Today, had a busy morning with mom: dropped the car off at the mechanic, got a shot in my eyeball, went to Sam's, Ollies, Hallmark at the Mall, and then ate lunch at Red Lobster.  On the trip, I purchased some books (surprising, I know).

Today we travel by 19 years to July of 2004, and Marvel's Exiles #46.

The beginning of the series was fantastic, as was the premise.  As it went along, and changed writers and artist, it became shaky and never reached the heights it had at the start.   But it was still a fun comic.

 Anniversary Avengers

We now have the next Avenger to join the team, The Forgotten One aka Gilgamesh aka Hero.  He was a member of the Eternals who had been around on Earth for millenia.   Last post I mentioned the nadir of the Avengers when Cap assembled a motley group of heroes, including Mr. Fantastic and Invisible Woman (see last post).  Cap also found Gilgamesh wandering around and brought him onto the team.  

Thankfully, that lineup did not last very long, and Gilgamesh went back to his wanderings.  

In the Marvel Cinematic Universe, he was seen in the movie Eternals, and was played by Don Lee.

Johnny Thunder was a hero in the Golden Age of World War II.  He has command of a magic thunderbolt.  As he grew into his later years, demetia took hold.  He actually passed the thunderbolt onto a young Black teen who had become his friend in the home Johnny was in.  This was Jakeem Williams, who later took the name Jakeem Thunder and became a hero, in his own right.  This pic is of an older Jakeem Thunder, about 20, with the Thunderbolt behind him.
