So, let's talk about what's happened lately, shall we?

Firstly, last Wednesday, Phoenix stopped by.  It's been quite some time since he and I hung out, I've been in the house 4.5 years, and this is only the second time he's been here, so that should give you some idea.  We ate at the Waynesburger and then came back here and just talked and caught up for a few hours.  Lots of fun, that.  I was glad to touch base again with him.

Friday night, Colin had planned to stop by.  He told me he'd be here about 5.  I got home 430ish, popped a bagel in the toaster and smothered it with cheese creme, was gonna eat it before he got here.  Before I ate it, I texted him to tell him I wasn't sure if he could park in back next to my car because there was a little pile of snow and maybe be wanted to park out front.  Immediately, I got a text back reading: I'm here.  Yeah, he was already parked next to me. ("I drive and park around DC, a little pile of snow is nothing", he says.)  He was there early, parked, and ready to go.  So go we went.

After the amazing bedtimesexxyfun we showered and came downstairs.  I ordered us pizza and we watched "Shaun Of The Dead" (Still funny after several viewings).  Then we watch some TV shows (or rather I did, Colin was a bit involved in...something else...he couldn't watch TV with what he was doing.  But I digress....)
After all this, we went to bed basically just to sleep.

I had to get up the next day to go to work.  Colin told me he always gets up at 530am.  He told me the last time he spent the night, he just laid there for an hour until my alarm went off.  I told him this time, he didn't have to do that.  And he didnt.  He woke me up right after 530....with some bedtimesexxyfun.  (I love bedtimesexxyfun first thing in the morning).  Then we showered, and left, I to work, him to his friends here in town.

Saturday after work, A Local Celebrity, Mr. David ParisPeking stopped by.  Went then went to Chambersburg to eat at Fuddruckers, and then drove back to Hagerstown so he could look at ukuleles.  (no seriously, he wanted to)  The store, unfortunately, was closed, but when he went home, he ordered one online (feel free to mock him in the comments below).

Sunday, I spent the day doing nothing (to wit, woke up at 9:00, napped from 1:15 until about 5:20, went to bed at 8:00 and to sleep at 9:30).

Monday, was the first day of my jury duty.  And it snowed.  Not as bad as predicted, maybe just three inches or so.  But I got up, showered, dressed, cleaned the car off, and got to the courthouse but 815.  The first day was SO slow, tons of recesses, just kinda drug on and on.  I couldn't think there was any way they'd get done in just two days.  So Monday night I came home and hung out for a bit before going to be around 9.

This morning, I got up for the second day of the trial.  It went a bit faster, but the testimony was confusing.  They sent us to deliberations around 4, we had the verdicts around 530.  I volunteered to be the foreman, since I had done it before, and they all said that was fine, so i got to read the verdicts.

Long story short, the trail was a child sexual abuse case.  The guy was charged with aggravated indecent assault of a child, indecent assault of a child and rape of a child.  We all believed the Commonwealth didnt prove anything to use, they had a pretty crappy case.  So we disposed of the first and third charges almost right away.  Most of the rest of the time we spent on the second charge.  We finally all agreed he was guilty of that.

It was boring during the trial, but exciting in deliberations, the back and forth and discussing and persuading.  Overall, I look forward to being on a jury again if I'm selected.

So, that's been my last week.  I've been a bit late in posting some of the regular daily things, and that's why.  But hopefully I'll be back on schedule now and everything will get back to some semblance of normalcy again.

Should old aquaintance, be forgot....

It's time for me to look back over my year and list the Top Ten Biggest Things Of 2013.  These won't necessarily be the best things of the year, but they are the biggest.

10. New Friends

I've met several new guys this year: Louis, Derrick, Colin, and Jimmy.  They all started out basically as fuckbuddies, but they've all turned into more than that.  They've turned into friends, more or less.  Oh, not real close friends to be sure, but in addition to great sex with all of them, unlike fuckbuddies, afterwards, we talk, hang out, get something to eat, watch TV.  Just act like friends.  And hopefully, that'll continue in 2014.  Oh, and the great sex with them as well.

9. Rewatching The West Wing

In the fall, I rewatched all 7 seasons of The West Wing again.  The last time I did so was 2008.  And surprisingly I got more out of it this year than before, but I enjoyed it just as much, if not more, than before.  It truly is one of THE best dramas ever shown on TV.  This year, I also watched Spartacus and Downton Abbey on DVD, and I enjoyed them all, but The West Wing is head and shoulders above them all.  Even though it's been off the air ten years.

8. Gay Pride Parade

Justin, Josh, Polt, Paul, Travis

CC, StratCat

Lynda Carter (looking directly at us, making eye contact!)

I always have a fun time at Pride.  But this year was one of the great ones.  In addition to this being my 16th or so year of the parade, I was there with my coworker StratCat (for her 4th time), StratCat's cousin CC (for her 3rd time), CC's son Josh (for his 2nd time) and Josh's boyfriend Justin (for his 1st time).  Also, Paul and Travis were there for their second time.  I was disappointed to see for the first year ever, they had put up barricades along the route, but that was all forgotten when the parade started.  And the grand marshal was the 1970's Wonder Woman herself, Lynda Carter!  And we made eye contact she and I!  It was magical!  Just a great fun time with great fun people!

7. Lil Chris

My cousin had a baby in July who I call Lil Chris.  It's the first baby in our family in 7 years.  I love kids, they're so much fun.  And Lil Chris is such a good baby.  I've been around his for hours on Thanksgiving and during our family Christmas and he was passed all around to a whole bunch of people and never once got fussy or cried.  I'm glad he's turned out healthy and happy.  He's a great addition to the family.

6. Sebastian paid off

When I bought Sebastian back in February of 2010, it was an emergency thing.  Miss Cleo had thrown a rod in her engine and was done.  So I didn't have any time to plan or save for a new car before I needed him.  I had money of my own to put down on him, but I borrowed the rest of the money from mom.  In December of this year, I finally got mom paid off for that money.  Now, I've got a extra $200 a month I can use for other things....like paying off that credit card.  Or buying even more books!

5. Treadmill

Finally got that treadmill I've been wanting for years.  It's taking up a huge chunk of my dining room, but at least now I have no excuse for not walking.  To be honest, I've been slacking off on doing that as of late, but that's my only New Year's Resolution this year: to use the treadmill as I always intended: at least every other day.

4. Changes at Work

For most of the first decade of my career I was plagued by four people making my life hell there and just ruining all the fun.  In December 2010, Bossy-Know-It-All Coworker retired, and two others left before her.  That left just one: the big boss.   Things with big boss improved after BKIA Coworker left, but he, big boss, was still there and still....well not a good boss.  He had no idea how to manage people and created more problems than he solved.  Well big boss retired this year, which was great news.  He was replaced by someone who was my immediate superior, and HE was replaced by someone who I've always had a great working relationship with.  So now, the top three big bosses at work are all great managers and I can work easily with them all.  Things are SO MUCH better at work now.  This is how they should have been during the first 18 years I worked there, but I'm glad it will be that way for now.  It's great to have bosses that know how to be bosses.

3. Computer Issues

In October my computer started going wonky.  Again.  It would freeze up for now reason.  It would reboot for no reason. I got multiple blue screens of death.  I was contemplating reinstalling Windows. I let it go until mid-December when Corey stopped by for a visit.  He works on computers for a living and he ran some diagnostic on the computer.  I discovered it said there was a problem with the hard drive.  That's all I needed to know and so I ordered a new computer.  Which has arrived.  But since the diagnostic, the computer's worked more or less like it's supposed to. I'll get the new one set up soon, but nonetheless, the wonky computer gave me fits, frustrations, anger, and worries for two month this year.

2. Angel

In June, we had to put Angel down.  She had congestive heart failure, was having breathing issues and would, on occasion, just fall over or pass out.  And she wasn't going to get any better.  We had had her for like 12 years and she lived a good long life.  It was tough, but it was the right thing to do.  It's been tough on mom and me, but we both know she's not suffering anymore, and we always have the memories of her.  And plenty of photos.

1. Stress

I don't know if this is exactly the right word, but it's what I'm calling it. I haven't mentioned this on the blog but some of the people who know me in person know about this.  Starting in mid-August and continuing all the way until December, I had such a feeling of dread all the time.  Like something bad, something REALLY bad was going to happen ALL THE TIME!  It was made worse by some work stresser and by the computer issues and other things, but I just could not get out from under this cloud of fear and uncertainty.  I discussed with my doctor during a regular visit and she said, well basically, it could be like a mid-life crisis.  She put me on serotonin, and amazingly, within two weeks, everything cleared up.  Thoughts that before would cause me to lose sleep, not eat and just lay on the couch and worry, now, dont really bother me at all.  I dont know how long I'll be on the serotonin, hopefully I'll only need to be on it temporarily to get over this hump, but ultimately, I'm just glad I'm beyond it and back to more or less normal.  I can't tell you how horrible I was feeling and how much better I'm feeling now.  It was a really terrible rough time, but the last month of the year has been so much better.  And that's how I want to end the year!

Now, on to 2014.

No posts for a lil bit, sorry about that.  The computer's still chugging along more or less.  But yesterday, after work, I had a surprise visit from Colin.  And he ended up staying the night, which was awesome, of course.  And then I had to get up and go to work today and do something with mom after work.

But anyway, that's why I didn't post the daily things.  And why I'll do it here in a bit.

It's been, one week since you looked at me....

So my mini-vacation (to nowhere cause that's where I've gone) is almost over.  I got back to work tomorrow, but I'll be spending the entire day in CPR training and not the office, so I guess while I'm technically back AT work I won't be working.

So what did I do over the last week?  Let's see if I remember....

In roughly chronological order:

Colin stopped by for a short bit Thursday night; I got head while watching football; had a mini-argument with mom; didn't shower for over 24 hours; took several walks; slept in most mornings; had a treadmill delivered; rearranged the dining room to house the treadmill; went to eat with and hung out with Ghostie until late Saturday night; had three different booty calls set up, none of which, for various reasons, occured; ate some of Mama Polt's homemade cooking; watched football with ALCMDPP; watched Dallas lose embarrassingly; walked a half hour on the treadmill; didnt shower again for almost 24 hours; mailed a letter; mailed a package; went through a bit of unwanted melancholy; went to see Mamma Mia at my alma mater Shippensburg University with mom, my friend Michelle, and her mother; got my new driver's license photo taken; went shopping with mom; and over the seven days, watched nearly two full seasons of The West Wing, finishing the series just about a half hour ago. (I'm a smidge verklempt about that last episode of the last season...and just about having finished the entire series again)

SO, after all that, I get CPR tomorrow and then back to actual work on Friday.  *SIGH*

Day one....

SO...today was the first day off of my seven day vacation.  How did it go?  Thanks for asking.

Unfortunately, Colin was unable to stay last night (although he did stop by for a lil bedtimesexxyfun) so I slept alone.  I woke up about 1030 but didn't get out of bed until around noon.  I never bother to shower today.  I went downstairs, and watched about 15 episodes of the sixth season of The West Wing.  The computer has been still backing up to Carbonite (29% as of now, after five days of initial backup).  Mom stopped by for a bit and we ended up having a mini-argument.  And I felt extreme guilt. So I got a thank you card, wrote her a lil note expressing everything I felt and apologized.  I talked it to her house, but she wasnt there, so I left it and then took a short walk.  Upon returning home, I set up a dinner and movie with Ghostie tomorrow night.  Also, I found out the time I'm having something delivered tomorrow (more on that tomorrow).  I had lunch from Rutters and dinner of a frozen tv thing.  And now, after having completed the sixth season, I'm going to bed.

See yall tomorrow.

November came down hard this year...

So let's talk November.

November is my favorite month, for many reasons.  Let me count the ways:

It's getting cool enough to wear jackets.
It's got Veteran's Day.
It's got Thanksgiving, and all the food associated with it.
Football's in full swing.
I fill out my Christmas Cards on Thanksgiving while watching football.
It's my birthday month.

This particular November, though, is gonna be even more awesome because I'm gonna be off work quite a bit.  The 8th, I'm taking off because Colin is stopping by and staying over the night previous.  Monday the 11th is both Veterans' Day and my regular day off, so I'm taking the 12th off for the holiday.  In addition, that night I'm going to see Mamma Mia with mom, my friend Michelle and her mom in Shippensburg.  Since that's likely to be late, I'm going to take the day after, the 13th, off as well.  And on the 14th, I'll be at work, but not really working since I'll be taking CPR training that day.  The 22nd and the 23rd, I'll take off because FDot is supposed to come down and spend the weekend (still kinda up in the air, but I really hope it happens, that'll be so much fun).  And then of course, there's Thanksgiving Day.

So, there are 22 working day in the month of November and I'm going to be off 7 of those days, nearly a third.  And I'll be spending those days off doing things like chowing down on turkey, watching Doctor Who  with FDot, singing along with ABBA, and having bedtimesexxyfun with Colin.

November's gonna rock!

Light in the dark as I search for a resolution....

So the conundrum resolved itself.

Colin texted me in the early afternoon saying he'd be here about 830 pm. Then, about 745 he texted and said, "I'll be there tomorrow morning, I didn't know The Walking Dead was on tonight.  Unless I can come over at 10."

I texted him back that he could of course come over at 10, or he could just come over and watch The Walking Dead here, and a little bit of the football game besides.  And he said he'd see me soon.

SO, the resolution was that Colin came over before the Walking Dead and we watched a bit of the game, then we watched the Walking Dead.  Then we watched the football game until the 4th Quarter.  Well, actually, *I* watched the game.  Colin, bless him, was busy with something else...in my lap.

So after a bit of all that, when Dallas was ahead 24-16, and the game not over, with it able to go either way, I, surprisingly, wasn't terribly concerned about the game.  I was more interested in Colin....and what he was doing. So I turned off the TV and we went to bed, for....more of that.

He spent the night.  Before we went to sleep, there was some bedtimesexxyfun.  When we woke up this morning, there was more bedtimesexxyfun, and then we cuddled and drifted off to sleep.  Waking up again, we went to Applebee's to get some lunch, came back here, got back in bed for some more bedtimesexxyfun and then ended up napping a bit before we got up and he left to go home.

So the conundrum ended up not really being a conundrum at all, and everything worked out in the best way possible...including Dallas beating the Redskins 31-16.
