My birthday, how's my mother, well my dear...

As I mentioned below, it's mom's birthday today. I put her card in the mailbox this morning. After work, I went over just to sing to her...which, considering my singing ability, was probably not a 'happy' birthday wish to her.

She's been retired since last May, but today, two ladies she used to work with came up here (about a half hour drive) and they met her at Applebee's and they bought her lunch. She got 23 birthday cards, and 9 happy birthday phone calls. She was craving an oyster sandwish, so she called a local restaurant, ordered one and picked it up. They gave her a whole meal, but only charged her for the sandwich, since the person who took her order knew her and knew today was her birthday. And when she had finished the meal, her sister and her grand-niece stopped by to wish her a happy birthday...and they brought some oysters. Mom and some members of her family think alike like that sometimes. It's eerie. Oh and thanks to everyone who wished her a happy birthday below. I passed the wishes on and she just laughed, "I don't even KNOW those people" she said, but thanked you anyway, and laughed about it.

At any rate, since St. Patrick's Day has always been her birthday, she's generally gone all out on that day. Today was no different. I got a photo to show you.

You probably can't tell, but she has green shamrock earrings on, a light green shirt, a green pin, the scarf has some green in it, and she's wearing green socks. Oh, and of course the green teddy bear. It was sitting on the stand next to her, she grabbed it when I said I was taking a photo. And she's saying "Happy Birthday to ME!" That 's why she's pointing to herself.

And it seems like she's had a very happy one!

Glad she had such an amazing day. She may not know us but we know her. :-) She is certainly a very special lady to have so many people think of her on her birthday. I don't even KNOW 23 people. :D

Oh - your mom is so cute! And I've never heard of an oyster sandwich. Blech.

Tam - by the time you're Mama Polt's age, maybe you'll know 23 people : ).
