Visitor, they don't bother me, no they don't bother me.....

Today was my day of rest.

This past week was the Week Of The FDot Visit!  YAY!

I have been saying, for years, FDot should come to visit me here.  FDot has said, for years, that he would come sometime.  And this past week, was that time.  And was a busy, fun time it was!

He arrived Sunday last afternoon.  When he got here, after we chatted a bit, we walked to Waynesburger to get supper.  And then we came back here and hung out and chatted and stuff until time for bed.

The next day, we got up 830ish, and then after coffee from Rutters and breakfast from McDonalds, off we went towards the Antietam Battlefield.  We spent several hours there, checking out the entire battlefield (and being shocked at the horror and devastation).  It really is mind boggling all that happened there.

Following that, we wanted to see Harper's Ferry, so we drove through Shepardstown to see that place and, thanks for the GPS, we found Harper's Ferry.  What we didn't realize, was that parking was like three miles or so away from the town itself and you had to take a shuttle bus back.  Which we both agreed we were not interested in doing.  So instead we headed for home.

But to do so, we actually had to go from West Virginia, drive into Virginia for a very short time, and then back into Maryland.  And then we went to Hagerstown so he could eat at Freddie's Subs "The Best Subs In Town".  And they were.  Yummy.

Following this, I took him to High Rock, so he could see the entire valley, a spectacular view.  And then I decided, as a reward for all we did, we could go to the Twin Kiss in Quincy and have some ice cream.

Following this, we just returned home For supper, since we had eaten kinda late, we just walked to Rutters and got some food from there: me a bowl of soup and pretzel bites, him two bacon wrapped cheddar dogs and pretzel bites.  And since they were showing "The Great War" on PBS, we watched the two hour first episode.  And then, we both retired to our respective rooms for some sleep.

It was a beautiful day, over 80, sunny, cloudless sky, not even a chance of rain.  And then entire week, other than one lil shot of rain, and temps not as high, was just as great.  And oh, I got a sunburn while walking around Antietam, burnt on my forehead, back of my neck, my face and my lower arms.

Inside of the observation tower, that's FDot's arm waving.  I could not join him as my fear of heights prevented me from doing so.

Tuesday, once we were up and ready, we headed out, to Rutters for coffee and some breakfast items.  And then we were off to my place of employment for a tour of the place.  Following that, we were off for Frederick MD.

There, after spraying ourselves with sun screen, we walked the length of the Carroll Creek River Walk, and then through the attached Baker Park.  It was a lovely day and a lovely place for a stroll.  Following all this, we walked back through downtown and to my car.  Then we drove to aka Friscos for a meal that was delicious, as they always are.  Following this we returned home where we relaxed and frankly, both of us napped a lil bit, me on the couch, and he in his room.  But after this, we decided to go to FDot's favorite restaurant that he can no longer go to cause there's none around him anymore: Fuddruckers!  Off to Chambersburg we went.  And once we were done, even though it was dark, I drove him through Chambersburg so he could see what was there, and then drove him to Greencastle to show him Derick's apartment building, among other things.  We then came home, watched The Great War and then went to bed.

Wednesday,  once we were ready it was off to Rutters for coffee and some breakfast from McDonalds we were off to Gettysburg.  It had rained in the morning, but by the time we reached Gettysburg, it had stopped and in fact, as the day went on, it warmed up and got all sunny and the clouds went away.  So we had a beautiful day there.

We did the car tour, seeing the whole battlefield from like 4 different sides.  I had done this before, but was quite younger, and this time, it meant more to me and I paid more attention.  It was truly an incredible tour, and breath taking to see the places I'd heard so much about and seen what both sides saw 150 years ago.

When we got back to town, it was about 6 hours after we had left, and we had nothing to eat in the meantime, so we went to Montezuma's and gorged ourselves on Mexican food!  YUM!

Following this, we came home, hung around here, I'm pretty sure we both napped a bit and then watched The Great War before going to bed.

Thursday was our relaxation day.  We got up a bit late, went for lunch at Cafe Del Sol, then went to play a round of miniature golf.  Following that we went to Renfrew, where we took a walk through the property, on the Salty Grimes Trail.  We walked 1.50 miles in 25 minutes.  But unlike my normal walks, this one was over rocky terrain and up and down hills and much more strenuous.  But it was fun too.

After this we came home here and rested again, before it was time to leave for Mama Shockey's.  She had made hog maw for us, because I've talked about it before, and FDot had never had it, so since he was here, he HAD to try some.  Or so I said...I dont think he ever said that.  Although he did say he did like the hog maw, and he ate an entire portion of it, including the skin.  And eating the skin is something that some long time eaters don't do, although mom and I both do.  And for dessert, we also had Mama Shockey's Homemade Cherry Pie!  YUMMY!

After this we came home and rested here, watching some tv before going to bed.

Thursday, we woke late and he packed up and we said goodbye.  We met again at Rutters where I was getting coffee and he was filling up his gas tank.  And then we parted....until the next time we meet.
FDot gassing up!

Also, at some point during the week, we watched Saturday Night Fever (since for some inexplicable reason, FDot, the movie connoisseur, had never seen).  We bought a bag of Gibble's Potato Chips, locally made and cooked, like in olden days, in lard.  We visited Barnes&Noble while in Frederick, where I bought two books.  He stopped in Hershey on his way here and bought me four bags of sugar free candy and got my mom a pleasant little gift.

But all in all an absolutely GREAT week!
