Still at it, till death us do part (Part 28)...

Dead Of Alive?

Remember, no cheating, no looking this up anywhere, just give me your best guess.

This one comes from A Local Celebrity, Mr. David ParisPeking.

We all know Diana Ross is still alive, but about the other two original Supremes?

Mary Wilson was born in 1944.  She was with the group until they disbanded in 1977.  She has been an author, concert organizer, and musical activist.  She was inducted into the Rock N Roll Hall of fame in 1998.

Florence Ballard was born in 1943.  She was kicked out of the group in 1967 and was replaced by Cindy Birdsong. Following that, she sued Motown and took up with the ABC label and had a rather unsuccessful solo career.

So tell me, Mary Wilson and Florence Ballard, two of the original Supremes, are they...Dead Or Alive (or is one dead and the other alive) ?

Dead Of Alive Results!

Man do you guys disappoint me!  Only three guesses by all of you on how many JLA members have never died.  Sheesh.  Anyway, all three of you guesses wrong, but I give you credit for at least guessing!  And since you guys were the only three brave enough to even venture a guess, I'm gonna not give you three an extra incorrect point, and I WILL give you half a correct point!  So congrats Tam, Michelle M., and Amie.

Now, actually, the correct answer is 1.  Only Batman was never dead (although he was thought to have been killed by Darkseid when in fact he had just been sent into the past).  Superman was killed by Doomsday in Superman  (vol 2) #75 in 1992.  Wonder Woman died in Wonder Woman (Vol 2) when Neron killed her in 1997.  Green Lantern (Hal Jordon) became the villain Parallax and was killed by an arrow through the heart from his fellow hero Green Arrow in The Final Night in 1996.  The Flash (Barry Allen) died in Crisis On Infinite Earths #8 savings the Universe from the Anti-Montior in 1985.  Aquaman was killed in Aquaman: Sword Of Atlanis #50 in 2007.  And the Martian Manhunter is killed by Libra in Final Crisis #1 in 2008.

Tonight I'm driving home from work, and I think, "I should go see what Christmas cards Wal-Mart has on sale for me to used next year." (And as a tangent here, may I say, their selection sucked big, smelly, sweaty, donkey balls.  They had practically nothing, and absolutely nothing I was interested in.  So later I went to the local Hallmark store, and they had a lot of good cards.  Took me a while to actually pick the ones I wanted. So yeah, go Hallmark, boo Wal-Mart!)

Anyway, while thinking this I also thought I might get something to eat at KFC since it's out by Wal-Mart.  And then I thought, eh, maybe I'll give mom a call and see if she wants anything.  But when I called the house, no one answered.  So I continued on my way to Wal-Mart.

I got into Wal-Mart and made my way towards the "Holiday Clearance" section, which just previously this week was known as the Christmas Corner...or some such thing.  And while I was approaching it, I saw this woman pushing a cart a head of me. She was facing away from me, but limping a little and I thought, "Wow, she limps like mom."  And then, "Hey, her hair looks like mom." Followed by "I don't recognize that coat, but that sure does look like mom!"  And lo and behold it WAS her!

We laughed when I got her attention, and she asked what I was doing here.  And when I told about the cards, and trying to call her about KFC, she stopped walking and looked at me and said, "You won't believe this!  On the way out here I was thinking I should call you and see if you want wanted an KFC since I'm here."

And I DID believe that.  This kinda crap happens all the time with us!  It's crazy, how I'm thinking something at the same time she is!  And that's pretty scary...for her I suppose.  But it happens all the time.

Questions unasked, can damage the most.....

Last week was the last customer I had for 10 Questions.  I plan on getting another round of 10 Questions going again sometime next year, once I get 100 new questions written up.

So, from you guys, I need two things.

1) Let me know if you're interested in participating in 10 Questions Round 2 (whenever it's ready).  First come, first asked.
2) If any of you have any questions you'd like me to add to the 10 Questions list, email it to me at poltguy@yahoo.com or Facebook.  Just remember, the criteria for questions is: Is this a question I can ask to Mama Polt and not be embarrassed to do so and not have her get embarrassed/angry/upset at the question.  If you have a question that meets that criteria and want to have it asked to random individuals (and even perhaps yourself), then email it to me.  (I reserve the right to deny any question submitted for any reason whatsoever and without explanation to the sender)

Thanks to everyone who played along in the first round and I hope to hear from you all for the second round too!

Christmas, the snow's coming down, Christmas....

Yesterday, Christmas Eve, I got up a bit early (for me), like 8am.  I putzed around a bit, then showered, threw a load of clothes into the washer, started an anti-viral check, and took a walk.  I mailed a couple things, then got a few groceries, for later in the evening.

About 2pm, it started snowing.  Not much at first, but got wetter, slicker, uglier.  Even  though we only got about two inches total, it still didn't look at that great outside.  About 6 o'clock, though, I went out and cleaned the car off and started on my way to get Kris from his work.  I drove slowly, due to the weather, and didn't have any problems, but it wasn't all that great with the driving.

I had to wait a bit at his work because, even though they were closed, not all the customers had let yet.  Although finally, he came out and we were on our way.  It had stopped snowing and it wasn't as bad going home as getting there, but I still went slower than usual.

So we got home here.  We kicked our shoes off, took out coats off, I kissed him hello...and is phone rang.  It was his roommate.  He had just gotten to their apartment and realized he did not have his key, but Kris did.  SOOO, after much apologizing from Kris, we headed back out and I drove him back past his work, to his apartment, where his roommate was waiting outside.  Then we returned here, finally to stay the night (well except for when we were outside as soon as we got back so I could shovel the sidewalk off).  It was about 8:45.

I had bought steaks and a bag of vegetables to be steamed when I was grocery shopping earlier in the day.  So threw those on the George Foreman (the steaks) and into the microwave (the veggies).  Then, Kris opened the gifts I got him (a graphic novel he off-handedly mentioned he wanted, socks [cause I heard say he told his Secret Santa at work just to get him socks], and new undies too).

At his work, while running back from my car to the restaurant, Kris took a spill in the snow.  After opening the gifts, while hugging him, I felt his side was still damp.  So he had to get out of the wet clothes (no problem for either of us, actually).  And since can wear my clothes, he just put on a Superman t-shirt and the Justice League pajama pants of mine.

We ate the delicious supper.  We flipped around through the TV stations and could find nothing worth watching.  I was amazed that he had never seen nor even HEARD of "It's A Wonderful Life"!  We watched a few of my older Palace Christmas videos on Youtube and then some other videos.  And then Kris said, "Hey.  Let's go to bed."  So we did.

We laid in bed, cuddling, talking, laughing, having a pretty damn good time.  Right at 12:01, I wished him a Merry Christmas.  And then started some pretty heavy foreplay. which led to some extended bedtimesexxyfun and a toe-curling, body-shuddering, feel-it-in-my-eyelashes orgasm.  Yeah, it was THAT good.  And then finally, about 2AM, we turned out the light, settled in spooning, and went to sleep.

Today, Christmas morning, we woke up and had more bedtimesexxyfun.  Then we got ready and I took him back to the apartment.  I then went to get grandmas, and took her to mom's for Christmas lunch.  Mom's neighbor lady came down as well, since we newly widowed and couldn't drive to her son's place out of town, either.

After eating, mom and I opened our gifts.  Angel got her gifts as well.  And she played with them.  And I played with her and her toys.  Eventually, I came home.  Started another anti-viral and settled in to watch a documentary about Monty Python.  And by settled in, I mean fell asleep into an hour and a half or more nap.

Upon waking, I putzed around online for a bit.  Then made supper of a leftover turkey sandwich.  And after that, I read some, for probably 45 minutes or so.  Then I watched a rerun of "Angels Take Manhattan" and got ready to watch the Doctor Who Christmas Special.  With a mug of hot tea with honey.  Nice.

And naturally, I've got some pics:

The Christmas Eve meal, with Kris.

Angel playing with her toys.  From me, she got a big bag of dog treats and the sock monkey stuffed squeak toy over in the right of the photo.  Kris had a third roommate who had a puppy, and they had gotten the puppy a sock full of toys.  However, the roommate and the puppy moved out.  So Kris gave the sock to me to give to Angel.  What she is chewing on here is a stuffed, fluffy squirrel with a squeak toy inside.  Angel carried this one around all day, to the exclusion of all the other toys.  She loved it.

This was the Christmas table set up at Mom's.  Delicious food!

After all the playing, Angel was tired and sat on his pillow while the rest of us talked.  She was all worn out.

I trust that your Christmas Eve and Day was the best you've EVER had!

Okay, I've held off on this for quite some time.  And if you know me in person, more than likely, you've already heard me say this.  Here's what I have to say about the Sandy Hook Massacre.

I am upset and disturbed by it.  but I am not shocked.  No one should be shocked.  We all should have expected this.  It was only a matter of time.

We as a society have decided that we want nearly ANY member of it to purchase nearly ANY firearm in nearly ANY amount they want to.  The price we pay for this glut, this flood of firearms is innocent blood being shed.  Grandmothers at a Sihk temple in Wisconsin.  Fathers at a political event in Arizona.  Mothers at a shopping mall in Oregon.  And yes, children at a school in Connecticut.

And this will continue to happen, over and over and over again, until we decide, as a society that we do NOT want nearly unfettered access to firearms. Until we decide we, as a society, want to have sensible gun control, these things will continue to happen.  And more men, women and yes, innocent children will be murdered.

And until we decide to do something about it, all that blood is on ALL our hands.
