Should auld acquaintance be forgot, 2016 edition....

2016 is over, and thank GOD!  what a horrid year.  But it's time for me to reflect over last year on a personal basis and reveal...

Polt's Top Ten List Of Important Events In 2016 (or something like that).

First of all there were a whole lot of things that happened that did NOT make the list.  Things like my new iPhone, seeing George Takei speak, another visit by my buddy Lewis and both of us going to my own hometown's first ever comicon, Downton Abbey ended and Captain America: Civil War was the Best Comic Book Movie EVAH, cutting down the tree in the backyard, the two Murder Mysteries I attended, binge watching all seasons of Game Of Thrones and falling in love with it, Blizzard Jonas in January, and then the God awful heat in July and August, my anxiety came back again, but it wasn't paralyzing like before and was only for a short period of the year, and of course, the visit to the Cabin Of Ill Repute!  While all of these impacted my life in 2016, I only had room for ten things on the list.  So here we go.

10. Refinancing My Mortgage

After paying on the original mortgage for 7 years, I still had 23 years left at 5% interest.  But after a very smooth refinancing procedure, I now have a 20 year mortgage, at 3.75 % interest, and my monthly payment is $50 less than what it was.  I still plan on paying the old amount, or even a bit more, each month cause that means I'll get it paid off sooner.  But this will have a hopefully beneficial effect on my finances in the future.

9. My Grandmother Died

My mother's mother died in January.  She was my last surviving grandparent.  She and I were never terribly close.  My mother visited her at the home several times a week.  I saw her, really, only a couple times a year. We just never were very close.  I still loved her, and she me, and so I'm sad to see her pass.  But she was 91 years old, had had a long, prosperous, productive life, and she was in poor health and wasn't going to be getting any better, so in the end, it ceased her suffering.  Goodbye grandma.

8. Bradford Beefeaters Trip

Back in early August, A Local Celebrity, Mr. David ParisPeking and I (after I MADE him agree to go), drove 5 hours to Bradford PA to eat at Beefeaters and have another Best Steak Of My Life.  We spent the night, had breakfast at the European Pastry Shop (again, delicious) and then returned home another 5 hours.  Not only did I have an AMAZING steak, and breakfast, and lots of fun with ALCMDPP, but it made me decide that every year, I'm making an overnight trip to do this, I'll just take someone different each year.  Should be a fun little overnight trip.

7. Belle

In March, mom bought a new car, she gave me her old one (BELLE!) and I gave her Sebastian to use as a trade in.  Belle's a sweet car. And she's already been to Toronto, Bradford, and DC!  Great car, even though she's a 2010.  I hope I have her for several years!

6. Health Issues

Had several health issues this year.  Back in April someone I dated several years ago was hospitalized with ocular syphilis. Even though I had not been with him in 4 years or more, getting syphilis in your eye can be a symptom of tertiary syphilis, meaning a long term infection.  So I got tested just in case and it came back negative.  THEN, over the summer, one of my current fuckbuddies texted me and said, "I've tested positive for syphilis, get tested!"  SIGH  So I did...again!  This one worried me because we had been together within the last month. But that one came back negative too.  PHEW!

Then in August I got this rash under my right armpit.  It was sore and hurt and eventually covered almost my entire armpit.  I went to the doctor and it was a yeast infection!  In my ARMPIT????  WTF?  Well they gave me some creme and I did as the doctor said and it went away, and hasn't come back.  Although, apparently, being diabetic makes one susceptible to yeast infection.  Goodie.

Then, about two years ago, my left shoulder, the muscles inside started aching a bit.  Back in April it got SO bad the pain did NOT go away, all night.  I tried ice, and pain killers and it was just an unending blast of pain.  And I was leaving like the next day for Toronto!  I got to the doctor's that morning, got a shot of something, got some pain killers and anti-inflammatories, and that helped a lot and made the pain get tolerable.  But after that I asked the doctor for the MRI.  I tried to get one in August, couldn't do it, too close.  Finally got one at a wider barrel MRI machine in November, and then in December went and lined up physical therapy to start in January.  The shoulder has tendonitis and a sprain or strain.  Still hurts, but hopefully, the physical therapy helps.

5.  Air Conditioning Malfunction At Work

Back in July and August, when they weather got all hot and humid, the A/C in my part of work decided to break.  So there was no relief from the heat.  I have NO windows in my office, and my office opens out into a hallway where there are no windows.  And the heat and humidity rose and rose.  When I entered my office several days at 8AM, the temperature was ALREADY at 85 degrees!  And it only got worse as the day went on. I already had a fan, but I bought another another one,   And even with two fans blowing directly on me, I could still just BARELY function.  Oh, I could complain with no problems, and I could sweat without difficulty.  But dear GOD, that's like inhuman.  They did get it fixed, after like four or five weeks, which is way sooner than I thought.  But the unit is the original one, when they built the building in 1986.  The unit is 30 years old!  It's time to change it. But I doubt they will (welcome to government procurement).  And I fear the issue will occur this summer as well.

4. Orlando

This tragedy struck me like none since 9'/11.  Fifty people slaughtered, just because they wanted to dance and have a fun night out....oh and because our country does not believe in sensible gun control....but I digress.  This shocked me to my core.  It made me feel...unsafe.  I was so shaken by this, two days later, on Monday, I needed some unconditional love and fun and happiness.  So I went to the ParisPeking household and hung out there with three pre-pubescent kids and two dogs for a few hours.  And who better to give unconditional love and fun and happiness than kids and dogs.  They helped immensely.  But still, ever since then, I just dont feel as....safe and secure in general as I did before.

3. DC Capitol Gay Pride Parade

Immediately prior to the Orlando shooting (the parade was in the afternoon, the shooting was the evening), the Pride Parade seems, in retrospect, to have been like a last 'fling' of fun and happiness.  At any rate, I went there with some of the normal friends and met some of the usual friends there.  Also, Travis From Long Island came to DC for Pride and he hung out with us.  And Diego from NYC came down as well and I got to meet him in person for the first time.  (Unfortunately, Diego and I have since parted ways, and I'm honestly not sure why....but I digress....).  The parade was fun as usual, the friends were fun as always, and a good time was had by all.  In the above photo, there is Travis From Long Island, Diego, me, and Derick.

2. Toronto

This April, I FINALLY got back to Toronto!  The last time I was there was in 2009!  WAY too long.  Lots of things had changed, but many things were still the same.  And being there with Michelle was amazing!  She's SUCH a great traveling companion.  We ate at new restaurants, saw two plays (including one with full frontal nudity!), and I experienced, in my 16 trips there over nearly 20 years, my first real Toronto snow!  I dont think I'll be getting back anytime soon (I have a mortgage ya know, even if it's been refinanced this year), but I really hope my next time there is NOT seven more years away!

1. Hillary Losing

Yes, that's the way I have to say it, as I can not yet acknowledge the 'winner' as such.  And yes, I am disappointed she lost, just as I was disappointed when Kerry lost, when Gore lost and hell, when Dukakis lost.  And just as I would be disappointed if she had lost to Bush, or Rubio or Kasich.  But losing the Electoral College to the Orange Cheeto (especially when she got almost 3 million votes MORE than him), is more than just a disappointment.  Having a narcissist, thin skinned, Russian puppet in the Oval Office is a threat to everything this country is.  With him there and Paul Ryan as Speaker, they can privatize Social Security, guy Medicare, slash or do away with minimum wages and unions, and yank the healthcare from 12 million Americans.  All the while...
-He'll put someone in as Secretary of State who has zero diplomatic experience, but who happens to be great and long time friends with Putin.
-He'll put someone in as Treasury Secretary, who is to regulate and keep an eye on Wall Street, someone who is a billionaire CEO FROM Wall Street.
-He'll put someone in as Labor Secretary who doesn't even believe there should BE a minimum wage. -He'll put someone in as Energy Secretary who said when he was running for President in 2012 that the Energy Department should be abolished.
-He'll put someone in a as Education Secretary who never attended public schools and believe public monies should go to vouchers for rich people to help defer the cost of private and parochial schools and just starve the public schools of funds.
-He'll put someone in charge of the Environmental Protection Agency who doesn't believe in climate change and global warming and, further, doesn't believe there should be ANY environmental protections.
-He'll put someone in as Secretary of Housing and Urban Development who has no experience in either housing or urban issues, but instead who's background is in neurosurgery....but then he IS Black, and you know the cities are where all those Blacks live, so.....
-And worst of all, he'll put people on the Supreme Court who will uphold all his uConstitutional measures and decisions and throw this country back to what is was during the Gilded Age more then a hundred years ago, when robber barons ruled and did what they wanted and the common man worked ten hour days, six days a week with no paid days off or sick leave or a livable wage.

If this country resembles in four years anything like it is now, it will be a miracle.  This, this my friends, and so much more, is why I am fearful, and scared, and expecting nothing good until we come out from under this new upcoming Dark Age.

Batten down the hatches and buckle up, its going to be a very unsafe, unsure and wild ride.

Monday, April 25, 2016

Okay, so the end of the Toronto trip.

Let's see, I left off with Sunday night.  Monday morning, we got up, showered, and went to the Second Cup again for breakfast.  Then, with our coffee/hot chocolate (and umbrella) in hand, we headed out and up Yonge Street.

It was spitting rain a bit, it had in fact, rained earlier in the day.  Rained enough so that the snow from the night before was all gone.  It didn't really rain all that much throughout the day, but it was overcast and damp.

So we walked to Bloor Street and then west until we got to The Royal Ontario Museum.  I had been there once before years ago, Michelle had never been there.  We ended up wandering around through there for like three to four hours.  We saw a ton of dinosaur skeletons.  We saw relics from Byzantium, Ancient Greece and Rome, Ancient Egypt.  We saw exhibits from Canadian history.  We saw a whole section of dioramas from European history, starting with the Medieval Period all the way up through the Victorian era.  We saw an exhibit on Art Deco designs and furniture.  We saw a four story tall totem pole.    It was frankly an amazing museum, and I think there was more to see, but after several hours, we were just tired.

So we walked back to the hotel, a different way than the way we went.  She stopped at the Wine Rack and got some more wine.  We went back to the hotel and hung out there until we decided to get some food.  Every trip I had taken to Toronto I had walked past The Hair Of The Dog.  I had thought it was just a bar at the Southern edge of the Gay Ghetto, but Michelle was looking online and saw it was actually a pub/restaurant.  So we decided to go there.

They actually had some great food.  I had some great fish and chips, I forget what kinda vegetarian stuff Michelle had.but she enjoyed it as well.  And after a full and filling meal, we returned to the hotel.

All trip, we had been debating if we wanted to stay an extra night or not.  We had done so the last time she and I went, and this trip, we had the room through Monday night into Tuesday, but we were trying to decide if we wanted to stay Tuesday night and leave Wednesday.  Well, we finally decided we did want to do that, stay an extra night.  So after we returned, I went to the front desk and asked if we could stay an extra night.  But they said they were entirely booked up Tuesday and Wednesday nights both.  I guess with several floors of the hotel out of commission due to remodeling, it shouldn't be surprising they were sold out.  Still, it was a bit disappointing.

So weren't in the room for a long time before I decided it was time for me to go out and whore myself around.  I mean, it WAS my last night there, and I hadn't really done this at all yet (not counting the one time with Fizul on Saturday afternoon).  So about 8:00, I headed out.

NOTE: Things get rather specific and graphic after this, so if you're not interested in this aspect of my trip, feel free to scroll down a bit.

I went to the one video arcade that had several different theaters and booths in it.  I was there until I think 11:30.  To summarize all that happened, I'll just say I had a great time in multiple encounters.

First, almost as soon as I got there, I got with a cute black guy with a paralyzed left hand. I got him off orally, but told him not to cum in my mouth, and he didnt.  We were in a booth, he was laying on the couch in there as the movie played and I blew him.  And when the time came, he yanked himself out of my mouth, rolled over and shot all the way across the booth, like a yard of more.  Nice.  Oh to be in my late 20s-early 30s and be able to shoot that far.

I left the booth while he cleaned up and got himself together.  I went into one of the theaters showing a gay porno on continual loop.  It wasn't too long until an Asian guy in a red sweater sat next to me and wanted to suck me.  So I let him.  He wanted me to suck him too, but I wasn't really into him that way, so I told him no. And after sucking me a bit, he stopped and left.  Which was fine with me.

Later, there was another Asian guy who kept rubbing my crotch and telling me he wanted to blow me.  I wasn't really into him, but he wore me down, so we got a booth together.  He did suck me, but I wasn't feeling it at all.  But he was into jacking himself, so I helped him cum, and then we both left the booth.

Later still, I was sitting in the gay porn theater again. Directly in front of me sat a cute-ish lil Asian guy.  Behind me and a seat over sat a guy that looked kinda like a friend of mine, Paul.  I had my dick out jacking it and the lil Asian guy in front saw it, so he reached over and started jacking me.  "Paul" stood up behind me and was jacking himself, so I reached over my shoulder and jacked him for me.  And there we were, for a lil bit doing just all that stuff.

I tried to get cute lil Asian guy into a booth, but he didn't seem interested, which was fortunate, because another guy, Native American/Italian mix looking guy, who was MUCH more attractive, caught my eye and I managed to get him into a booth with me.  I blew him until he too shot, but on the floor, and not across the booth like the black guy.  He cleaned himself up and left,  There was still a porno playing in the booth, so I stayed to watch it, but left the booth door open.  Soon, there was this cute twinkie boy standing in the doorway.  I nodded my head for him to come in and he did.

He was college aged, had a head shaved on the sides and a topknot on top, and was lean.  He took off his coat, hung it up, then pulled his pants and underwear down and got on his knees to blow me.  he was REALLY good, but I wanted to see what he had, so I sat up and said I wanted to see his and reached down to grab it.

Dear GOD, it was MASSIVE!  I mean thicker than your average banana, at least 8 inches long AND uncut!  I told him is was massive and jacked it a bit and he giggled shyly.  I told him I was going to take of that for him when he was done with me.  He just smiled, giggled, shrugged and went back to work.  After I finished, he stood up and started to pull up his pants, and I asked, "Dont you want to get off?"  He shook his head, "I'm good" he said.  I got myself together, and told him, "Thank you." And he smiled and said, "Thank you...SIR."  hmmm.  I asked for a hug, which he agreed to.  And as we hugged I squeezed his ass, and that was amazing too.  He just giggle and then left the booth.

*SIGH*

NOTE: Graphic part over.  Continue reading from here.

I returned to the hotel, Michelle was still up.  We hung out and watched TV and talked and stuff until finally going to sleep.

Tuesday morning, we got up, had some breakfact in the room (bagels and stuff), packed everything up and then, saying goodbye to the hotel room, went down and checked out.  They pulled Belle out of the heated indoor garage they had her in, we packed her up, and off we went.

It's always sad leaving Toronto, but this time, we had music playing and kept each other cheered up.  We stopped at the designated rest stop along the QEW (about exit 75 as I recall) and had a quick lunch.  Then, when we got to the border, we did a little shopping at the Duty Free.  I wanted to get rid of as much of my coins as I could, so I bought a cap, a magnet and some pens for a few coworkers, and that took all my coins except for a 10 cent coin.

After this, it was crossing the border (where a cute American customs agent engaged us in a conversation, where, at the end of, he informed us that we needed to sign our passports!  We had both forgotten to do so, but after talking with us, he let us in anyway.), drove through Buffalo, and back to Bradford (without a snowstorm obscuring the drive).

We checked into the hotel, rested a bit and then went back to Beefeaters and had another completely delicious meal!  We returned to the room, I was on my laptop, Michelle went to the jacuzzi for a hote bit.  Then we watched some tv and went to sleep.

Wednesday morning, we checked out and went to the European Pastry shop for breakfast, and then drove home, making it to Waynesboro by 4pm.

And then, the Toronto Trip was over.  Boo hoo.

Surprisingly, that night, I got everything unpacked, put away or in the laundry for washing the next day.  And I spent the night resting and recuperating.

I've got books lining my shelves, day and night...

Okay, so what happened on the Toronto trip anyway?

Michelle and I left here about 11:30.  But prior to this, I managed to get a doctor's appointment at 8:30am.  My left shoulder has been killing me since the Friday before (see THIS POST for more details), and I wanted to talk to him about giving me something to help me sleep at night.  He looked at my shoulder, and me move my arms in different way, felt the shoulder, etc.  He said it doesn't look like it's a tear of the rotater cuff, but he said I might have a strain, or I might have pinched something.  At any rate, he gave me a shot of toradol, which is a muscle relaxant and a pain killer as well.  And then he gave me a prescription for toradol, a 5 day regimen.  And he gave me Vicodin to help me sleep.  After getting them filled, I came home and waited on Michelle.  When she got here, we packed up Belle and off we went.

We got to Bradford PA 5 hours later, checked into the hotel, rested a bit and then walked (in the rain) to Beefeaters for supper.  Had the same meal I ALWAYS get there: 14 oz Prime Rib.  Oh my GOD, it was so good, it's was almost orgasmic.  And afterwards, I got some of the New York cheesecake with strawberries.  Delish!

We came back to the room, she went to the hot tub and the pool, I got a shower.  We both got done at the same time, because she said the chlorine was hurting her head.  So then we hung out in the room until it was time to go to sleep.

I slept well, my shoulder barely even bothered me, although I'm sure the toradol and the Vicodin had something to do with that.  Michelle got up first and got into the shower.  I got up and while waiting for the shower, opened the curtains, and saw....snow.  Seriously, snow!

Nonetheless, we got ready, packed up, went to John William's European Pastry Shop or breakfast!  Delish as always.  After filling Belle up with gas, off we went north.  And the further we went, the worse the snow got.  I was quite nervous about it, and didn't think i could drive through Buffalo and on the interstates in Canada in that kind of weather.  Michelle said we could get a hotel room here and continue on tomorrow.  But I didn't want to do that.

We went to the Wal-Mart in Springville because that's where we usually stop to use the bathroom.  We did, got some snackie stuff and some drinks and came back out to the car.  It was no longer snowing.  So we continued on, and luckily, it didn't start snowing again.  In fact, once we reached Buffalo, the roads were dry, it had never even snowed.

And further, once we crossed the Peace Bridge into Canada, the clouds parted and we had blue skies all the way into Toronto.

We got there with no problems (other than a slight traffic jam), gave our car to the valet, grabbed out luggage and checked in.  We were in room 1215.  The elevators took forever because, there are 15 floors in the hotel, and floors 5-9 were under renovation.  So the construction workers were using the elevators too.  It's like every elevator stopped at every floor.  took forever.

We got into the room and it was amazing. I already mentioned the beds and pillows.  The bathroom was very nice as well.  And our view, looking north, showed the all new 5 skyscrapers they were erecting!  Crazy!

We grabbed the money we wanted to convert to Canadian and walked several blocks south to a money exchanging place.  Then we walked back up Yonge, across Weselley and then down Church (ie, the gay ghetto) checking out the scene.  We went back to the hotel room, and hung out and relaxed for a bit.  Then we decided to get supper.

There's an Elephant and Castle restaurant down the street, but it was closed for renovations.  Michelle found online there was another one on King street, so we walked all the way down there.  The place was packed, maybe because it's kind of a sports bar, and it was the Blue Jays home opener.  And plus, the restaurant wasn't that far from the site of the game.  At any rate, it was packed, but we didnt have to wait long for a table and the food was of course, delicious as always!

After the meal, we walked back to the hotel a different way to see more stuff.  We hung out there for a bit, before I decided to go check out the sex shops and see if they were still the same.  I found the one on Church St: Love Shop.  And yeah, it was the same: sleazy video booths in the back.  I didn't stay long.

Then i walked to the Yonge street store.  There were slight differences there, but I got the hang of it pretty easily.  I didn't spend much time there either, planning on coming back later in the trip.  I left there and returned to the hotel room.  Michelle and I hung out watching TV, being online, and then we turned out the light and went to sleep.

And that was the first two days.  More forthcoming!

Time to teach, point to point, point observation.....

Today, some observations from the Toronto trip.

- There are many, many, MANY more tall buildings there than when I was last there.  It used to be all the skyscrapers were down around the lake front of a few streets inland around the financial district.  But now, they're all over the city  Or so it seems.  From our room, looking north, there were 5 skyscrapers in clear view, all under construction.  And they're VERY tall.  We were on the 12 floor of the hotel, there buildings were at least double in height, and a few times, even higher than that.  It's crazy.  I mean it's good that the economy's booming enough for all this, but damn, it's like they're having a race to the sky.

- Male fashion in Toronto was mainly top knots and short tight pants with no socks.  The top knots were on hipsters, college students, businessmen, retail workers, pretty much everyone.  Or everyone of a younger age, say, 30 or so.  And while the whole idea sounds pretty stupid, I gotta tell ya, in practice, on these guys, it was actually kinda hot.  The short jeans/no socks thing I'd seen before, when I was in college, in the late 80s or so.  That was nothing new.  What WAS new was how they were wearing them in Toronto, when the temps were below freezing!  How they didn't have icicles on their ankles, I don't know.  Anyway, here's some pics of what I'm talking about.

And

There were like 11 or 12 guys with topknots we saw over the extended weekend, and countless numbers of no socks guys.  Some guys with both.

- The weather was cold, damp, rainy, snowy and windy.  One other time I was there, it rained pretty much the entire time.  But other than that, the weather has always been great.  This time...eh, not so much.  And that kinda put a damper on the entire weekend.

- Unlike every other time (and in fact, rarely here at home), I never tore the sheets out of the bottom of my bed.  Every morning, it looked like a normal person slept there and not something that made a nest in the middle of the bed.  Also, I actually used the closet!  I had my coats hung up there, I had the suitcase on the little folding stand they provide in there, and I put my worn clothes on the floor in there instead of just alongside the bed.  Being this neat and organized is not like me at all.  But on the other hand, it did not prevent me from losing the room key at least twice and searching in a panic looking for it.

- Toronto used to be a crime-free haven, as far as I knew.  However, this weekend we heard the following: a burned body was discovered in a fire pit in a park; there was a shooting where a teenager died; there was a stabbing and the victim was in hospital in serious condition; and, most disturbing of all, right there on Yonge street was a white trash couple screaming at each other, and then she ran at him and started slapping him about the head and shoulders.  It's very unfortunate.

- I dont usually buy clothes in regular stores.  But when we were up there, we were going to see Judas Kiss, which is a serious drama.  All I had to wear was jeans.  So while we were out and about on Saturday afternoon, we went to The Bay (founded 1670), and I found a pair of khakis that I liked and that fit, so I bought them.  First pair of pants I ever bought while on vacation, while at The Bay, and while in a foreign country.

- I WAY overpacked.  I came home with 5 shirts I didn't wear, 5 pairs of underwear I didn't use, 3 pairs of colored socks and 2 pairs of white socks.  Still, I only managed to take one suitcase, one backpack and one duffel bag for the computer.  But I overpacked nonetheless.

- I also took too much money.  I took $500 American.  When we got there, I converted $300 American into about $367 Canadian.  And I ended up coming home with $110 Canadian.  I didn't bother to convert it, cause I'd lose money in the conversion.  And I thought the next time I'd go up, I'd have that much money already converted and wouldn't have to worry about it.  Still, that seems like it's a crazy amount to bring home.  And it's somewhat surprising that I didn't spend more, cause I don't recall using the credit/debit cards that much.

- Hookup apps are crazy busy in downtown Toronto!  I got up there and logged on to a few of the apps I have, and after that, it was crazy!  I got messages day and night.  Not 24 hours a day, all day, but throughout the day.  It's crazy.  There were about three guys I chatted with trying to set up a hookup, but they all ended up falling through.  We were in room 1215, and one night I got a message from a guy that was 7 feet away!  Michelle said he could be in the next room, and I said he could be in OUR room!  Turns out he was in room 1217!  But I was in for the night, and in bed and comfy and he wasn't that attractive, so I turned him down.  But still....seven feet away!  And in some apps, I never had a contact on there further than a mile away.  Not once.  Here at home, there's like 4 within a mile, and most of the guys are 8, 10, 12 miles away or more.  Ah well, such is life in big cities.

- The beds were amazing!  In Bradford PA, we had instead o two regular pillows, four pillows half the size of the normal.  And in Toronto, the hotel gave us FOUR regular sized pillows and one half sized pillow!  Nice.  And in Toronto the bed was like sinking into a cloud.  It was SO soft and comfortable!  Never have slept in a bed this comfortable before!

More about the trip and photos as well forthcoming!

Don't quote me boy, cause I ain't said shit....

So I got back home today from a nearly week long vacation to, from and in Toronto.  They'll be more posts upcoming about all this, but first, allow me to give you a few quotes.
