SO....

After a four day hate fest that ended in Trump official nomination, what does Trump do in his first speech post-convention?  He attacks Ted Cruz!  WTF?  Ted Cruz, the guy who he forces to withdraw from the race two months ago.  Instead of going after his Democratic opponent, Trump is refighting the nomination battle again.  And he mentions again that Cruz's father may have been involved in the Kennedy assassination?  What is this guy thinking????

As I type this, we're waiting on Hillary's VP pick announcement.  Since last summer I've been saying she's going to pick Julian Castro.  However, Trump himself has done more to drive Latinos into voting for Hillary than Castro ever could.  So she doesn't need to shore up her Latino flank.  The other names being floated now are Tim Kaine, Tom Vilsack and (I forget his first name) Perez.

She's going to pick Kaine.  He's from Virginia, a swing state.  He speaks fluent Spanish (that helps with the Latinos).  He's got foreign policy experience from being on the Senate Foreign Relations Committee.  If he becomes VP, his place in the Senate will be appointed by a Democratic Governor.  He's been a Mayor, Governor, Senator and chairman of the DNC.

He's a middle aged white guy.  Kinda bland.  But he's safe and steady.  And he's clearly ready to be president if something happens to Hillary.  And really, after this week's convention, Hillary doesn't NEED to shake things up, she just need to keep things the same way they are now.  And that's what Tim Kaine does for her.  Not exciting, but definitely a safe and steady and governorable pick.

Today, again, I went out to mom's and we went up to the Manor to eat.  This is the dining area from the village she lives in.  And the food is inCREDible!  I had a salad, delicious.  I had a 7 oz tenderloin (delicious) and french fries with some kind of seasoning (delicious), and afterwards, some Moose Tracks ice cream (delcious).  It's amazing to me that some place in a retirement village makes such amazing food!

There's heat dome settling in over our area.  Blech.  I hate summer and the heat.  Last summer the temp never got over 95 degrees, and I don't think it was over 100 the year before that.  I saw on the news that our last time we had multiple days here over 95 degrees was back in 1999 when we had 11 days over 95.  So far, we've had yesterday and today.  Ugh.  I HATE summer heat.  But I'm DAMN glad the a/c is fixed at work!  And that I have a/c here at home.

My takeaway from the Republican Convention: plagiarism in a speech; Trump's campaign manager dissing the popular (with Republicans) governor of Ohio (when no Republican has EVER won the presidency without winning Ohio); Cruz dissing Trump during his convention speech; Ben Carson saying Hillary communes with Lucifer; Chachi (!!!) speaking at political convention; and Trump yelling and gesturing like the angry old man he is during his speech.

What a disaster.
