So Friday night, after talking to Diego for like four hours, my left shoulder was aching and in pain.

Last year, I had had problems with that shoulder when I slept on it, and the doctor said it was probably the rotator cuff.  He said if it got too painful to let him know then and he could order and MRI.  And then, over time, it just went away and I had no problem at all.

Well Friday night, as I tried to go to sleep, the pain was worse than it ever had been before.  It was burning throbbing pain.  I could NOT get comfortable at all.  I had little strength in my hand to hold thing, even moving a pillow.  Eventually, after several Advil, I did go to sleep.

It was sore Saturday morning, and still as  well, but as the morning progressed, the pain subsided into just being something of a nuisance.  Saturday night, Sunday night and Monday night, it again was little more than a nuisance.  Yes, there was some discomfort, but I wouldn't really call it pain.

Well last night, Diego called again and we talked for about three hours, I think.  And when I turned the phone off, ohmyGod, the pain was back, and almost worse then Friday night!  I went to bed and could NOT get into any position where the shoulder was not in throbbing pain.  That includes every position I could think of in the bed, putting my arm every which way, going to the sofa and even the recliner.  I still could not make the pain subside.  It was constant.

Finally, about 3AM, I took three more Advil, and put an icepack, wrapped in a towel, between my shoulder and the bed and managed to go to sleep until like 630 ish or so.  It wasn't a normal sleep, it as somewhat restless, but at least I got to get some sleep.

This morning, it was stiff again, but just like Saturday, once I started using it and the Advil kicked in, it was relatively painless the rest of the day.   I did go and some Aspercreme and some other muscle rub and I've just put it on the shoulder, so we'll see if that makes any difference.  And I got some 500mg Ibuprofen to take, so hopefully that works as well.

It's GOT to work.  We're leaving for Toronto tomorrow.  I dont know what I can do if I can't sleep while on the trip.  This better take care of it.

Oh, also, I left work early and went to the doctor's office, but he had no time to see me.  But tomorrow at 830, he had an opening, so I'm going there to see if there's something he can prescribe me for the pain/sleep aid.  If not, or if this creme and the higher mg pills help, maybe I wont need a prescription after all.  We'll just have see how things go this evening.

MUCH better than last week I hope.
