Cupid's dead.....

If this is your first visit to The Palace, you may not know this, but....

I DETEST VALENTINE'S DAY!
It's a forced holiday, once devised and promoted by the card companies, candy companies and florists.  If I love someone, I'll tell them when I want to, not when corporations tell me to.  When I was dating Freddie, I told him NOT to give me a card, flowers or candy for the holiday, as I HATE it.  He did send flowers, but they were all purple and in a purple vase.  And the card read, "These aren't for Valentine's Day, they're just cause I love you. And they're purple!"  (or something similiar, I dont remember the exact words)  Anyway, that, I was fine with.

But how do I feel about VD?  Here:

Because of my feelings on this issues, we'll dispose of Frenching Fridays this week....I dont want to be miscontrued as perhaps supporting it.

It was nice having off Saturday.  That's the first Saturday, since Feb 1997, that I had off and just used leave.  I didn't have to switch with anyone, I didn't have to come in on Sunday to work, nope nothing like that.  I used my leave and was simply off.  Since the new person was hired a few months ago, and he's working Sunday-Thursday, I don't need to switch or work Sundays when I want off a Saturday.  Yay, go me.

My friends wedding was quite nice, the reception really fun.  Twenty years ago, I was Best Man in his first wedding, but now I was just a guest to his smaller second wedding.  The bride looked beautiful and had lost so much weight since I last saw her in February (like over 100 lbs) that I didn't recognize her.  The reception was a blast, talking with members of his family I haven't really spoken to in years.  Also, they had bottles of wine there for the toast...and afterwards.  I had a little too much of it, to be honest.  Felt a slightly bit tipsy.

When I got home, Freddie was waiting out front in his car.  It was slightly awkward in the beginning, but as we talked, it got better, easier, more comfortable.  We walked to Waynesburger for supper.  When we got back, we decided neither of us felt like going to The Lodge, so we didn't.  We settled in and watched some stuff on TV.  Freddie got a shower and broke out the alcohol he had with him and got a bit drunk.  But he was funny and it was a fun time.

When we turned in, he went to the spare bedroom, I went to mine.  But about 7 am, I was jarred awake by him climbing into bed with me.  And we cuddled and talked and slept and laughed and had fun time for about three hours.  But no sex.  I think we both wanted it, but we both didn't want it, if you understand what I mean.

He left late morning, and I spent the day watching football.  And then for today, well, see the post below.

In January, I met Brandon online.  We talked a bit, then hooked up.  It was fun.  I thought there might be more.  Over the next two weeks or so, while we talked everyday, I came to the conclusion I didn't want anything more serious from him, and told him so.  Heard nothing from him, until two Fridays ago, when out of the blue, he emails me again.  Ends up, he comes up and we hook up again.  Totally unexpected.

In February, I meet Angel, and after a week of extreme passion, and red flags hanging from every possible pole, I end with him.  And not in a pleasant manner.  Hear nothing from him.  The same Friday, after Brandon leaves, I get an email from Angel and we talk online for a bit. The next evening, he comes over and we hook up.  And it's REALLY good.  May be more hookups in the future, but no talk of long term anything.  But it was totally random and out of the blue.

2007, Freddie and i break up after a few years of dating.  Over the next three years, I have one online conversation and recieve one drunken call from him.  Then earlier this year, out of the blue, he calls me.  And we talk.  And it's fine.  And we've talked like 6 or so times since then.

Last night, he calls me to say he's on his way from Atlanta (when he had a temporary job) back home to around Albany, and that he'll be in the DC area over the weekend.  Did I want to come down and have a lunch or dinner with him and catch up?  Sure, why not?

But it went from lunch on Sunday, to dinner on Saturday, and then maybe going out to a club afterwards, and then maybe getting a hotel so we wouldnt have to travel after drinking, and then maybe getting a hotel in the suburbs, so Freddie wouldnt have to drive in DC, to getting a hotel somewhere inbetween where he'll be and here.  And it ended up that he was coming up here to my house Saturday afternoon, we'll get something to eat, hang out, catch up and then go to the local gay bar, The Lodge. And then he'll crach here and leave Sunday morning for Philly, the next stop on his rambling, slow, take-in-the-scenery trip home.

(Freddie seems to think the Lodge will be filled with people with only half the teeth in their head, and banjo music and that there will be grasping genitalia on the dance floor and will need me as a bodyguard.  Silly boy.  I told him only one of those things are true.)

Does all this seem somewhat bizarre to anyone else?  Three time,s out of the blue, past hookups/boyfriends have called and we've gotten together again.  Do other people see their ex-for-3.5 years and catch up and let them stay overnight?

Yeah, I'm not at all sure why I even ask.  Of course it's just me.  It's not the situation that's bizarre, it's me.

Bits-N-Pieces

So today, it got much much better as the day went on.  As I had two cups of mixed berry green tea, shut the door to my office, did paperwork and bascially was a recluse until after lunch, my patience grew longer and I grew more tolerant and by the end of the day, everything was just hunky-dorey.
**************************
Freddie and I spoke last night for like 45 minutes again.  Everything was relaxed and it wasn't awkward, but it was weird.  I feel strange talking to him again since we've been broken up since 2007.  But when we've talked recently on those few occasions, everything seemed like it was before.  Strange.  Really strange.
**************************
Wednesday, I was sitting here in the living room with the doors and windows open cause it had finally cooled down enough there was a nice breeze blowing through, when i heard a lamb.  Or a goat.  And I heard it more than once, over and over in a regular rhythm.  But I figured I was nuts, cause there's no way there a lamb or goat near my house.  And later I heard the neighbor's daughter practicing her tuba, and even though a tuba doesn't sound anything like a lamb or a goat, I just convinced myself that that was it.

Then yesterday, when I got home, I saw on the neighbor's front porch, a large red cage.  And in it was a big blue parrot.  I found out his name was Milo, and it was he who was making the lamb/goat noise.  And he did it last night, and he's done it tonight as well.  Its not really irritating, it's not terribly loud, but it is funny.  I chuckle when I hear it.
***************************
I finished the 4th Harry Potter book last night.  Was up until after midnight finishing it.  So today I was thinking, "What am I gonna read now?"  See, I dont like to read book series' back to back.  I've done that before, get all wrapped up in a series, read them one after the other, and about the 4th or 5th book, get bored with it all, put it down and not finish it.  And I didn't want to do that with Harry Potter.  I mean I did read the frst two back to back, but then I spent two days reading a Doctor Who book, and then the 3rd, and then got halfway through Alice, before reading the 4th.  I wanted to read something else, but while I'm trying to decide what book read, I kept going back to Harry Potter.  And so, tonight, I started the 5th book.  Which I really hope isn't a mistake, cause it's the longest book, by far, and with the smallest print, so that means its even longer.  But I'm so wrapped up in the whole story, I think I should be able to get through it all.
***************************
Last night we had a HELL of a storm here.  Torrential rain, losta thunder, amazing lightning blasts, hail in some places.  Me, fool that I am, I went out onto the front porch, which was already wet from the rain coming down sideways, and filmed a minute of it all.  Got some good lightning shots, and I thought I'd post it here.  But it was so dark, except when there was lightning, there was nothing to see.  So yeah, you'll just have to take my word for it.
***************************
Since July 7th, I've only had three regular sodas.  I've been drinking a LOT of water, and choking down diet sodas.  And today, when I weighed myself at work, I was down 5 pounds.  Which isn't a lot in the larger scheme of things, but hopefully, I can keep going on with it.

Also, as an interesting aside, when I'm drinking regular soda, I much prefer fountain soda to bottled or canned.  And of course it HAS to be Pepsi and not Coke.  But when it comes to the diet crap, I can't stand fountain drinks I can only drink it from bottles or cans.  And when Im drinking diet, I can't stand Pepsi, Diet Coke is all I can take.  Irony, eh.
***************************
Last night also, I used my George Foreman grill...or actually, the non-name generic one I have.  I made a steak on it and it was fast and cooked all the way through and delicious!  Yummy!  Clean up kinda sucked a bit, but I really can't wait to use it again.  It's so quick and easy!

And of course, here's the Obligatory Bits-N-Pieces Eye Candy.

Memories, like the corners of my mind.....

They say smell is sense most connected to memory (or something like that) and I think that's true.  But I also think it's true that music can be connected to memory.

Like anytime I hear "Chasing Cars" by Snow Patrol, I think of Freddie. Not that it was 'our song', we never had an 'our song'.  But there was one time Freddie and I were laying bed, post-coitally, listening to the radio and that song came on.  And he said to me, after the one chorus, "If I lay here, if I just lay here, would you lie with me and just forget the world?"  Said it, not sung it.  I called him a cornball, and we both laughed.

And anytime I hear "I'm Yours" by Jason Mraz, I automatically think of Kris.  He sang that to me one evening here at my house.  I recorded it and posted it here, and on YouTube.  And even thinking about it now, makes me smile.

And even Angel, who I was only with for like ten days (although a passionate and drama filled ten day those were), there's a song.  We were driving somewhere, holding hands and "Jar Of Hearts" by Christina Perri came on, and Angel started singing it.  Not TO me, just out loud.  And it was the first time I had heard it.  So now, when it's on the radio, I thin of Angel.

And then there's Sean.  Well, I dont have a song that reminds me of him.  We never really listened to much music.  We did watch a lot of TV, went to a few movies, but no, no song.  Although he DID give me asparagus, so there is that.

So do any of you have songs that remind of boyfriends/girlfriends/lovers past?

It's me, I'm calling on the phone....

Thursday night, i got another call from Freddie.  We talked for about a half hour. He said he didn't get the job at Atlanta zoo, but he was their second choice out of 126 applicants.  And even so, the guy he talked to is going to try to get him a three month gig there.  And before that starts he trying to get him a short term job in the Charlotte Zoo.  And he mentioned he's gonna be taking his car down there whereever he goes.  He said on the drive down he planned on stopping Baltimore-ish to spend the night.  I told him to go a different route, come by here and stay the night here.  It'll be free, which is way cheaper then a hotel room in Baltimore-ish.  He said he'd think about it.  And we talked about a few other things.

All in all, a pleasant conversation.  But it was a bit freaky.  Still.  I mean, we're talking like old friends, which I suppose in some way we are.  But it's like we didn't stop talking in 2007, and it's like we didn't break up after dating for a few years.  It's all just kinda surreal.

But eh, whatever.  Even without the Rapture, life's still too short to worry about things like this.  Just go with the flow, right?

The past is alive.....

Freddie and I broke up in late 2007 (And if you don't know who I'm talking about, check the labels section in the sidebar, he has his own label).  Since then, we've chatted once on Yahoo (which was a strange little chat) and a short text conversation one Friday night at like 1:00am (when he was drunk in a gay bar in Philly watching a drag queen from Toronto and wanting to know if I knew her).  Other than that, I've heard nothing from Freddie.

Until about three weeks ago.  He sent me a Friend request on Facebook.  Okay, I thought, it's been two and a half years, why not?  What can it possibly hurt?  So I friended him.

Then I saw his updates about going to the Baltimore/DC area and visiting various zoos around there (he was a zoo science major in college, so that's no surprise).  About two weeks ago, I got a text from him asking if I wanted to get together in DC somewhere for lunch on Monday and catch up.  And while the idea sounded fun, it also sounded a bit...strange.  I mean, why all the sudden interest in talking and catching up when there's been virtually no contact in years?  But regardless, I already had plans for Monday so I couldn't go and told him.

Last Saturday, A Local Celebrity, Mr. David ParisPeking and I went to Applebees to eat after work.  And while there, I got a phone call from Freddie.  He just wanted to talk and catch up.  But of course I was eating so I couldn't.  But later that night, I did call him back.

He was dog sitting for his cousin.  And we talked, probably 45 minutes.  I had thought it might be awkward, but it wasn't in any way awkward.  It was a relaxed, free-flowing, easy going conversation.  Just like it was when we were together and talking on the phone every night.  And then his cousin came back, so he had to go.  But he called me as he was driving home and we spoke for perhaps another 15 minutes.

It really surprised me how well the conversation went.  I mean, it's not like Freddie and I parted on bad terms, becuase we didn't.  Honestly, our relationship was dead well before we officially ended it.  But still, after all those years, I didn't really think he ever even gave me a thought.  And I certainly ddin't think he was interested in talking again.

But I'm pleased to say I was wrong.  And I'm glad he and I talked.  And we said we'd talk more later.  And hopefully, we will.

Happy Fucking Valentine's Day.

I HATE Valentine's Day. Always have. Always will. Even when I've been dating someone I hated it. One year, when I was dating Freddie, I told him the beginning of February that I was not going to be sending him any cards, flowers, candy or presents, and told him NOT to sent me any either, because I DETEST Valentine's Day. Course, that year, on February 14th, flowers did arrive for me, but they were all purple and white flowers in a purple vase. And the card read, "Purple Flowers because I love you and NOT for Valentine's Day." That was okay.

But serioulsy, if I love someone, I'm going to tell them that throughout the year NOT on a particular day that Hallmark Greeting Cards and Russell Stovers Candy and floral companies say I have to tell them. And people being told that they have to have a Valentine on Valentine's Day or else they're something wrong with them. Bah.

Fuck the whole idea.

If I lay here, if I just lay here, would you live with me....

God, I can be SUCH a fag sometimes.

So last night, I'm writing up the last Puntabupoolparty post, and I've got the iTunes playing on random, right? It's mostly background music, not really paying too much attention to it. And without realizing it, I just started singing along with a few songs.

Well, one of them was
Chasing Cars by Snow Patrol. And halfway through the song it occured to me what I was listening to and singing. This was the unofficial "Our Song" for Freddie and I. Whenever I hear it, I think of he and I laying in bed one Sunday morning, while it played on the radio. We were cuddling, spooning really, and then he rolled over so that our faces were just inches from each other. And he started singing it. But not well. And I sang it back. Even worse. And then we laughed, kissed, and just held each other. And all was right with the world. And that's when it became "Our Song".

Although last night, when I remembered this, I stopping singing and typing and just relived the memory. And then before the song ended, I started crying. Not sobbing, just tears running down my cheeks. And it's funny, cause I haven't really thought of Freddie in years, and it's not as if I still want to be with the guy or anything. I mean, it was great times when they were happening, but they're a part of my past now. So I'm not really sure why I was crying, but crying I was.

I went back and looked at the Freddie photos...these are three of my favorites:

God, I can be such a fag sometimes.

All good things...

Freddie and I are no more.

Okay, enough melodrama. He called me last night, and said that he was wanting a break, and maybe more. When I asked him why, he said the distance was getting to him. I know that wasnt really it, and I could tell, this past week, how...distracted he was when we talked on the phone. So this wasn't totally completely unexpected.

I asked if there was someone else, and he, sweetly, said he didn't want it to be about that. But he did admit that there was a guy back home, where he was now. A guy only two years different in age to him. He and this guy had started talking on MySpace, and now that Freddie was home, he and this guy were hanging out and all. He's not sure it will develop into anything lasting, but he wants to try. And he knows the risk he is taking by ending it with me, but he has to try.

I told him it took balls for him to admit this to me, and to tell me about it. A lot of people would just have fooled around with us both. And it wouldn't have been fair to either the other guy or me for Freddie to it that way.

Freddie said he still wants to talk to me, and despite that probably being a bit difficult, I want to do that too. I know, I know, EVERYONE says "we'll still be friends". In our case, I think we will. Months before Freddie and i ever met in person and "dated", we were talking to each other online and on the phone. I was kind of mentoring him in his coming out and coming to terms with being gay. Our relationship was based on that first, before it got physical.

I told Freddie that if this is what he wants, then this is what we'll do. I refuse to be the boyfriend who demands that his partner not leave him, and begs, threatens and pleads with him not to go. I refuse to prevent Freddie from fully experiencing his life but metaphorically typing him down. He wants to try other things, I'll let him try other things.

But as I told him, I'm not going to be waiting by the phone for him to come back. I'm not saying that to be mean, and I do NOT have some guy waiting in the wings to take his place. however, in the time Freddie and I have been together, I have turned down a few guys who wanted to "date" or try a relationship. If Freddie and I are apart, I told him, I will not turn those offers down if they come along.

I still love the little guy. I believe he still loves me too. I think we always will. But he feels the need to try new things, experience something different. If he and I are meant to be together, we will be. But for now, our lives are taking different paths. Do not let the calmness of this post fool you. I am not happy about this, this is not what I want. But it is the way things are going to be.

I hope he had fun with me, I hope he enjoyed himself. I hope he learned something, maybe, that he can use in the future. And I hope he knows how much he's changed my life. And I hope this new guy (who is much MUCH closer to his age) treats him right. He deserves only the best.

Spent the evening at your girlfriends..

Johnnie called me last night. We talked for about an hour. He wanted to see how I was doing, this was the first time we really talked since my dad died. And then he talked about himself and how he's doing.

Back when he was an undergrad at college in Bradford PA he had this lesbian friend, Megan. I met her once on a visit with him. Blonde, butchy and funny, I liked her. Very friendly.

Johnnie's now attending grad school (and has been for two year) in Philly. One the girls he dated earlier this year was this Indian chick named Sophia. (Indian as in from Bombay, not a Native American) He thought she was prefect, cause he's got a thing for Indian/Pakistani/etc/etc women. And feet too....but I digress...

Well, after a few dates, Sophia broke it off with Johnnie. She said she had a great time with, and liked him a lot, but, well....she's a lesbian. Had never been with a girl, but came out to herself while she was dating him (imagine the effect this had on HIS self-esteem).

Well, he told me last night, that he had introduced them, via email and the phone and such. And just recently,Megan told him she was coming to visit Philly. Johnnie was excited, but said he'd have to get his place cleaned up. It was then Megan informed that he didn't need to: she would be staying the five days with Sophia at her place.

Johnnie's somewhat flabbergasted. Not so much that his ex-girlfriend is now dating a lesbian friend from college, but that they'd stay together without having met each other and only talked on the phone and online. Oh well, true lesbian love, I guess.

In other news, Freddie is going home tonight and remaining there for over a week for the Thanksgiving holiday. He called me a few minutes ago. he was driving up. And Hagrid was with him. On the passenger seat. Belted in. And covered with Freddie's coat to help keep him warm. Freddie's mother is apparently not that thrilled but she's dealing with her son bringing a real live snake home.

I somehow doubt she'd deal as well if he brought a real live 40 year old boyfriend home.

Now you've got soup in the laundry...

Last Sunday night, when Freddie called me, he told me that he gotten up at 7:30 that morning. I scoffed, cause I know he rarely if ever gets up before 10:00 am when he's here (but then, maybe he's busier the nights before when he's here as opposed to when he's at college. Don't know, just sayin....) He said he had all this laundry to do and had to get up that early to get a washer.

But when he got to the laundry room, they were all already taken. So he waited and then one of the "industrial" washers came open, which was good, because he could fit all the clothes he needed to do into one "industrial" as opposed to the two regular ones he'd need. Soon thereafter, another washer opened up, so Freddie's roommate Chris used that one to wash his clothes.

When they were done, they got one of the "industrial" dryers (I forget whether they had to wait for it though), so they put all thier clothes in the dryer together. They came back an hour later, and the clothes still were wet. So they ran them through the cycle again, and after another hour, the clothes were STILL wet. Apparently, the dryer went around and around, but never turned on any heat. It was broken.

So, Freddie and Chris did the only thing they could. Get someone to fix it? nah, no one available. Take the clothes to a laundramat in town and dry them? Nah, that would take money, which they didn't have. They brought all thier clothes back to thier dorm room and hung them up. All. OVER. hung them from doors, from drawers, from the backs of chairs, from the sides and bottoms of thier beds, from the shower, perhaps? Freddie took photos.

Including a panoramic view:

He said they had spent a good portion of the day blowing them dry with hair dryers. I told him that was a great idea, as I know how good he is with blowing things. He failed to see the humor in that statement.

Anyway, eventually, the clothes did get dry. But for some reason, I'm a bit worried, that these college-educated guys, who are the future of our nation, had to have their wet clothes hanging all over thier room for hours. Doesn't inspire confidence in the future of our leaders, does it? Course, they WERE innovative, so that's a good thing...

Oh, and by the way, Hagrid is still alive and doing well, thanks for asking.

As the snake uncoiled on a road...

One night this week, while Freddie and I were talking, he was telling me about this cute shirtless guy that was outside his window doing some painting, and how Freddie felt like me at the time, cause he took some photos of the guy (Freddie knowing how I'm obsessive about taking photos of hot guy strangers in public).

Then he told me more about Hagrid, who apparently is a good snake too (although how would it be a bad snake? Hissing at all hours of the night? Peeing on the floor? Humping visitors? Constricting strangers?), and he said he's send me some photos of him. Which he did. I can't tell the difference.
But when I opened the email, i saw there were 16 photos attached. I thought, "Christ, he's talking 16 photos of the snake? What can there possibly be about the snake to warrant 16 photos of it? I've lived in this house for 10 years, and I don't have anywhere NEAR 16 photos of the house!" But as I opened them, I found out that the last two photos were of Hagrid. The other 14...yeah, they were of the hot shirtless guy painting outside his room! Did me proud, my lil Freddie did, God bless 'im!

Anyway without further ado, I give you Hagrid...and cute guy painting outside Freddie's window.

(Hagrid's the first photo!)

And as an added bonus (for me) right now, even as I type this, Freddie is on his way down here to visit for the weekend. YAY! It's been since September. So we KNOW Uncle Polt is gonna have a great weekend!

His belly up, then he stops...

Freddie called me yesterday. Neville, his cornsnake, was dead. Freddie found him belly up in the aqaurium. Freddie did know why he died (frankly, I think he died of embarrassement when he found out was his name was), but since Freddie had him less than a week, he was going to call the pet shop. And later in the day, he called me again, to tell me he had gotten another snake that looks just like Neville. But he didn't name this one Neville Two, or Nigel, or something like that. No, he named it Hagrid.

*SIGH*

Neville, rest in peace.

But you call yourself by different names...

During our call this evening, Freddie told me he named the snake. He had thought about Cornelious, but decided instead on Neville. NEVILLE! I asked if he was a British Corn Snake, which Freddie didn't think he was (didn't even think there was such a thing). So why would he choose Neville? Oh who knows, the kid also has a turtle at home called Bradley, of all things, so go figure.

Later, he said something about me being old and forgetful, and I said, "Thank you, Mr. Compassionate And Understanding." And he shot right back, "You're welcome, Mr. Sarcastic And Bitter."

Heeheheheh! That, that is is why I love him.

But seriously, you tell me, which looks more like a Neville?

Snakes causing the fate, sadistic and free...

Freddie called me this evening. We chatted for a bit. Then he told me he got something and made me guess...which is never a good proposition. then he told me: he got a snake. After a few joking comments about his 'trouser snake' we turned to the matter at hand.

A snake.

*SIGH* He got a snake. A corn snake, which means nothing to me. So when i got online, I googled it, and this is what I got:

I have no idea if that's what his snake looks like or not, but that's a corn snake. Freddie now owns a snake.

A snake?

So I asked him how big it was (again causing some jokes about the comparisons with his 'trouser snake'), and he said about a foot long. I asked if it was a boy or a girl. he said it was too small to know yet (I presume the snake knows what gender it is, I took to mean that's it too young for Freddie to tell what gender it is yet). I asked what he named it, he said it didn't have a name yet. I suggest Annie Conda, cause that would show that even though it's a little snake, it has nig snake attitude. I got silence on the other end of the phone. Then I suggested since it's a corn snake he could name is Maize. If its a girl, he can call it Maizey. I dont think he was to warm to that idea either. But that's what I'm calling it. No matter he names it, it'll always be Maizey to me.

I asked if it was a constrictor or a biter. he said he didn't know. HE DIDN'T KNOW!?!?!?! I would think that's something you'd really wanna find out before you buy it, whether it's gonna bite you or try to strangle you. he told me it wasn't poisonious. Like that makes a differnce. I told him dogs aren't poisonious either, but I'm gonna get one that's prone to biting! (the dog anaolgy kinda doens't work, though, cause I'm not aware of any dog that would try strangle you. Maybe Dawg The Bounty Hunter.....but I digress...)

I asked what it eats, and he said mice. I told him I couldn't do that, that would be too harsh for me. Then he tells me the mice are dead. They're frozen. I was dumbstruck. I know you can't feed a snake a cold dead creature. Then he tells me you have to put the mouse in hot water and then feed it to the snake. Pffft, yeah right! Like I'm gonna boil a dead frozen mouse just so my snake can eat it!!! Bad enough it's dead and then frozen, but now you're gonna BOIL it??? Isn't that carcus desecration or something???

And then I FIRMLY told him, there with be NO snake, corn or otherwise, at MY apartment, even if it IS named Maizey. He can just leave in Ag's apartment on the second floor on his way up. (heheh, I can hear her screaming now even as she reads this. Or was that thump the sound of her hitting the floor, fainted?)

A snake. *SIGH* can't really play fetch with a snake can ya? Or teach it tricks? Or teach it to repeat words? Or use a laserpointer to play withit? Or take it for walks? Or watch it run around in a little wheel? Hmm, wonder what it's good for. Watching it constrict around, or just bite as the case may be, a frozen, dead, boiled rat, I suppose. But hey, it's his pet, not mine. If it makes him happy, that's all that matters.

But I'm telling you right now, if we move in together, I'm still getting my dog, Emmitt, and he can get his bird, but there will be NO snake living under roof....even if it is adorably named Maizey.

Hold, hold, hold onto your wigs...

The last time Freddie was down here, I managed to get this wig on him. Not that he really wanted it on him, as I think you can see from the photo itself. I don't know, it all just makes me laugh.

Best 5 dollars and 99 cents I even spent, that wig. Freddie's such a good sport.
