 So....

I realzied something earlier this week...

June 12: Earlier that week, I decided to take that Friday off, I've got the leave, and the boss approved it.
June 19: Juneteenth holiday, I was off work
June 26: I was sick with the flu this week from early Wednesday through Saturday
July 3: Work gave us the day before the holiday to take Independence Day
July 10: I had a prearranged doctor appointment
July 17: I had off the last half of this week due to a family situation (which didn't turn out as planned, but it's all cool).

So in other words, I haven't worked a Friday in 6 weeks!  And it wasn't planned that way, it's just the way things turned out.

Crazy.

 SO....my day.

I had a doctor's appointment mid morning (just an annual visit, a yearly checkup, nothing bad) so I had off work.  Nice.

The doctor and I had a good visit.  I like him, its apparent he likes me too.  We talked about my work and about my upcoming retirement, of all things.  it was longer than a usual visit I imagine.  My appointment was at 9:45, he came in the room at about 10:15.  I left right around 11:00.  I also got the RSV vaccine, which both the nurse and recommended.  Don't wanna be taken out by a respiratory illness if a vaccine could help.

After the appointment, since I'd not had coffee or breakfast yet, I drove to Sheetz and got both.  Ate the Boston Creme Donut in the car, and then drove to Wal-Mart.  Took my coffee in with me.  Got a few things I needed (and a few things I didn't need, just wanted).  As I left, I walked by the Subway/Auntie Annie's food area and smelled the Auntie Annie's soft pretzels.  I took my stuff out to the car and then thought, I haven't had a soft pretzel in forever.  SO I walked back in a got a cup of pretzel nuggets and a soda.

I was gonna stop by the Credit Union, but when I pulled towards it I saw the parking lot was packed, so I was like, nope, I'll go another time.

I then drove to CVS and picked up a prescription the doc had called in for me.  And it was uncharacterically empty.  Thank God.  I HATE crowds of people in there, mostly cause they're usually old and slow or ill and coughing and hacking and shit.  Anyway, not such issues this time.

When I got back in the car I saw that I was at just a quarter of a tank of gas.  SO I drove to Rutters to get gas, using my Rutters card to get 51 cents off a gallon of gas!  I came back home, did some stuff on the computer and then remembered I needed to do towels.  So I've got one load in the washer and another in the dryer right now.

And then I settled in to watch the World Cup game between Spain and Belgium, which is currently tied and almost at the end of regular time.

Not sure what the rest of the afternoon and evening hold, but I'm certain it wont be as busy as what the day has been so far.

 I DETEST Daylight Savings Time.

I have for many many years and most likely always will.

It's gotten a bit better since the doctor put me vitamin D supplements.  Now I only take about a day to get adjusted instead of 5 days to a week.  But, still I hate it.

Right before the change, when I get up in the morning, there's light coming in the windows!  That helps  me get up and get motivated.    And now, after the change, it'll be dark again and making it all that harder to wake up and get moving.

And what for?  Just so in the summer it stays light until 9 PM?  WHY?  What the fuck does anyone need light outside for that late at nighr?

Just do away with Daylight Savings Time OR just go with Daylight Saving Time all the time!  Either way, it'll be consistent throughout the year.

I just hate Daylight Savings Time. Ugh.

And so, today as it's the weekend after Thanksgiving, it's my traditional time to decorate for Christmas.  Mom came in and we got the room moved around, the tree put together and the decorations on the tree, with only a lil quibbling about putting the lights on it. Then I hung up and put out most of the other decorations myself.  She went home, and I went to get some Chinese for lunch.

The room before decorating.

The room after decorating.

The tree decorated

The front part of the room

Barker is again dressed in the spirit of the season.

And The Purple Christmas Tree Ornament For 2025.  It's more frilly, more fancy-schmancy than I usually get but honestly, it's the only one I could find.

 SO.....

Yesterday, Sunday the 9th, I got up, had my coffee, some breakfast, showered, packed and overnight bag and left here about 9.  I drove to Frederick (getting stuck in traffic on the interstate, but only for about 15 minutes or so) and met a friend of mine.  We went to eat at aka Friscos, where of course the food was delicious as always.  Then we went to Barnes & Noble were we hung out for a while.  I bought three books (see above) while he primarily played a game on his phone.

Then we went to the hotel I had gotten a room at and I checked in and we went up. We quickly had some bedtimesexxyfun and then laid there and chatted and cuddled until we both fell asleep into a lil nap.   Upon waking we hung out in bed, me watching football and he on his game again until we decided to get some supper.

We went to a Mexican restaurant and had yet another great meal!  Returning the hotel room, we played around a little and then cuddled in bed watching football or playing the game on the phone, until it was time for him to leave.

Afterwards, i was feeling a bit peckish.  Luckily there was a Sheetz right across the street.  So I went there, got a bottle of water and a packaged coffee cake.  I made a cup of tea in the hotel room and had that with the coffee cake and then settled in to watch Sunday Night Football.  After that ended a bit of wasting time on my phone, I went to sleep.

I slept fitfully, the mattress was harder than I was used to, the pillow softer.  But I did sleep.  Waking up, I was thinking of showering, but decided, I'd just do when I got home.  So I packed up with little I had and checked out of the hotel about 8:45am.

I went back to the Sheetz, got a large cup of coffee, a donut and a bottle of orange juice and then headed out for home, having a smooth ride, free of traffic jams, although there was some traffic.

I got home about 9:45.  After I showered and unpacked the small bag, it hit me: everything that had happened was in just a little over 24 hours.  It seems like I did SO Much more than what could be done in one day.  It was kinda like a mini-vacation: a hotel room, eating out at nice restaurants, hanging out with friends.

It was just a wonderful day.

 SO...

Earlier in the month, I realized I had a lot of leave saved up and hadn't been on an extended vacation since June of last year.  So I thought, I'm just gonna take some time off.  Ended up being a week.

Friday the 10th, I got up early and drove to Chambersburg where I dropped my ballot off at the courthouse and then went Ollies for a lil shopping. I then headed back to town and went to Wal-Mart where I got my second measles shot.  So I'm updated on that and all my shots.

In the afternoon I had a gentleman caller.  He used to be a somewhat regular of mine, but earlier in the year, he moved closer to Baltimore and instead of being a half hour away, as nearly two hours away.  We had been texting and such and since I was off work, and his afternoon was free, he came up for some bedtimesexxyfun.   And it was just as much fun as it was before he left.

After that I just hung around the house reading and watching TV and putzing around online.

Saturday the 11th, after having some breakfast (the healthy coffee and donut) I refilled the wiper fluid in Theo.  First time I ever did that, so I watched a vid on YouTube first and saw how easy it was and did it effortlessly.   I took the A/C units out of the windows and did laundry...was a veritable good little housewife that day.   While the clothes were washing, my regular fuckbuddy Derick, called me and he came over for a lil bit of bedtimesexxyfun.  Then, later in the evening, I got a message from another occasional gentleman caller, Ryan.  Unexpectedly we arranged for him to stop by and that was a LOT of fun.

Sunday the 12th, I went to Frederick to meet up with and hang out with a friend.  We ate at akaFriscos, the first time in years for me.  But damn the food was just as great.  And then he and I walked the length of Carroll Creek Park and then into and most of the length of Baker Park, and then back through it all to where we parked the car. It was a beautiful day, cool but not cloud, the sun was out, but lots of clouds.  And it was such a long extensive trip, we had to set down three times for shorts rests (well *I* had to, I'm so out of shape).  After a short trip to Barnes & Noble where I bought only one book (I was surprised too), I came home and rested the rest of the night as I was beat.

Monday the 13th, I got up a bit early and went to get groceries since I didn't do that Sunday.  And then I did more laundry.  A gentleman caller on Grindr, whom I've hung out with before, messaged me and we arranged for him to come by and bedtimesexxyfun ensued.  I discovered Bewitched was on Disney+ and started binging the series.

Also, 6 years ago, I was hooking up with this guy I met online Adam.  And then we drifted apart and I hadn't heard from of knew what happened to him.  Well Monday evening, I discovered his profile again on Grindr and he and I spent most of the evening chatting and catching up and decided to get together and hang out again sometime soon.

Tuesday the 14th, I had a dentist appointment.  I was there for a cleaning but turns out there's three things I need done (a crown, a filling and another crown glued back on).   So after the cleaning we made an appointment for me next month when I'm there for an hour (and HOUR in the dentist's chair...cringe) to get all the done.  The rest of the day I did the normal crap: reading, binging Bewitched, and putzing around online.

Wednesday the 15th, at 4am I woke up to use the bathroom and could NOT get back to sleep.  It sucked, but it was kinda okay too cause another occasionally texted me at 530am.  He usually swings by on his way to work and we have  some bedtimesexxyfun, and that's what happened this day.  Wouldn't have happened if I hadn't been unable to sleep, cause I would have missed the text notification.

After this I showered and headed to Chambersburg again. I needed to renew my driver's license.  I wanted to get a RealID, and I had everything, except for my Social Security card, which I have no idea where that is.  But it's fine, because I just got my passport renewed this year and I can use that to get onto a plane if I have to fly anywhere.   But I did get my regular license to that's taken care of now.   Since the PennDOT place is in the same shopping center as Ollies, I went back there, even though I had just been there Friday.    They're always getting new stuff in.  And then, I stopped by a comic book shop I haven't been in in years and bought some graphic novels.   I got KFC for lunch (been a while since I had that), finished the first season of Bewitched and started the second, and then I did a bit of redecorating the back bedroom, hanging up some Cowboys' jerseys I had been wanting to for a while I never done.  Until that day.

Thursday the 16th, my last day, I had an eye appointment, the one year follow up to my cataract removal.  And everything was fine.  I did some shopping wit mom at SaveALot, the grocery store, and then I came home and relaxed and rested and psyched myself up for returning the work.

And that was pretty damn nice vacation, considering it was a staycation.

 So....this weekend.

After work, I picked up Cedrik.  Didn't have to wait, it was great, as it always should be.  We decided to go get something to eat right away, he suggested Burger King, so there we went.  Actually got a pic of him wearing the paper crown.  He got one of me holding up a ketchup covered french fry.  Seems a fair comparison.

We came home and almost immediately had some great bedtimesexxyfun.  Following this (and a bit of cuddling and chatting) he wanted to take a bath and do some of his footcare.  And he did, while I came downstairs and read my book and got online.  When he was finished and came downstairs, we did some dishes (he washing, me drying) and cuddled on the sofa while watching a miniseries documentary The Americas.  That was quite nice to do that together, as a couple.   And we both got tired about the same time and went to bed together, chatted a bit and cuddled.

A terrible, but thankfully quick, thunderstorm passed through. We were chatting quietly and all of a sudden it sounded like a train was passing the house!  Teh window were being battered by the wind, then with rain, then there was the lightning.  The power went out, but a few seconds later came back up, and that's all the problem we had with that.  Other people I've heard are still without power.  Wal-Mart and a grocery store had to closed as they lost all power.  Trees were down everywhere.  The only thing I discovered wrong around the house was, the wind had blown by wrought iron patio table and chairs across the front porch and against the railing dividing mine and the neighbor's porch next door!  Crazy strong wind.

Sunday, we got up and got breakfast from Rutters (and I my coffee).  We hung out for a bit, doing nothing important, just chatting.  (We both had some gastrointestinal issues involving the toilet, separately thank God, that I'll not go into here.  But it made for a somewhat shitty day).   Eventually, we went to the cemetery and I put the hard boiled egg on pap's grave, as I do every year.  I also said a few words to him, grandma and my cousin infant daughter who's buried there too.  And, Cedrik came with me the graveside.  I "introduced" all three of them to him.  We held hands and I teared up a bit.

Following this, we went out to mom's retirement village. I showed him around a recreation area there (where also the residents have their garden plots) while he smoked a cigarette.  Then we went to mom's.

There, as every year, I had an Easter basket with the card, painted egg, and some sugar free candy.  And as expected, she also had a card, and egg and a chocolate bunny for Cedrik.  She's such a sweetheart.  Then we ate Easter lunch: ham, sweet potatoes, green beans and rolls.  Cherry pie for dessert.  And leftover to bring home.  As always, great food from her.

Cedrik and I returned home.  We sat on the front porch and chatted some more (with the furniture put back where they are supposed to be).  We had talked of taking a walk, but he said he wasn't feeling terribly well, a bit nauseous.   So he laid on the sofa and took a nap, while I read my book and watched over him.

After he woke up, we decided to get Chinese takeout (he was no longer nauseous), and so we did.    Brought it back and ate it.  Then we watched more of The Americas.  After a bit of that, at the end of one episode, I was feeling quite tired, but of course after his nap, he wasn't.  So I went to bed and told him to come up when he was tired.  At some point, he woke me up a bit coming into the bedroom, but he got in bed, and both of us were soon asleep.

Now I woke up this morning at the normal time, but of course, he was still sleeping.  So I got us breakfast and coffee from Rutters and came back here to eat mine.  I was waiting to give him more sleep before waking him up for the day.  But he woke up himself, over a phone call from one of his friends here in town.  I'm not going into that, it's no relevant to air those issues.  But he left for a bit to go to his friends house.  And when he returned, he was not feeling well (well he wasn't when he woke up, but it was worse now dealing with everything that was going on) and asked if I could take him back home.

Of course I did.  We had tentatively planned to eat at Montezuma's today for lunch, but he was back before lunch.  So since I had worked up an appetite for some Mexican, I just went there myself and had lunch there while reading my book.  Following that I came home watch the rest of the Americas and started a new documentary series  And now I'm just waiting to get tired before going to bed and starting the new week.

 So.....

My weekend.  After work Saturday I was too pick up Cedrik.  However, it took him a freaking HOUR to get to me. This sadly is not an uncommon occurrences (well, the hour late is, but not having to wait on him).  And while we discussed it a bit at the time, really we just shoved it under the rug and went on.

He was supposed to cook us dinner, or choose a restaurant for us to eat at.  And he wanted to cook, but didn't feel like it, so he was going to think of someplace he wanted to eat at.  But we came home so I could change out of my workclothes....and of course this led to some bedtimesexxyfun.  Once recovered, we went to Cafe del Sol for the second time.  Good food as always, great company.  Then we came home, both of us were tired, so we went to bed and to sleep.

Sunday morning, before getting up, we had more bedtimesexxyfun.  Then I got showered and went to Rutters for coffee/breakfast.  When I got home, Cedrik had come down and was having his usual breakfast of Fruity Pebbles.  He then got showered up and dressed.  I dressed while he showered.  I put on khakis, a buttomup long sleeved shirt and even a freakin' tie!  And then we headed out...to church.

Yes, I said CHURCH!

One of Cedrik's friends and her boyfriend go to the church regularly, and she invited Cedrik along.  When he said he usually spends Sunday at his boyfriend's place, she invited both of us. And we said we'd go.

I'd never been to the church, so I looked them up online.  And i said it was a Southern Baptist denomination, which threw up a whole HOST of red flags.  And the church I grew up was not as Right-Wing, evangelical as the Southern Baptist, but things there were very formal, and staid, and judgmental, and that contributed to my leaving.

So I waw not expecting too much out of it.  However, when we got there, it was like the opposite of what expected!  They had a band on stage of 4 guitars and a drummer.  While we were waiting for the service to start, like 6 people, including the pastor came over, shook our hands and welcomed us.  And at least two people did after the service.  And it was an opening, fun, interesting time.  I even paid attention to the sermon and had no problems staying awake.  And the entire service took less than an hour!  I did have fun.  And I would go again, if Cedrik and I want to get up another Sunday morning and go.

After the service, Cedrik and I went to KFC for lunch, and then returned home here.  I started some laundry (doing a total of three loads, that Cedirk folded because he enjoys folding clothes.) and we decided to take a walk.   As we started out, Cedrik started telling me something I was doing that was "pushing him away".  I listened to him and then told him all about something he's going that was "pushing me away" (the lack of concern about his punctuality).  And we argued (although civilly I'd say) for a good chunk of the walk.  He then noticed a bench put out by a local business and suggested we sit there.  And we did and talked more, more calmly and reasonably.  And I thought we had worked through a good portion of our mutual issues.

Cedrik has a friend here in town he's known for years.   When we started home, he said he wanted to go visit him, just to get a different opinion on things, which sounded reasonable to me. So I walked him close to Carlos' house and then came back here myself.

While I waited for Cedrik to return I finally started watching The Godfather. Yeah, I know, I am way behind the times.  I got about halfway through it when Cedrik returned.   He had a great talk with Carlos and we had both calmed down and stood in the Kithcen and basically made up and gotten things resolved.  Then, as he had requested, he washed the dishes I had.   I HATE doing dishes, that's why I'm GLAD I have a dishwasher now.   So when he asked to do the dishes earlier, I told him I was just gonna sit in the living room and let him go to town.  However, when it came time, and despite the hate I have for dishes, I agreed to dry them.  The best part was, we got to stand there and talk and chat and spend time together while doing the dishes.

After this we FINALLY played that game of chest we had been talking about playing.  He said he was going to "kick my ass in chess", and while he DID win, it was close and not an ass kissing, so there is that.   After this, we were tired, so we went to bed.

Monday morning, we awoke and played a bit, but there was no bedtimesexxyfun.  Not at that point. I went to Rutters and got coffee and breakfast. I ate before he even made it downstairs and did a lot of reading of my book.  He came down and ate and then went back upstairs to shower.  After his showering, he brought some of his stuff downstairs....while wearing only his underwear.  Naturally, this lead to another full round of bedtimesexxyfun...in my bed...that he had made beforehand.

Making the bed, doing dishes, folding clothes, he can cook...he makes such a good lil housewife. :)

After this, we went to Wal-Mart to get something, and then McDonald's for a late lunch.  And then home, where we Nair-ed his head (yeah, he likes his head bald.  And despite my obvious love for hairthings a hot and sexy bald Black man is pretty damn sexy too...hence Cedrik).  And with that being done he set about organizing his backpacks, and bags and other things he has here: getting rid of things he doesn't really need and putting things in places more economically.  This took a while, but honestly, not as long as I thought.  And it was s job well done.

And so after this, I took him home, and came back here and updated this.

Despite the argument, I'd have to say this was a wonderful weekend, I quite enjoyed it, talking with Cedrik, and discovering the new surprisingly fun and interesting church and all that.

 So, this past weekend...

After work Saturday, I picked up Cedrik and we went to my friend Michelle's.  There, he and I used her LARGE, two headed shower to shower up and then the three of us headed out for supper and then to a local high school where we watched the play (as Michelle and I did pretty much every year until COVID hit).  Afterwards, and after dropping Michelle off back at her place, Cedrik and I came back to my place.

We laid in bed, cuddled, talked, had some bedtimesexxyfun and then went to sleep.  Getting up Sunday morning, we had breakfast from Rutters and hung out a bit and then, without even showering, we threw on other clothes and headed to Chambersburg to have lunch at Rosalies!  It was SO MUCH food, we both of us left with leftovers!  We stopped by Target and 5 Below, Dollar Store and Goodwill and then came home.

Once here, we did some laundry, had leftovers, cuddled on the sofa a bit. We showered (separately) and later in the I went to bed.  He had his aunt pick him up on the way home from work.  We had had a disagreement, and that was the main reason, but also, I had been stressed all weekend about what as happening Monday and Tuesday too.  And it was better for him to already be home before those days arrived.

Monday morning, I got up early (ugh), got my coffee and breakfast from Rutters and the waited.  About 8am, three people showed up to replace my doors.  Since I've owned the house (for 15.5 years) I've had ill-fitting, drafty, ancient doors.  And I finally got the front door, back door and balcony door removed, as well as storm doors on the front and back doors.  It took them two days to get everything done, but man they look good.  And I don't detect any drafts either!  So, yay for that!

Wednesday morning I had to go to work, but not FOR work.  I had training.  Like every year, it wasn't very interesting, but that wasn't the fault of the instructors, it was the subject matter.  After that, I stopped on the way home to get my Alegra-D from Wal-Greens and the got some supplies at the grocery store.   Coming home, I just hung out here doing pretty much nothing.  I did stumble upon, on Roku, The Scarecrow and Mrs. King tv series from the early 70s.  I watched an episode or two. I liked it back when it aired.  It seemed a bit cheesy now, and I'm sure it was then, but it didn't seem so back in the day.

So I went to bed early cause I had to get up early again on Thursday, and again, not for work.  I had a retina appointment to get a shot in my eyeball.  Fun day that.  The shot itself was totally painless I had no idea he actually gave it to me.  But there was a LONG wait before hand, and that was irritating.

Afterwards, Mom took me to Sheetz for my donut and coffee (where I ran into a surprise visit from an ex-client at work...good to know he's doing well), we mailed some bills I had, stopped by Liberty to get my tax packet, and then came back to the house.  She checked out the new doors (liked them), took the some things back she had loaned me and then left.  The rest of the day I just relaxed around the house.

And then today I had to get up to get ready for work.  Ugh.

So this was my past weekend (if weekends run from Saturdays through Thursdays).

 SO....

My weekend.  Well, it started, let's say, Thursday night. After work, I had a Cut-N-Color, and then I was supposed to hang out with Cedrik overnight, but that part unfortunately didn't happen.  I came home, hung around here on the computer and watching TV and stuff.  Nothing big.

Since most of my weekend would not be fun, I decided to take off Friday to have a good day.  I slept in a bit then headed out to Hagerstown.  I got gas, got my cards for the months of April and May, stopped by Ollies where I bought a few things, then went by work to get the two subs I had ordered (they're made by a ladies auxiliary to some local fire hall, and DAMN they're delicious! And they're probably the only thing that would get me to work on a day I took off!).  I then drove to mom's place and gave her one of the subs.  I usually order two, one to eat for lunch on Friday and then one to eat for lunch on Saturday.  But as I wasn't going to be there either day, I gave one to mom for her and Howard to eat.  Then I came home and chowed down on the other one!  And, as usual, it was delicious!

Friday afternoon and evening I just relaxed, binged some things on TV and putzed around on my computer.  I was an altogether enjoyable day.

Saturday started my "Horribilis volutpat verstibulum".  I had a colonoscopy scheduled Monday morning.  I had one scheduled back in January, but after the prep and a day of fasting, I wasn't cleaned out enough so we rescheduled.   So this time, they gave me different prep and had me fast for TWO days.  And that was Saturday and Sunday (and hence why I took off Saturday from work).  So, over those to days, my intake was water and ice, ginger ale, some chicken broth, orange jello, a few lemon-lime jello cups and that was it.  Saturday was worse than Sunday, I guess after Saturday my body got used to not getting food and didn't demand it as much.

I didn't do much of anything, all day: read my books, putzed around on my phone, watched TV, played around on the computer, and tried not to think about food.

Sunday...well more of the same, although today I had a mug of tea and later coffee (with no creamer of course) in addition to all the other stuff.  THEN, at 530 I had to take an anti-nausea pill (always a positive thing), and an hour later, start on the new prep.  A 4 liter jug of the crap.  I had to drink 8 oz of it every 15 minutes.  I was supposed to take me 4 hours.  I think I got it all done in 4 hours and 15 minutes.  And after two hours, there was no sign of it working.  I was slightly worried until...well until it DID start working.  I think I was on the toilet twice before going to bed.  And yeah, it was working.

Then, about 230 I woke up and had to go.  And then four more times that morning before mom picked me up for a trip to the hospital.  And then once AT the hospital.  But I didn't think it had cleared me out like it was supposed to.  Nurse Steve said as a diabetic, my stomach doesn't empty as well as it should and that could ahve something to do with why it wasn't emptying as well as the first colonoscopy I had four years ago.   And yeah, that could have been it.  So Nurse Steve had to give me two enemas.  Boy, that was fun.  Then the doctor looked at the results and said we could go.   So they hooked me up and wheeled me in.

After talking a bit with the staff in there, waiting on the doc, the anesthesiologist said she was giving me the good stuff.  She pushed it into the IV and I laid there, thinking, oh, I'm still awake.  I'm not tired.  I wonder if she gave me enough.  I hope she-

-And then I'm waking up back in the prep room.  Another very nice nurse was asking how I was and offering me ginger ale and graham crackers.  And about 45 minutes had passed.   They said they hadn't found anything (unlike the two polyps they found 4 years ago) and once I was all put back together, mom brought me home.

I was pretty much fine, except for some short term memory loss and a bit of dizziness, but still she insisted on making me toast and tea.   And after talking a bit, she saw I was fine and so she left.   She returned in the afternoon with some homemade chicken noodle soup, chicken salad and snickerdoodle cookies.  She is such a saint!

I spent the rest of the day pretty much just recovering.  I watched a miniseries on Ben Franklin and then one on Leonardo da Vinci.   I do love documentaries.   And I did little else, which I suppose is exactly what I was supposed to be doing.

Tuesday I had a dentist appointment, so I got up, got my coffee from Rutters (first coffee from there since Friday AND with creamer) had breakfast, read my book, showered and shaved and then went to the dentist for a cleaning.  Afterwards I headed off for the post office, to get a Passport photo taken.  And then to Wal-Mart for a stapler (since I cannot seem to locate the one I had here).  Afterwards, I called in a order for sweet and sour chicken to a Chinese place, ate it and then, since the stuff I had ordered from Amazon arrived, I put in the DVD for Salem's Lot, the 1979 tv miniseries and am now currently watching it.  (it's not much right now, but I assure back in the 80s when I caught it in reruns it was hella frightening!)

I suppose for the rest of today I'll continue to do nothing, to recover, and then go to bed a bit early cause it's back to work tomorrow, after a 5 day minivacation.

So, let's talk about this weekend.

After work on Saturday, I picked up Cedrik and we came back here.  Since it had been a week, he and I almost immediately had some bedtimesexxyfun.  Following this and showering together, I made us pasta (regular sauce for me, alfredo sauce for him, since he has issues with tomato sauces), meatballs, and garlic bread.  And after this, we watched some TV and then went bed for some cuddles and sleep.

Sometime around 2, I got up to use the bathroom and then went back to bed and could not get to sleep.  My mind NOT stop.  I kept thinking of all the shit that's coming down the pike, politically and otherwise, and how it fucking sucks that I actually finally a find a man I love who loves me back just when the world is going to hell.  I worried and worried and worried.  Finally, about 2:20 or so, I just went downstairs to the recliner.  Sometimes, when I like this, getting out of bed for a bit can help.  It kinda did this time.
After a bit of time downstairs, i went back up, got into bed and immediately cuddled up against him.  And I did drift off.  But the rest of the night (er, morning), was kinda fitful when it came to sleep.

We got up in the morning, went for groceries and I stopped and got coffee from Rutters.  When we got back,  I drank my coffee we ate our donuts and we hung out a bit more on the sofa. We had made plans and later, in the early afternoon, after again, showering and getting ready, we headed out.  We drove 1.5 hours, roughly, towards Hershey PA-ish, to my cousin Tracy's house.

I've already introduced mom to Cedrik, I decided to was time to introduce him to my favorite cousin Tracy.  I had called her the week before to make sure it was okay if we came to visit.  She was excited to "finally" meet someone I was dating.   She and her son Morgan (10 yrs old) would welcome me.

Cedrik and I got there and were warmly welcomed by Tracy.  Morgan was a bit shy initially, but he warmed up to both of us (well, he's always been warm and open and talkative with me, but I think Cedrik initially threw him for a loop.  But he was fine).  That is until one of his friend rang the doorbell for him to play.  SO he put on some sneakers, and out he went.

Cedrik and I were there a little over two hours and had a great time talking with Tracy.  And she was so welcoming and accepting of us both, which I just as I knew she'd be.

When we left, getting onto the Turnpike, I stupidly made a wrong turn, going towards Philly instead of Pittsburgh when Pittsburgh is the way we should have been going.  So we have to to the next exit, which was almost double the distance we would have gone had I gone the correct way.  So, according to Cedrik's GPS, I added nearly two hours to the travels.  Wonderful.  At the time I was SO PISSED at myself for being so stupid.  But as time went on, and especially today when we talked about it, it became funny and we laughed about it.

Upon getting home (FINALLY) we watching some tv and hung out on the couch to relax.  then we went to bed, cuddled some and then had more relaxing bedtimesexxyfun (well, we were really relaxed AFTER the bedtimsexxyfun).  And then to sleep.

I woke up Monday a bit before him and woke him up with some more bedtimesexxyfun.  Following this, we went to Rutters, me for coffee, him for a breakfast burrito.  After this, he said he needed to go visit a friend of his here in town.  Cedrik had borrowed some money from him and wanted to go return it.  I had laundry to do, so off he went and I did laundry.   When he returned, he shocked me by mentioning a threeway with this guy he met.

I wasn't shocked about the threeway, we had discussed his in general terms already.  But I was shocked by the suddenness of it all.  However, when he showed me the guy's profile online, it was a guy I had chatted with late last year but which petered out and went nowhere.  So we arranged for him to stop by and we had some menage a' trotimesexxyfun.  It was fun and a blast...been a while since I was in a threesome.

Following this, with the laundry done, I folded it and we showered (separately) and got ready and headed out.   Today was Mom's birthday and Howard was taking her to the Copper Kettle for Prime Rib.  He invited Cedrik and I because "you're family".  So we went, with me chauffeuring them there.  And we all got the Prime Rib and ohmiGOD it was SOOO delicious!  Cedrik not really one for steak, but even HE said how good it was and gobbled it all down.

I tried to give Howard some money for Cedrik and my meals, but he refused.  And when they brought the desserts around, Howard said mom could have a pieced of cake, for her birthday, with four forks so we all could eat some.  Mom chose the orange dreamsicle cake, and when they brought it, the restaurant, on their own, put a lil candle on it and had it lit.  Howard and I sang mom happy birthday, quietly, because neither of us can sing.  Cedrik was out smoking.  When he returned, he still had his part of the cake there, but we told him him he missed singing to mom. (he had said at my house that since he had no gift for her, he could sing her happy birthday).  And so he DID sing it to her, much much better than Howard and I cause Cedrik is talented and has sung in choirs and musical theater back in high school ad college.    So following all this, I dropped mom and Howard off and then Cedrik and I drove to the car wash since Theo was dirty filthy (having not been washed since November).

The original plan was for Cedrik to spend the night and then me to drop him off at home on my way to work. But he said, he'd really prefer to go back tonight, if I didn't care.  I was a bit disappointed, as I was looking forward to sleeping next to him again.  But it was fine.  I had had two night with him, and a wonderful weekend in total because of him, so yeah, I could take him back tonight.   We stopped by the house to pick up his stuff and I took him back.  Then I came back here, put he I Love Lucy channel on the Pluto Channel had the Ricardos and the Mertzs traipsing through Europe on in the background as I type this.

And that was my weekend.

So let's talk about the weekend.

I took Saturday off.    So after work on Friday, I picked up Cedrik, and off we went to West By God Virginia...but just barely.  Just across the Potomac to Shepardstown, where we ate at the Blue Moon Cafe,  A delicious meal was had by both of us.  And honestly since my appetite's not what it used to be (because of the Ozempic), Ced ended up eating two of my six slices of quesadilla.

Following this, on the drive home, he made clear to me that he wanted me to jump him, not only in the car right then, but even back at the restaurant.  Which he didn't really have to tell me, cause I could see it in his face while we were eating.   And I felt the same way.  Also, on the drive home, I tried to maintain the speed limit, with his help, as that's not an easy thing to do being a leadfoot that I am.   And I sang my fool head off too, which made him laugh, cause even though I can't sing, that doesn't mean I WILL NOT sing, ya know?

We got home and went immediately to bed for some frankly awesome bedtimesexxyfun.   And then we went to sleep (sleeping with him is great, he's such a cuddlebunny....but I digress....)

The next morning, we got up a little later than usual, cause, ya know, we were tired and possibly worn out. We went to Rutters and got us some breakfast and then came home and enjoyed it.   Following this, for reasons I don't recall, he decided to give me an amateur pedicure.  Frankly, he did a great job, it was very relaxing.  And we got to chat more while doing so.   Afterward he wanted me to do his feet, and I tried, honestly, I did, but I couldn't do it as well as he had...he had done it before after all.  But honestly, he did most of his feet.  Then, after this, he dressed and left to visit a friend of his in town for alittle bit.

While he was gone, I showered, I updated my checkbook and paid some bills, getting them ready to be mailed.  And I putzed around online for a bit.  When he returned he showered and got ready.  We both 'dressed up' bit.  I mean, nothing real fancy; collared shirts instead of tshirts, nice jackets instead of hoodies, etc.   We were going to Longhorn Steakhouse to eat and he wanted us a lil 'dressed up'.

So off we went.  Getting there before 5 pm, we STILL had a 35 minute wait.  I hate waiting to eat, cause there is SO MANY restaurants to eat, but he said it wasn't too long.  And he had a giftcard he wanted to use.  So we waited. although we did go to a Michel's store and I bought some candles.  But we made it back before I was texted, telling us the reservation was ready.

The meal was, as always delectable.  I got a steak and fries, he got chicken and ribs with fries.  And we both had big salads and bread.  I had trouble eating all of it, but I did.  He could only about half of his (which IS unusual as he ALWAYS eats do much.  Like he says, "I'm a fat boy in a skinny body").

After the meal we went to Ollies, and bought a few things, just wandered around really.   Then we headed out, for the second reason Cedrik wanted to 'dress up' a bit: we drove to mom's cottage so she (and Howard) could meet Cedrik and vice versa.

We were there maybe 15 minutes, perhaps a bit longer.  But it seemed to go well.  We chatted (well mom and I did, like always.  Howard and Cedrik said a little, but it was mainly her and I).  When I introduced them, I did so as "Mom, this is Cedrik.  Cedrik, this is mom." he said, "Hi mom!" and leaned in for a hug.  And when we left, he hugger her again and said, "Bye mom."   He shook Howards hand and leaned in for a bro-hug and called him by name.

I though it was all so cute.  I hope mom's okay with it, him hugging her and calling her mom.   I guess I'll find out tomorrow when she takes me to my retina appointment.

We came back home and watched some TV, but were tired, so we went to bed, and had more bedtimesexxyfun.   Afterwards, he had this coughing fit (he's had a cough for a lil while, doctor said it  was a bacterial infection and put him on antibiotics.)  I've never seen him, or anyone, cough like that.  For like a half hour, he sat on the toilet, coughing up phlegm into toilet paper or the trash can.  And blowing his nose, did that so much he had a minor nose bleed.  But thankfully, after about a half hour, he calmed down and we went back to bed.

And then, less than an hour later, I woke up with my guts roiling and feeling as if diarrhea was gonna be running out my ass right that moment.  I made it up to the toilet in time, but that was the first of three times, I made it to the toilet.  And oh my GOD it reeked.  I sprayed, but...well thank God Cedrik was in the bedroom asleep.

So anyway, after that, I didn't sleep well, cause after like 20 to 40 minutes of sleep, I would wake up cause I was afraid I'd start pooping again.   Not great night's sleep...but there was some cuddling with Cedrik, so that was okay.

I got up and decided to pass on Rutters coffee with my stomach the way it was.  So I made a cup of tea and dry toast and after eating that my stomach felt better.  Cedrik had the leftover food from Saturday for and early lunch (he had actually gotten up about 5 am to use to bathroom and then decided to have a bowl of Fruity Pebbles, so that was his breakfast) and we chatted.  After this, he went up stairs because he wanted to Nair himself again.  Yep, he uses it on his head to make it bald and he uses it....elsewhere.  Nuff said.   I helped him clean it off, cause, ya know, he can't see the back of his head and all that.  And then he showered and packed up and I took him home.

It was, we both agreed, a fantastic evening....despite the coughing fit and my roiling guts.  And we're both looking forward to doing it again.

Reschedule, um, it must be a mistake....

So I might have mentioned I had a colonoscopy today.

Meh....not so much.

I did what I was supposed to. The day before no solid foods.  The only things I had were tea, orange jello, chicken broth, ginger ale and water.  All day long.  And then at 6pm, as ordered,  I drank the first bottle of the prep and had the five 8 ounce glasses of water.  And nothing happened...until 9 pm.  And then again at 10 pm.  And then nothing, even after I went to bed.  But I got up about 2am, and used the toilet again.   Then at 4pm, I got up and drank the second bottle, and used the bathroom again at 420, 550 and then 615.
Mom was coming to get me at 630am for my 655 appointment.  And at the hospital, while waiting to be called back, I tried to used the bathroom again because, without being too graphic, it was not running clear yet.  Mushy yes, but clear no.  And I knew from my first one in 2021 it had to be clear.

So they took me back into the prep room and got me changed out of my clothes and into the gown.  Then they started asking me questions.  And we, as the nurse said, "got personal with my poop."  We discussed it and she said it doesn't sound like it's open enough and if the doctor can't see, there is a risk of perforation or missing polyps.  She said it didn't sound like even an enema there would help.  So, together, we decided to just reschedule with a different kind of prep stuff, which will hopefully work.   She said, it doesn't happen a lot, maybe three times a week, but it's not uncommon that the prep doesn't work.

So, I got dressed and went out to the waiting room to a very surprised mom and explained things.  And then happily came home where I immediately had oatmeal and tea.  And for lunch (at 1110, cause I was just so freakin hungry), I ordered dominos and had some boneless chicken nuggets and a pasta bowl...and I devoured them all.

But the point is, despite all I did, sometime later this year, I'll have to do it all again.  Starving myself for an entire day, getting up at an unGodly hour, sitting way too long too many times on the toilet and all that.

Oh the joys of getting older.

Sometimes I feel like a chicken, pecking my way through the trees.....

So maybe a lil story to make you smile?

This morning, after getting groceries, I pulled up the alley to park next to my back porch and unload, as I always do.

The neighbors on the other side of the alley have a fenced in yard with a wrought iron gate a open onto some grass next to the alleyway.  They also have a coop and four or five chickens in there which they sometimes let out to walk the yard.

So anyway, I turned into the alley and there in the grass in front of their gate, was a chicken.  He was pecking at the ground, but could have easily walked out into the alley....and maybe gotten hit by a car?  So I stopped the car, put my blinkers on and got the bags out of the trunk onto my porch (as I do every Sunday), while keeping an eye on the chicken who just kept pecking at the grass.

I opened the gate and then stood on the other side of the chicken and kinda waved my hands towards to gate saying, "come on, buddy, go on inside.  Right inside the gate there.  You don't wanna be out here man."  And I walked slowly towards the chicken.  It just stood there.

Then, suddenly, it ran towards me, looking like, to me, like it was gonna peck my foot!  I jumped back (and probably shouted a lil) and the damn bird ran right past me...and under my car.  I was like, "no no no, don't go there!" but it listened to me as well as it had before.  I could bend over and look under that car and saw that it was right next to the inside of the driver's side back tire.  And it didn't look like it was moving.

I momentarily thought of moving the car forward some, but quickly threw that aside, as I could run over the damn thing.  And if I didn't, it could run somewhere else before I could get park the car and get out to look where it was.  So the only thing to do was knock on the door and tell the neighbors.

Now it's early Sunday morning, so i wasn't sure if they'd be up.  Luckily, after I knocked, she came to the door, but didn't open all the way, nor do more than stick her head out. I told her was was going on and she said, "Okay, I'll send him out."

I went back to my car and made sure the bird was still there.  Then TR came out.  We were both laughing.  He said he has no idea how it could have gotten out, of course, I didn't either.   He looked under the car, saw him and called for it...which the bird entirely ignored.   So he went and got some birdfeed in a cup.  He knelt, shook the cup and called for the bird.  Nothing.  He dropped some food right outside the car shook it some more, called for the bird.  Nothing.

I suggested getting a broom and maybe pushing him out with that.  So TR went and got one.  And used it to slowly push the bird out, back towards me.  I told him it was out.  He came back behind the car with me and started to used the broom to try to push the bird back towards the gate across the alley.  The bird was having none of it, not moving.

Then, suddenly, it jumped OVER the broom, ran between his legs and went between my house a small storage box I have the lawn mower in.  We both threw our hands up laughing.  He suggested I park my car to get it out of the alley, maybe that's why the bird doesn't want to go back that way, who knows.  So I do.  As I'm doing that, I later find out, TR used the broom to get the bird out, but it ran further AWAY from the alley and under one of the two cars parked there.   TR was saying a few choice words.

I took the groceries inside and got my own broom. When I came out I told him maybe I could help with that, but he was walking between the cars and he was holding the chicken.  I said, "Oh you got him!"  and he said, "I chased him out into the grass there and with nothing to hide under, they just squat down and sit there and try to be invisible or something.  So it was easy to pick him."

He thanked me for my held and we laughed as I came back in the house.

And I realized something:  I am NOT a chicken wrangler, that's for sure!

Stop that cursed jury, cried the attendant and the nurse....

So this past week I had jury duty.

It's the third time I had jury selection duty, and the fourth jury I was on.   Unlike the previous three (two when I was in college, one 7 years ago) this was a civil, not criminal trial.  And I was chosen as an alternate, not an actual juror.  I was in fact, the fourth alternate.  Which means, four of the twelve actual jurors would have to get sick/have an emergency/become unavailable for me to get to deliberate.
What a waste of my time.

In fact the whole trial was a waste, and boring.

A couple was suing a water treatment/well company.   The gist of it was, they contracted the company to come out and test the water.  The company sent someone out, he got the samples, did a field test of the water, and then sent them off to a lab for analysis.  When the results came back 8 days later, he sent them to the couple a long with his recommendations on how to correct the several problems, and sent an estimate.

And the couple did....nothing.   Apparently, the guy, who had 'extensive construction and renovation experience' decided he would do it all himself cheaper.  But when he got into it, it turns out there was a LOT more involved in the process.  And now, 5 years later, they STILL haven't made the corrections the company guy recommended.

But they were suing the guy and the company because if they had told the couple all the other problems before hand they would not have bought the house, nor incurred all the expenses.  They were suing for around $84000!

But they never told the company employee OR the company to look at anything else.  just to take the samples.  Not to check the well, not to check the flow capacity of the well, not anything other than what the employee tested for.  And they didn't take his recommendations ANYWAY!

All throw the 2.5 days, I'm sitting there thinking, well this is dumb.  There is clearly no negligence on the part of the defendants.  I kept an open mind, waiting for the couple to present something that changed that perception.  But they never did.  And when the plaintiffs rested, I was shocked.  They had made no case.  At the point in time, the defense, to my mind, didn't have to say a word, they could have rested too.  But of course, they didn't know that.  And I didn't know how the other jurors felt either.  So they did have to put on a case.

And their case, their lawyer, were frankly monumentally better than the plaintiffs'.   But the case too, was monumentally better towards the defendants.

So after closing arguments and the judge's instructions, he sent to jury back to the jury room, keeping the alternates in the courtroom.  Then, he excused myself and alternate #3, saying to stay by our phones in case he needed to call us back to the courthouse.  And we were still under the sequestration rules.  When all was done, he would call us both and tell us the verdict and release us from service.  So the two of us got to leave after about two hours and go home.  That was nice.  I felt bad for the other two alternates, cause they had to stay there and wait until a verdict was rendered in case they needed to replace one or two of the jurors.

It was only an hour and a half later that the judge himself called me.  He told me it was over, the jury had found for the defendant, which is exactly how I would have found.  And they did it quickly too.

So in the end, everything came out the way I would have voted, and justice was served.  But damn, three days of my life spent in boredom.  Ah, well, I did my civic duty (that's twice this month, as I voted and sent it in earlier in October too) and now I'm free from being called for a jury for three yet.

SO, how was my Thanksgiving holiday weekend?  Why thanks for asking. Here we go.

Wednesday, the county closed at 1pm.  My co-worker Rachel agreed to work the remaining 3 hours since she was already working Thanksgiving and the day after, both holidays.

I left work and went to the tire place. I had made an appointment the day before the get two tires replaced.  And I did...and damn they were expensive!   After that I spent the night here at the house just relaxing and doing nothing.

Thursday, I got up and watched all the Bob's Burgers Thanksgiving episodes while putzing around on the computer and drinking my coffee.   I did shower, but not shave, and then left for mom's, getting there about 11:30.  We ate at noonish. And, as always, it was delicious!   Turkey, stuffing, mashed taters, gravy, sweet taters, corn and cherry pie for dessert.  She also had sour kraut and oysters, but only she and Howard ate those, as I don't like either of those.  Then, after cleaning the table, we sat around an chatted until about 2, when I got my leftovers and came home.

Getting here I putzed around online a bit more, and then settled in to do my Christmas Cards while  watching the end of the Packers-Lions game and all of the Cowboys decimation of the Washington team (the Commanders is a stupid name and I try not to use it).    It took me 4 hours and 15 minutes but I got them all filled out, in the envelopes, address, stamped and return address stickers on.  After that, the last game was on, but I wasn't in any mood to watch the Niners dominated anyone, even the Seahawks.  So about halftime I think I turned it off, went to bed, read some and was on my phone before going to sleep.

Friday, for some reason, I woke up early, like before 7 and couldn't get back to sleep.   So I got on my phone for a bit.  And then I made contact with a fuckbuddy and soon thereafter, he was here for some bedtimesexxyfun.   After he left, I putzed around the house not doing too much of anything really, until
Mom came in. Despite having a real bad knee and getting it replaced tomorrow, she came in and "helped" me decorate the Christmas tree.  It took about an hour to get everything I wanted done, and it was great to hang out with her and have her help, as always.

Afterwards the Jets-Dolphins game came on mid-afternoon.  The first ever game on Black Friday.  Hopefully, it's a regular occurance.   After that I did pretty much what I did all day: nothing.  Did order some wings from Dominos and devoured them.   But that was really it.

Saturday I got up and got to work.  It was a thankfully uneventful day, so I go caught up on a lot of paperwork I needed to.   Upon leaving work I just came home because Saturday was also my birthday,  ! turned 56.  I watched some crap on TV, and then started to actually watch Good Burger 2.  No seriously I did.  I had enjoyed All That back in the 90s (even though I was like 30 when I was watching Saturday Nights before going out to the gar bar), and so I wanted to check this out.  It was fine.  I don't even know that it was a 'good' movie.  But considering what it was, what it was based on, it was fine.  And I did literally laugh out loud a few times.

But I didn't watch it all the through in one setting, because I got a text from another fuckbuddy, and so he came over shortly and we had some bedtimesexxytfun!  However, after he left, I did finish it.  And then eventually I did go to bed.

Oh also, can't believe I forgot!  Before Good Burger 2 I watched the first of the Doctor Who 60th Anniversary specials!  With Russell T Davies writing and David Tennent and the Doctor, and thank GOD they're both back.  This was THE best episode I have seen since they left the series back in...what, 2010?  2011?   I don't know but it's been a LONG time!  And then after this, my friend FDot and I spent about an hour and a half on the phone, talking about many things, including Doctor Who!

Sunday morning, I woke up about 530 with stomach cramps and had to use the toilet.  I blame it on my cleaning up the Thanksgiving leftovers Saturday night for supper.  But I couldn't get back to sleep afterwards.  So after laying in bed on my phone for awhile, I got up, dressed, and got groceries, then had breakfast, drank my coffee and read some.   Also, at the grocery store, I got myself a slice of that layered rainbow cake these sell there, for a late birthday cake thing.  Ate it after lunch and supper.

For lunch I ordered a Big Boy Sub from Toledo's (YUM) and then settled in the watch some football.  I had run the dishwasher Saturday night, this Sunday then was laundry day.  And I did a load of clothes.  While watching football tho, I was contacted by yet ANOTHER fuckbuddy, who later came over for some bedtimesexxyfun.  Afterwards, I just watched football, paid some bills, got some cards ready to mail and did little else.

Monday morning, for whatever reason I got up at 630 (i am NOT a morning person and I hate that I do this on my days off).   I got my coffee from Rutters and when I had finished, I went to the Post Office, to Advance Auto for some new wiper blades. And even though he wasn't the one to help me, that amazingly HOT guy with the big bubble butt was still working there.  Damn, his ass is SO FINE.

Anyhow, after this I went to Wal-Mart for a few things, stopped at AC&T for a sub for supper, came home and started a load of sheets in the laundry.    For lunch I made pasta, and spent the afternoon watching TV or on my phone or laptop.

Also, I called mom with some phone numbers to give to Howard.   She's having her knee replaced tomorrow morning, and will spend a night in the hospital, but Howard will stay there.  If everything goes well, I'll just swing by after work.  But I wanted Howard to have some work numbers in case there's complication or whatever (God forbid), and he can call me.

Also, yesterday mom made some chocolate chips cookies, but she forgot to put something in them and they look like, according to her, "pancakes".  There's too many for her and Howard to eat alone, so on their travels today, they brought a bag into me.  And they taste fine, even if they don't look like her cookies usually look.

So for supper I had half of the sub, and now I on the laptop waiting for Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer to come on at 8pm.  Then I might go to bed a bit early, cause I am feeling tired, and it's work again tomorrow.

And that, friends, is how the Thanksgiving Holiday went.

This week looks to be busy as I work all week, Thursday and Friday I have to go in early as Rachel's taking off, after work Tuesday I'm going by the hospital to see Mom, Wednesday after work I'm to see yet, yet ANOTHER fuckbuddy for some fun, and Thursday after work I have a Cut N Color.   Whew.

And some pics from the weekend:
