Today In The History of Polt's Comic Book Collection
Today we travel all the way back to September 1973 and Superboy and the Legion of Super-Heroes #197.
As I was only 6 years old, I didn't buy this one off the stand. Back at this stage, I was buying only Scooby-Doo's and Little Archie comics. But several years later, sometime in the late 70s, I was at a yard sale with my mom and they had three comics for like a quarter, and I got them. I was at that time reading and collecting the Legion.
This issue brought Timber Wolf back, in a new costume, with a new look and a new personality. Dave Cockrum is the artist, which meant nothing to me at the time, but soon after this, Cockrum left the Legion and DC and moved to Marvel and took over a lil title called the New Uncanny X-Men. There's been a lot of talk that Timber Wolf, in looks and personality, was the precursor to Wolverine. But I digress...
A short comic, a wonderfully drawn comic, and one with long lasting significance, concerning Timber Wolf especially.
