There's got to be a morning after, if we can hold on through the night......

So, Uncle Polt, how was your election day?

Gee, thanks for asking.

I started watching the returns.  I became SO disgusted.  Disgusted that half this country would look back on the last 4 years and say, "Why yes, I think I WOULD like another 4 years of that, please!"  It nauseated me.  So, about 10:00pm, I shut everything down and went to bed.  Was asleep before 10:30.

I woke up about 1:00 am to use the bathroom. I checked the results on my phone, was still disgusted and attempted to go back to sleep.  But after two hours of tossing and turning, with some short fitful sleep inbetween, I went downstairs to the sofa.  I have an extremely comfortable sofa, and I fell asleep almost right away, sleeping for a good 4 hours or so.

I had taken off work Wednesday, so I didn't have to get up, but I did get awake a little after 7:00am.   The entire rest of Wednesday, I left the house to get the paper on my back porch, take the garbage to the curb in the evening, and walk to Rutters for some supper about 6:00pm.

Otherwise, I didn't even open the blinds to my windows.  I didn't turn the TV on.  I didn't turn my laptop on (until right before going to bed when I had to send a message to my doctor).  I did have my phone on, so I did know what was going on.  But I spent the vast majority of the day on the sofa.  I played a games on my phone.  I read, I think, over 150 pages in my current book. I took one or two very short naps.  I even turned down an request for a gentleman caller.

Despite doing nothing all day, not even showering, I was totally exhausted, emotionally wiped out.  So, around 8:00pm, I went up to bed, and turned out the light to sleep about 10:00pm.

And that was my election day/day after.  How was yours?

POLT
