With every breath i take i will give thanks...

So I hope everyone is out there celebrating this great momentous holiday with their families! After all, everyone SHOULD want to celebrate my 43rd birthday, right??????

And while you're at it, feel free to cook up some bird and have a bunch of side dishes and share the day with your family, if you feel like it. Whatever.

Be you a pride-ful Pilgrim...

Or a slutty, skantily clad Indian....

Enjoy the buffet laid out on the table before you....

Good luck with the wishbone....

And everyone have yourselves a Happy Thanksgiving! (even those silly Canadians aomngst us who have their Thanksgiving a month early!)

A sniper at a birthday party...

Yesterday, when i got off work, I had a message on my cell from A Local Celebrity, Mr. David Parispeking's wife. She was asking me what I was doing last night. I called and told them nothing, so they invited me over to thier place to celebrate my 40th birthday.

I got there. Both of the little ParisPekings were up and playing. And man, were they funny. We had pizza, and afterwards, we had, in the words of Abby ParisPeking, "some BURSS-day cake". ALCMDPP slaved for hours over this cake...or so he said. I knew it was more like slaving seconds in front of the cake counter at Martins grocery store.

The candles were hand selected for me, because as ALCMDPP said, they were rainbowish and not quite straight, just like me. Abby and I blew the candles out, and then we ate the cake.

Katie, just a bit over a year, had a clump of cake just put on her high-chair. She proceeded to eat it, but I think she got MORE of the cake on her face. And her hair. And her clothes. And the floor. And probably some on the dog, as well. (I unfortunately being 40 now and old, forgot to take my camera with me. Susan took some photos, one of which was of Katie all messed up with my cake. I was kinda hoping she'd send me that one too, but only sent me these.)

After the cake, it was bubblebath time for Abby. I helped clean Katie off a bit, while ALCMDPP was cleaning the table, and Susan was watching Abby in the tub. But before long, both girls were squeaky clean and in their jammies. And soon after that, they were in bed. The remainder of us watched "Knocked Up", a funny film, but kinda long and not at all as funny as i heard it was supposed to be. but it was enjoyable.

And after this, I left. But I had a fun evening. And I'm glad they invited me over because I didn't really want to be alone the night after i broke up with my boyfriend and the night before I turned 40. It was great to have something to do with someone.

I suppose, when you're gonna turn 40, you find out, through invitations, or a thoughtful email, or funny card, or pleasant phone call, who your real friends are.

These are people who died, died....

Maybe I should look at turning 40 a different way. We can say that I've lived:

  • 25 years longer than Anne Frank
  • 22 years longer than King Tut
  • 21 years longer than Joan of Arc
  • 20 years longer than Billy The Kid
  • 18 years longer than Buddy Holly & Pocahontas.
  • 17 years longer than River Phoenix
  • 16 years longer than James Dean, Notorious B.I.G., and Lee Harvey Oswald.
  • 15 years longer than Tupac Shakur.
  • 14 years longer than Otis Redding, gay pornstar Joey Stephano and Sharon Tate.
  • 13 years longer than John Wilkes Booth, Kurt Cobain, Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin, Jim Morrison, and the Elephant Man.
  • 12 years longer than Caligula.
  • 10 years longer than Patsy Cline and Andy Gibb.
  • 9 years longer than Rudolph Valentino.
  • 8 years longer than Alexander The Great, Karen Carpenter, and Bruce Lee.
  • 7 years longer than John Belushi, Eva Braun, Chris Farley, and Eva Peron.
  • 6 years longer than Jesse James.
  • 5 years longer than Andy Kaufman, Jonathan Larson, and Mozart.
  • 4 years longer than George Armstrong Custer, Bob Marley, Marilyn Monrow and Princess Diana.
  • 3 years longer than Marie Antoinette and Van Gogh.
  • 2 years longer than John F. Kennedy, JR.
  • 1 year longer than Amelia Earhart, Che Guevara, Stonewall Jackson, Martin Luthor King JR, Anna Nicole Smith, and Malcolm X.

So, I'm not doing too bad. Unfortunately, all these people gained thier fame well before they died, and thusly, when they were much younger than me. *SIGH* Guess I'm destined for obscurity. And old age.

It's all the same to share the pain with me...

Yes, Yes I am now 40. The BIG Four -Oh. Four Zero. Yep, that's me.

I'm not really having a problem with it. I'm having a bigger problem with having to say, think and realize I'm now 40 than I am acutally BEING 40. It's strange.

I just need to think of what good company I am in:

MUSIC
Harry Connick Jr
Billy Corgan, of the Smashing Pumpkins
Noel Gallagher, guitarist of Oasis
Macy Gray
Faith Hill
Dave Matthews
Dave Navarro, guitarist for Jane's Addiction
Gunnar and Matthew Nelson, long-haired blonde twins singers

Politics
Patrick Joseph Kennedy, Congressman from Rhode Island
Gavin Newsom - Mayor of San Francisco

Comic Books
Brian Michael Bendis, a writer
Rob Liefield, an artist

Sports
Boris Becker, tennis
Ty Detmer, football
Deion Sanders, football

Movies
Vin Diesel
Will Ferrell
Jamie Foxx
Philip Seymour Hoffman
Nicole Kidman
Carrie-Anne Moss
Julia Roberts
Mira Sorvino

Television
Criss Angel
Lisa Bonet, Cosby kid
Jeff Corwin, Animal Planet
Jimmy Kimmel
Matt LaBlanc
Julianna Margolies

Journalism
Campbell Brown, Today show host
Anderson Cooper

And.....others
Pamela Anderson
John Wayne Bobbitt
Amy Carter, daughter of Jimmy and Rosalyn
Moon Unit Zappa

There, see I'm not so alone.

The final countdown begun, three, two, one...

I just sat here and watched that purple countdown thingee at the top count down from 5 minutes, 26 seconds to zero.

It was like watching the countdown to Armageddon. Or the countdown on New Years Eve. Either way, I'd regert the things not done.

I won't actually offically be 40 until 1:59 pm this afternoon. So, technically, I've still got a bit under 14 hours left in my 30's....

It's only an 8 hour drive to Toronto...............
