Two weekends ago, I spent the weekend in NYC. A bunch of Puntabupeeps (my group of online friends who all met through the blog Puntabulous) got together Saturday afternoon for several hours and caught up. It was great to reconnect and meet some spouses and boyfriends and kids.
I was there from Friday - Monday and stayed in an apartment with a few other people. Tam, her daughter Kristin, both from Canada; john eliot from Rhode Island; Michelle M. from San Diego; and for one night, VUBOQ!
Along with FDot, and at one point Adam, the group of us ate at a burger joint, hung out and talked, went to a local grocery store for food, had genuine New York bagels for breakfast, spent an afternoon in the Metropolian Museum Of Art, had my first ride in a Lyft, ate at a different but better burger joint, and saw the most hilarious play I have EVER seen on stage: The Play That Goes Wrong.
It was a lot of fun, even the Amtrak rides weren't that bad. Unfortunately, I didn't take many pics. I look forward to the next time....if there is a next time.
Last week, after work on Saturday, my friend Michelle and I went to eat at Montezuma's where I saw a fuckbuddy was working. We haven't played in a while, but it was nice to see him again. And Michelle agreed he had a nice ass, which he definitely does.
Following this, we went to the Totem Pole and saw the play, "Queen Of Bingo". It's an okay play, has two guys portraying senior sisters at Bingo one night. I've seen it before, and it is, as I said, okay. Paled in comparison to the one I saw in NYC, but still I'm glad I went to see it again.
That Sunday, mom and I went to Shepardstown WV to eat at the Blue Moon cafe. But there was a long wait there. And since we were both hungry, we just ate at The Bavarian Inn there instead. It's a hoity-toity, fancy-shmacy upper class resort: cabins, a pool, and a great buffet brunch on Sundays. Which she and I both got. It was delicious, but it damn well should have been since it cost, with tip, $80 total! Sheesh! Still, I'm glad we did it, if for no other reason than I, for the first, and last time, in my life tasted caviar.
That Thursday and again Saturday at Montezuma's, while eating, the back upper molar on the left side of my mouth, cracked while I was eating. I went to the dentist after work on Tuesday, and he said he couldn't see anything, so he smoothed the filling out a little. But that night while eating, I felt it crack again. So after work Wednesday I went back and after drilling the filling out, the cheek side of the tooth came off. Now I have less than half a tooth there. Somehow he repaired it, putting some kinda plaster or something on it. But as I said, it's less than half a tooth! SO that's fun....yeah.
Today, mom and I went for lunch like we always do on Sundays. I needed to get some things from Sam's Club, and she did too, and while we were there, we both decided to just eat there: Hot dogs, chips and soda, for both of us, for less than $5. Quite a difference from the week before!
On the way home we stopped by a local furniture store who had signs up saying there was all kinds of retirement deals, and all mattresses were 50% off.
The king sized mattress I have now I got back sometime in 2001 to 2003 or so. SO I've had it for 15 years. And I thought I'd just go look and see what they had. When we left there, I had purchased a new king sized mattress for half of it's original price of $1745, and mom left with an electronic recliner purchased. We'll have them delivered sometime in like two weeks. So that'll be something to look forward to!
Tomorrow, Labor Day, mom and Howard and I are having a cookout for lunch at mom's: burger, dogs and such on the grill. Should be a fun time as well.
The program from the Totem Pole.
My front garden, with the beautiful callalillies and the weeds that were growing until Monday went I got out there and ripped them out, and trimmed the bush on the right as well.
First plate at the Bavarian Inn: shrimp, short rib, marinated beef, pepperoni roll and some salad.
The view from our table: we ate on the patio, under a tent, enjoying the view of the cottages and the Potomac River behind them.
Deep fried shrimp, deviled eggs, German potato salad, peel and eat shrimp, the orange goop is the cavier, and I'm not sure what they other stuff was, but most of it was tasty.
And then this is the dessert plate I had. I have no idea what all these thing are, but DAMN they were all soooooo good! And that apple slice there meant it was all healthy, right?
