SO......

let me tell you about my weekend.

They were calling for bad weather Saturday: snow, sleet, freezing rain, wind, turning to all rain in the early evening.  I don't mind driving in snow, but I will NOT drive in sleet, ice, etc.   So I decided, instead of working 8am to 4pm, I'd somehow get my ass up to get to work at 4am, do the things that HAVE to be done, and then take leave and come home, hopefully before the weather got to bad.

Went to bed Friday night about 730-8, did not sleep well at all, but did manage to get up at 3am.

Got showered, dressed, coffee at Rutters and made it work by 4.  I got the things done that I had to, took 6 hours comp time, and left at 6am.

Stopped to get some gas and a few groceries on the way home, and was back here and in bed ready to go back to sleep just about the normal time I get up for work: 7-ish.

And go to sleep I did.  Until about 930.  Then I got up, came downstairs, it was snowing, albeit not very hard.  I spent the rest of the day inside (except when I walked over to Rutters to get a sandwich for lunch).  And it did snow, and sleet, but there never was much of it.  I probably didn't need to take off work like I did....but I didn't know that ahead of time.

The rest of the day, I read my book, putzed around on my phone, did two loads of dishes, and paid a bunch of bills.  At one point, I yawned and thought it was about time to go to bed.  Looking at the clock, i saw it was only 6:30!  But since i had been up at 3am, I guess that wasn't surprising.  I did manage to stay up until about 1000 tho.

Sunday morning, I rolled outta be about 830.  Went to Rutters for the coffee and breakfast.  And parts of the alleyways were like a skating rink!  nothing but ice.  Walking back was something of a chore, but I laughed through it all, and didn't fall.

At 11, I went out to mom's.  Saturday, during the storm, she spend the day making vegetable soup, homemade bread, cornbread muffins and a pie.  So since she most of it still there, she had Howard and I over for lunch and that's what we ate.

Afterwards, I mailed all the bills I paid earlier and then stopped by the grocery store to get stuff to make chili.

And make the chili, I did!  Had a bowl and a half with one of mom's cornbread muffins!  Yum-ME!

Also this afternoon, I watched the AFC Championship game between the Tennessee Titans and Kansas City Chiefs.  before the playoffs started I got into a pool at work: everyone kicks in $25 and is given a randomly chosen team. If your team makes the Super Bowl, you win $100.  If they WIN the Super Bowl, you get an additional $100.  And my team is Kansas City!  So only did the team win that I wanted to win, but I also got $100  by them winning!  Yeah.

Course, now I'm sitting here watching the NFC Championship game, it looks like the team I hate the most in football (after the Washington team), the San Francisco 49ers will be going to the Super Bowl against Kansas City.  Blech.  But I still got $100 regardless.

Still got tomorrow off, but that's my weekend so far.
