Anniversary Avengers
Today we have the next in the line of Avengers' members, The Sandman.
Yes, THAT Sandman. The longtime enemy of Spider-Man. He has over time reformed for various periods of time, but returned later to a life of crime. During one of those reformed periods, after helping to save the life of Spider-Man and receiving a presidential pardon, he was made a reserved member of the Avengers. He went on a few missions, but then left the team to join a 'heroic' group of mercenaries, before, eventually, again, going rogue.
Sandman, aka WIlliam Baker, aka Flint Marko, came into contact with sand on a beach that had been irradiated in nuclear experiments. The sand molecules bonded with his own molecules and he gained they ability to turn his body to sand.
In the Marvel Universe, he's appeared in the third Spider-man movie, played by Thomas Haden Church, who played the same character in the Sony trilogy of Spider-Man movies with Tobey Maguire as the main character. As that particular Sandman is from an alternative universe from the 'main' Marvel Cinematic Universe, if the Sandman appears again, he may be played by a different actor.
