Today In The History Of Polt's Comic Book Collection
Today we go back 46 years to May 1975 and the Giant-Size X-Men #1!
This is, after Superman's first appearance in 1938's Action Comic's #1, one of the most famous and most expensive comic books in existence. It's the first appearance of the New X-Men.
I didn't get this off the shelves (I was only 7), but I did buy it in roughly 1982 or 83. I bought it from the store Mile High Comics from their catalog (no internet back then of course). I bought it in Fair condition (Execellent, Very Good, Good, Fair and Poor are the condition ratings), and back then I paid $30 for it. Took a lot of saving up for it, but I got it!
The story itself really isn't all that great, and the art, even though it's the revolutionary Dave Cockrum, is rather uninspired, especially for his work. But it's just the simple fact that I own a copy is really all that matters.
Possession outranks quality when it comes to think book.
