Today In The History Of Polt's Comic Book Collection
I just realized today that hadn't done one of these since July! And my goal was to do one a month! So, let's correct that now.
Today, we're going back just 15 years to December 2004, and DC's Identity Crisis #5
This series is a very controversial one in the comic community. Some people think it signalled the beginning of the downfall of DC's quality, others find it an interesting, if disturbing and unusual, mini-series. (I fall into the second group).
Anyway, Elongated Man's wife Sue Dibny is murdered. The heroes go on the offensive to find out who did it. Over the course of the series, Flash's enemy Captain Boomerang is killed in the process of killing Robin III, Tim Drake's, father. It's also revealed the supervillain Dr. Light found his way onto the JLA satellite, raped Sue Dibny, and found out all the secret identities of the JLA members and their family members and friends. So the JLA members there decide to use Zatanna's magic to change his mind by wiping the info away...and making him more of a boob and less of a dangerous villain. And when Batman found out about it, he freaked out and was going to turn them all into some authority for punishment...until they used Zatanna's magic to wipe HIS mind of that info!
Yeah, all happens. A lot of bad, weird shit happens. (oh yeah The Atom's wife, who's he separated from, killed Sue, to try to get back with that Atom. Yeah, she was nuts).
Anyway, I liked it.
