Well I was wrong.

And I have never in my life been more glad and relieved to say I was wrong.

Democrats DID retake the House.  PHEW.  Not all good news though, they lost seats on the Senate.  So McConnell and tRump still have to more years to fuck with the Federal Judiciary and fuck up the country for the next 30-40 years.

But let's concentrate on the positive!  Come January, Democrats are back in control in the House.  Nancy Pelosi will be Speaker, and Republicans' heads will explode.  Auntie Maxine Waters will be in charge of the committee that can subpoena tRump's tax records.  Colorado elected the first openly gay man to governor.  There will the first two Muslim woman in Congress. And the first two Native American women.  And one of those is a lesbian.  Elected from Kansas.  KANSAS!  WHo could have imagined it?

Speaking of governors, the truly horrid Scott Walker LOST in Wisconsin!  And Gavin Newsome is California's new governor!  He's got a bright future ahead of him.  Florida voters voted to give 1.5 million convicted felons back the right to vote! That should help clear up all the extremely close votes in Florida elections.  Multiple states legalized marijuana.  Voters in two states voted to increase their minimum wage, since the legislators there are too beholden to rich businessmen to do it.

In Virginia, Representative Brat, who defeated Republican Whip Eric Cantor just two or four years ago because Cantor wasn't far right nut enough, was himself defeated by a progressive female Democrat!  Zach Wahls, who a few years ago, testified before a legislative committee speaking in favor of gay marriage and adoption because he was raised by two wonderful married women, is now a state Senator in Iowa.  Beto ORourke lost in Texas by only 2 points, I think.  In TEXAS!  Mid you, Ted Cruz won six years ago by 19 points!  And Beto dropped the F-Bomb on live TV in thanking his supporters!  And the woman, whose name I can't recall, who was the mother of a young black man slain needlessly a few years ago, is not going to Congress too!

We've still got a long way to go to getting America back where she used to be, and we won't do that with tRump in the White House, but at least we've stopped the hemorrhaging.  With Democrats in charge of the House, pre-existing conditions will continue to be covered.  And Medicare and Social Security will not be slashed.  And there'll be no more billions of tax dollars given people who already have billions of dollars in tax cuts.  So those are all good things too.

No it was not a perfect night. And it was not a blue tsunami.  But it turned out a lot better than I feared!
