Badass Birthday
In 1890, 135 years ago, Harlan David Sanders was born in Indiana.
After a period of different jobs (including a stint in the US Army), he opened a roadside chicken stand during the Great Depression. Afterwards, he quickly picked up on the idea of franchises and opened the first one in Salt Lake City in 1952. He spent the rest of his life, even after selling the business, being the image of KFC.
In 1950, the governor of Kentucky commissioned him as a Colonel, and then he started wearing the white attire and black tie along with his signature facial hair.
