Feel the bile rising from your guilty past...

For some reason, the time change this year has knocked me on my ass. I just can’t seem to get going in the morning, and I have a hard time falling asleep. It happened Sunday and Monday, and then I was an hour late to work on Tuesday (although I just worked 9-5 instead of 8-4 that day).

So I decided after having such a rough monring yesterday that I needed to do something about it. Last night, I took some of the over-the-counter sleeping pills and went to sleep, I think, about 9:30. This would have been good had I gotten a full night’s sleep.

But, at roughly 3:30 in the morning, I woke up with the acid reflux hitting me again. I get that perhaps twice a year. It’s a lovely thing. I wake up from sound sleep cause I can feel what feels like bile rising in my throat.

So I got up, and took some Mylanta. That always helps…but not quickly. And that means that I can’t lay down, cause everytime I lay down even remotely horizontally, even after taking the Mylanta, the bile rises again. And that’s just a horrible feeling and taste.

So, after taking the Mylanta, I had to go to the recliner in my dining room and recline back and sleep there with a blanket. Not terribly comfortable by any stretch. I was drifiting in and out of sleep until 6:00. Then I went back to bed, and could lay down without the negative side effects. But I could only do it for an hour, cause then I had to get back up to get ready for work.

I’d love to take a nap this evening, but I’m afraid if I do, I’ll sleep too long, and then won’t be able to get to sleep tonight.

When I was younger, I had a cast iron stomach: I could eat anything, greasy pizza, spicy Mexican, Tupperware, aluminum and I never got sick. It sucks being old.

I have some stomache thingies for you to try. When I was in my 20's I got this weird stomach bug that lasted about 6 weeks. What worked for me was acidophilus culture, comes in Strawberry Flavor in the fride department of the health food store, WHOLE FOODS etc.

It straightened me out for a few hours at a time until I got rid of that bug.

Now, it also comes in gelcap form at health food store as well. You can also just try plain yogurt.

Im tellin ya, it works!

I take the gelcaps to India every year and it keeps my tummy happy and I never get acid reflux even with all that spicy food!

What are you waiting for? Go!

LOL I hope you get better sleep tonight!

Wow, only twice a year? I go to bed every night with the 150 bottle of Tums next to me.I've gotten so good I can wake up burning like hell, open the bottle, and down three Tums without ever opening my eyes. Then drift off into peaceful sleep.

I know what you mean, I've had trouble sleeping as well. Trouble getting to sleep and waking up. I've got the acid reflux too, but I've got the silent variety which is good in that it doesn't burn, but bad in that it still does damage.

I'm going to try to get up earlier and avoid a nap so that I can get a full nights sleep.

I thank my stars that I don't have many food irritations. No heartburn or acid reflux, oh no.

Instead I get inner ear issues. Let me tell you that it sucks more than anything else does.

Wouldn't wish the vertigo with occasionally attendant vomiting on anyone.

Doesn't happen that often but when it does, whoa!

I've figured out the triggers, my allergies are one of them so I have to stay fairly doped up all season.

Another trigger is weather. When a heavy storm moves in my left ear starts ringing like crazy. That's a first warning btw, time to pop either a 2.5mg prednisone, or a decongestant.
