 SO....

Today, mom and I had plans to do some shopping and get lunch.  That's not, however, what happened.

I was supposed to leave here to go to her house at 9:30.  Right before 9:20, she called me.  And she said, "Chris.  I've fallen."

She was at the old folks home out there at the village where she lives, and she was leaving, and tripped over a run and went down.  She hit her left shoulder on a metal railing, then smacked her head on it, and landed on her left knee.

I got out there and she was up in a wheelchair.  But she got up and walked out on her own.  She said the shoulder pain was a 2, unless she moved it, then it shot up to a 10.  She said she needed to go to the Emergency Room.

So I took her out there.   We didn't wait long to get a nurse to take us into a room.  And we didn't wait there until the doctor came in.  He said they'd need to get x-rays and scans of her head and knee.  And then a nurse came in with an icepack and tylenol.  And it wasn't too long until they rolled her away for the tests.

It wasn't long after that that Howard showed up. He and I sat in the room and chatted for a bit, and then they wheeled her back.  And again, it wasn't long until the doctor came in and told us nothing was broken, nothing was dislocated, nothing was cracked, or anything.  She just bruised it.  And she'll have some pain, although it should be easing in a week, and if it's not, then she may want to contact and orthopedic surgeon.

Oh were we ALL relieved!  AND we rolled out of there just about 2 hours after she had first called me!  The ER was amazingly fast!

But of course, the best part is, while she is in some pain (although the Motrin is helping take the edge off), at least its not as bad as it might have been!
