to watch all of what remains of the second season and all of the third also.  Even though there's not anywhere NEAR enough male full frontals, there IS still a LOT of eye candy.
**************************
This week, while not feeling well sitting on the couch, I watched the entire first season of Downton Abbey.  LOVED it.  Wished I had the rest of the seasons here to watch right now.  Had to order season two, that should be here soon.  I love nearly everything about it.  I love, just as is usual, simply everything that comes out of Maggie Smith's mouth.

"No Englishmen would dream of dying in someone else's house."

"Things are different in America."
"I know.  They live in wigwams."

"What is a weekend?"

"I take that as a compliment."
"I must have said it wrong."

Oh my God, LOVE her!
************************
DC Angel (remember him?) and I have been texting, attempting to get together again for another hookup, but with this week's sinus troubles...well it hasn't happened.  Hopefully soon.  Despite our problems a few years ago, he's really just pretty amazing in bed.
************************
The weather has been crazy.  Tuesday through Thursday, it was like late July: temps in the 90s and humid like a sauna.  Come Friday, its cooler, less humid, breezy, just awesome.  Temps were only a high of 75.  In the span of two days, it went from having to have the a/c on all the time here at home to needing to wear some Totes Toasties on my feet to keep them warm.  But I LOVE this weather the most of any.  Autumn, my favorite time of year.
***********************
Grandma was in the hospital again last week, probably because of the weather.  She was having trouble breathing, her asthma was acting up again.  Badly.  But after two days in there, and few changes in meds, she's back home and doing...well, as well as an 89 year old lady with congestive heart failure who's had open heart surgery and a cancerous tumor removed from her colon can be.
***********************
And of course, the Obligatory Bits-N-Pieces Eye Candy!

"Bah humbug", no that's too strong, cause it's my favorite holiday.....

So, today is the Third Anniversary of the Puntabupoolparty of 2010.  (you can read my posts about it HERE).  Three years....wow.  It doesn't seem that long ago.

So what, to my own limited knowledge, have the people there done since then?  Let's find out.

Craiggers got a house and a cat of his own.
Craiggers' sister Amanda married her girlfriend in Cancun.
Craiggers' parents (Patricia and Sonny) now have the house ALL to themselves.
Tam has become the Canadian Norma Rae.
Tam's Kidlette, Kristen, graduated school and is preparing to start college in, I think Vancouver.
They both have traveled extensively through the US and Canada.
Michelle & Harry now have a entire FLOCK of birds living with them.
Justin has Alan.
Nathan graduated college and is soon on his way to Japan!
FDot has been to the ocean several times, to Colorado at least once, and I think, although I may be mistaken, was in California for a trip as well.
VUBOQ changed his job and moved through several more letters of the alphabet.
Chris D. got even more involved in all his activities and kinda disappeared from the blogsphere.
Paul has changed jobs, visited me twice at my house and been to DC Pride twice.
Enrico graduated college and now has a job with a view from his office of the Empire State Building.
Josh and David P. split up.  Josh now has a new man and they are currently traveling along the West Coast.  David P. got anther job and is still involved heavily in the theater.
Mikey met and married Ty.
Adam met and got engaged to Mr. Sombrero.
Jere graduated law school and is now working on all kinds of civil rights activities.

And me?  .....eh, not so much.  I still have the same house, the same job (with a view of a metal door in a concrete block hallway), I am not married, engaged or even dating, I have not traveled anywhere...Toronto probably forgets what I look like.  So BAH!

Oh Bossy Know-It-All Coworker did retire, so work has improved 1000% fold...but thats not something I DID....just something that happened to me.

And since then, yes, I DID meet Kris, but I dont really know what we ever WERE, much less what we are now (if anything) and what we'll be in the future.  And yeah, there was Angel for a few weeks, and Sean for a month or two in the summer of 2011.  And there is Louis, who I like a lot, but with him in DC and me here, really...what's gonna happen there.

So....yeah, like I said....BAH.  I mean I'm glad for everyone else!  But it just seems like I've been stagnant.  I'm not really unhappy, honestly, but I'm a bit...underwhelmed at my last three years when comparing it to everyone else.

Ah well....to summarize: everyone else has had an exciting amazing time since the Puntabupoolparty (to varying degrees) and me, no not really.  But I'm still happy with my life.  More or less.

Still....BAH.

In January, I met Brandon online.  We talked a bit, then hooked up.  It was fun.  I thought there might be more.  Over the next two weeks or so, while we talked everyday, I came to the conclusion I didn't want anything more serious from him, and told him so.  Heard nothing from him, until two Fridays ago, when out of the blue, he emails me again.  Ends up, he comes up and we hook up again.  Totally unexpected.

In February, I meet Angel, and after a week of extreme passion, and red flags hanging from every possible pole, I end with him.  And not in a pleasant manner.  Hear nothing from him.  The same Friday, after Brandon leaves, I get an email from Angel and we talk online for a bit. The next evening, he comes over and we hook up.  And it's REALLY good.  May be more hookups in the future, but no talk of long term anything.  But it was totally random and out of the blue.

2007, Freddie and i break up after a few years of dating.  Over the next three years, I have one online conversation and recieve one drunken call from him.  Then earlier this year, out of the blue, he calls me.  And we talk.  And it's fine.  And we've talked like 6 or so times since then.

Last night, he calls me to say he's on his way from Atlanta (when he had a temporary job) back home to around Albany, and that he'll be in the DC area over the weekend.  Did I want to come down and have a lunch or dinner with him and catch up?  Sure, why not?

But it went from lunch on Sunday, to dinner on Saturday, and then maybe going out to a club afterwards, and then maybe getting a hotel so we wouldnt have to travel after drinking, and then maybe getting a hotel in the suburbs, so Freddie wouldnt have to drive in DC, to getting a hotel somewhere inbetween where he'll be and here.  And it ended up that he was coming up here to my house Saturday afternoon, we'll get something to eat, hang out, catch up and then go to the local gay bar, The Lodge. And then he'll crach here and leave Sunday morning for Philly, the next stop on his rambling, slow, take-in-the-scenery trip home.

(Freddie seems to think the Lodge will be filled with people with only half the teeth in their head, and banjo music and that there will be grasping genitalia on the dance floor and will need me as a bodyguard.  Silly boy.  I told him only one of those things are true.)

Does all this seem somewhat bizarre to anyone else?  Three time,s out of the blue, past hookups/boyfriends have called and we've gotten together again.  Do other people see their ex-for-3.5 years and catch up and let them stay overnight?

Yeah, I'm not at all sure why I even ask.  Of course it's just me.  It's not the situation that's bizarre, it's me.

Memories, like the corners of my mind.....

They say smell is sense most connected to memory (or something like that) and I think that's true.  But I also think it's true that music can be connected to memory.

Like anytime I hear "Chasing Cars" by Snow Patrol, I think of Freddie. Not that it was 'our song', we never had an 'our song'.  But there was one time Freddie and I were laying bed, post-coitally, listening to the radio and that song came on.  And he said to me, after the one chorus, "If I lay here, if I just lay here, would you lie with me and just forget the world?"  Said it, not sung it.  I called him a cornball, and we both laughed.

And anytime I hear "I'm Yours" by Jason Mraz, I automatically think of Kris.  He sang that to me one evening here at my house.  I recorded it and posted it here, and on YouTube.  And even thinking about it now, makes me smile.

And even Angel, who I was only with for like ten days (although a passionate and drama filled ten day those were), there's a song.  We were driving somewhere, holding hands and "Jar Of Hearts" by Christina Perri came on, and Angel started singing it.  Not TO me, just out loud.  And it was the first time I had heard it.  So now, when it's on the radio, I thin of Angel.

And then there's Sean.  Well, I dont have a song that reminds me of him.  We never really listened to much music.  We did watch a lot of TV, went to a few movies, but no, no song.  Although he DID give me asparagus, so there is that.

So do any of you have songs that remind of boyfriends/girlfriends/lovers past?

My week so far.

Tuesday after work, over the phone, Angel and I had....a discussion. I'll not go into detail, cause the details don't matter, but basically, I'd begun questioning several things and on Tuesdays, I put all my cards on the table and confronted him with it. After some yelling (my part) and some crying (his part), I told him I'd need a few days to think about things and get back with him. And then I spent most of the night feeling like a heel, and a big jerk. Although I wasn't backtracking on anything I said.

Wednesday was an entirely crappy day from the moment I woke up, it was bad. It did get better as the day wore on, but it consisted of getting up late, terribly idiotic drivers in traffic, co-workers pissing me off, having a slight headache, knocking the thing that holds my paperclips and pens and highlighters all over the office floor, spilling coffee on my hand and just generally having a totally shit filled day.

Thursday, i woke up with, and spend most the day with, a migraine. Yippee. I did feel better later in the afternoon, early in the evening. I called Angel and told him, basically, we were gonna have to go back to square one, which was just dating. He just said like, "okay". Not that he seemed pissed, just like he kinda expected it. I actually think this will be the end of us, that I really won't see him again, unless it's by accident. Which is kinda sad on one hand, but okay on the other.

Today, well, today was actually the best of the bunch, despite being The Longest Work Day EVER. And having no motivation to do anything...which probably contributed to it being a long day. After work, I finally got out and took a walk, albeit a short one. And ended up at mom's, which was fun. And then we went to Montezuma's to eat. Which was fun and tasty.

All through this week, and even some of last week, I think I've been fighting off something. One day, I had a pretty scratchy throat. Another I had a snot filled head. Another, a chest cough. Another a sinusy type of headache. And all throughout, I've felt fatigued and tired. So I think something, maybe this flu that's been going around, has been trying to get a foothold on me, and I've been fighting it off. Thankfully, I've not had any full blown stuff, but it's still just icky-blah.

I think I'm gonna try to take the weekend, so little to nothing and just rest. Course, that's what I did LAST weekend, and I'm still this way now. Ah, well whatever, at least The King's Speech got the best movie Oscar, so all's right with the world, eh?

Just another manic Monday....

So Angel stayed last night again. And just like Thursday night, we didnt make it all the way through a movie...not that I'm complaining or anything. I apparently misunderstood, he's not an ex-stripper, cause sometimes he still dances down where he works. He seemed concerned about how I'd feel, and I told him, honestly, it doesn't bother me. As long as he's not going home with anyone he gives a lap dance to. And frankly, it's kind of a turn on, to think that I'm getting to sleep with someone that other people pay to look at naked. And I've BEEN one of those people several times (at Remingtons in Toronto), and I gotta say, it's better being where I am now. And plus, I can totally confirm that professional lap dances given in one's living room are much more desirable to those given in clubs. Seriously.

Anyway, this morning, after some bedtimesexxyfun, we kept talking about getting up and getting some breakfast, making plans to do so at 9:30. But, by 11:00, while we were showered, we still weren't really out of bed yet.

And then A Local Celebrity, Mr. David ParisPeking called. And since he had the day off, he wanted to 'get into some trouble'. So Angel and I met him at Buffalo Wild Wings for lunch, and then we walked around the Mall a bit before taking in a matinee of "The Green Hornet".

The movie was okay, for what it was. I mean, it acutally was kinda stupid, but once I got past the fact that this was just supposed to be mindless fluff, I enjoyed myself more. ALCMDPP gave it a C+. I'd give it a B- only because I did chuckle several times, the cars were, if totally implausible, at least pretty freakin' cool, and a cute Asian that's easy on the eyes will ALWAYS add a few points in my rating.

Angel will be going back to DC Wednesday afternoon, and it's entirely possible he'll be spending the night tomorrow night as well, with me dropping him off on the way to work, weather permitting.

And speaking of the weather, Friday the temps were in the 70's. Right now, it's snowing outsite, with projections of 5-9 inches by sunrise. What the HELL? I hate this time of year.

Be my angel in the night...

I missed posting anything yesterday, and for that, I'm sorry. But I had a VERY good reason:

See?

This is Angel. He and I met online last week. We made plans to meet up yesterday after work. And we did. But what was planned as a short....slap and tickle ended up with him staying the night. It wasn't what either of us expected, but I'm damn sure each of us was pleased with the outcome.

I really this guy. I dont know what it is, but almost immediately, I could tell this was gonna be more than just a quick fuck. I mean, we were holding hands in the car before ten minutes had passed. Holding...Hands!

A few details? Okay. He's going to be 22 on Sunday, he's Latino. He's 6 foot, 200 lbs. He took ballet when he was young and currently has the thighs of a ballet dancer as well as being able to stand on his TOES...when he has someone to lean on for support....like while kissing...in the shower.... He grew up around here, but has lived the last 4 months in DC. He works as a bartender down there, but previously, worked as a stripper (and yes, he has the body and especially ass to prove it). He's cuddly, affectionate, and sweet in addition to begin drop-dead sexy. And he feels the same way about me that I do about him.

I dont know why I feel the way I do, nor how any of this is gonna pan out what with the age difference, and him living in DC, but right now I'm rolling with it. And will be this Sunday night when he spends the night again.
