Friday at work was okay, nothing great, just basically work. I came home and was online for only a short time when I was contacted on a hookup app. I had chatted with this guy briefly before. But this time, since we were both free, and interested, we agreed to get together.
I drove to his place, and the fun commenced. He actually was cuter than his photo in the hookup app. His name is Abe, he's 21, Latino, educated, and he plays saxophone, clarinet, and piano, and will be going to University of Maryland at some point in the new future. Anyway, after roughly three hours, I returned back home here, with plans to go out to eat with him after work Tuesday. And then I watched the Parade of Nations at the opening of the Olympics!
I went to bed and got to work okay. I was only working half a day, and I had like 8 new clients to take care of! And I got them all done in time. Then, I went out to my car to wait.
Eventually, A Local Celebrity, Mr. David ParisPeking arrived, we got in my car, and off we went. Where did we go, you ask? We went to Bradford PA. This is the town where we (myself and whatever current travel companions I was with) stop and spend the night on the way to Toronto. No ALCMDPP and I were not on our way to Toronto, just to Bradford.
And why did we drive 5 hours through the middle of the mountainous central Pennsylvania? We drove that far just so we could eat the Beefeaters. Yep, that's it. We drove 5 hours just for a steak. But not ANY steak! It's the. Best. Steak. I've. Ever. Had. In. My. Life!
BEST. STEAK. OF. MY. LIFE!
And so when we finally got to Bradford, we checked into the hotel, getting separate rooms, and then promptly walked over to Beefeaters. And the steak was, as always, the Best Of My Life! ALCMDPP has issues with red meat, so he had chicken ("I don't often get to eat in restaurants that don't have clowns or balloons on their menus" - ALCDMPP), but he DID take a bite of mine, and as he did, I saw his eyes open a bit wider and he slightly shook his head, and then admitted it WAS a damn good steak. And then, since I feeling so decadent, I ordered the strawberry cheesecake for dessert (as did ALCMDPP). ("You not gonna eat that last piece of cheesecake? What the hell is wrong with you?" - Polt)
Following the amazing meal, we walked to a grocery store where we got snacks and drinks for later and then returned to the hotel. We went to our separate rooms, and I took a very relaxing shower. Then turned on the TV. ALCMDPP came over a bit later, and we watched the Olympics, were on our phones and just talked for a bit. He was tired and went back to his room about 8. I stayed up until right after 11, and then turned everything off and went to sleep.
Sunday morning, I got up, showered, dressed, packed up and, when he was ready, we put our stuff in the car and checked out. Then, we drove to The European Pastry Kitchen for breakfast (like we do every time we go to Toronto). We got inside and the waitress said we could seat ourselves, "even out on the patio". I never knew they even HAD a patio! And since it was a beautiful day, out onto the patio did we go.
Not only was there a patio I knew nothing about, but there was some landscaping that led to a street and to a bridge over the river too. Great place to have a breakfast on a relatively mild summer morning (temps only in the low 70s, no humidity). And a great breakfast was had.
Following this, we gasses up the car and headed out. And just like everytime, the trip back seemed like 5 times longer than the trip up. But we got home in good time, just about 5 hours.
I came home, showered, unpacked, and spent the remainder of the day in the a/c on the couch, reading, on the computer or watching the Olympics on tv.
Not a bad weekend, all in all.
Oh, and of COURSE, I have pictures.
First thing we do upon arriving, after parking the car? He checks in with the missus. I take a pic of him doing so.
