Anniversary Avengers
Today, by John Byrne, Wonder Man! He's quite a....convoluted character. He was imbued with "ionic" energy, which gave him super strength, super toughness, stamina....basically a Superman counterpoint without the flight and vision powers. He started as a bad guy and was nearly killed and put into a 'coma'. He was revived several times for very short periods of time. But finally he was revived for real and joined the team. The convoluted parts are that Ultron stole his "brainwaves" and used them in making the Vision, so they were like....brothers. And his actual brother was the supervillain Grim Reaper. Wonder Man later helped found the West Coast Avengers, and has been a member of both the East and West coast teams over the years.
Wonder Man's secret identity Simon Williams has been cast twice in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, once in the Guardians Of The Galaxy cameo and a different actor has been cast in the upcoming Wonder Man TV series.
