I mentioned last week that my cousin had her lil boy Morgan. Mom's been down there in Baltimore helping her since my cousin can't drive or lift things, etc, due to the staples from the caesarian. And today, I went down to visit. Was there for a few hours. He was an amazing baby, not fussy at all. Well, while they ate and I watched him while he laid on the sofa, he did get a little fussy, but I'd tell him, "Hey Morgan, no fussies! No fussies faces allowed." And every time he stopped. Good kid.
And of COURSE I had to take some pics.

well whaddya know? Just one day after the Supreme Court declined to hear the gay marriage cases and opened all those states to same sex marriages, a unanimous US 9th Circuit Court struck down the bans in Nevada and Idaho, adding them to the list!
This stuff is changing so fast I can't even find an updated map of the current state of same sex marriage in the USA!
At any rate, welcome Nevada and Idaho! And the rest of you red states (and Ohio and Michigan), come on in, the water's fine!

How did week 5 go?
1) Washington lost. YAY!
2) Dallas won (barely, but a win is a win). YAY!
3) In the bets with ALCMDPP I was up 5-2, which means in total he owes me $7. YAY!
4) My pic in the winner's pool at work, New Orleans won, although they gave me quite a scare there! YAY!
SO I was 4 for 4...a pretty damn good week!

Going to the chapel and I'm, gonna get married....
So the Supreme Court declined to hear any of the gay marriage cases from the states. That allows all the lower court cases to stand. All of those stated banning gay marriage to be unConstitutional. Therefore, as of this morning, 5 more states now have gay marriage within their borders. How does the map look? Let's see:
What I find very interesting is that it only takes 4 of the 9 judges to grant certiorari and have the Court hear a case. In last year's Windsor case overturning Federal anti-gay marriage, the conservative judges (or what I called Wrong Wing of the Court) voted against it. If all four of them has voted FOR certiorari in any of these cases, the Court would have heard it. Since they're NOT hearing it, that means at least ONE of those Wrong Wing Justices did NOT vote to hear the cases!
Basically, I think by denying to hear them, the Supreme Court has said, "States, stop it. We told you last year barring gay marriage is UnConstiutional, now stop being narrow-minded idiots and let the gays and lesbians get on with betting married!" I'm paraphrasing, of course. But I thinks that's about it.
And so, as of tonight something that even two years ago I would have thought totally impossible, is now true: Two men or two women may finally get married...in Utah. UTAH! Oh and Oklahoma and Virginia as well, but UTAH for God's sake!

BITS-N-PIECES
So I haven't posted in a day or two, cause I've been a smidge busy.
I've been binge watching binge watching the first season of Marvel's Agents Of SHIELD.
And I gotta tell ya, it was surprisingly good. The first couple episodes weren't really that great, but the longer it went, the more I enjoyed it. There was so MUCH for a comic book geek, lots of lil Easter eggs, and subtle references. There was enough 'super heroics' to keep it interesting (SIF!) but not so much that it overpowered the agents themselves. Lots of action. Yeah, there were a few instances of my going, "Pffft, that makes no sense," but honestly, it was all so good, I didn't care.
I'm glad I got the DVD set. I loved the series. And have liked the first two episodes so far in season 2 as well. It's a good show.

Also this week, my cousin had her baby. Eight pound, eight ounce Morgan Andrew, a happy and healthy bouncing boy! His mom is doing well too, despite the Caesarian Section she had. Here's the lil guy's first pic:
Mom's going down next week to spend some time with them and help her out. I'm not sure when I'll get to see him in person, but I'm anxiously awaiting the opportunity!

So, the ParisPeking's had to leave town overnight one night. And they asked me to let Missy, their dog, out after work one day and before the next day. This was surprising because of all the chaos the ensued the last time I did this...refresh your memories about that here. But I figured if they were willing to take the chance on me again, I'd take the chance and do it.
And much to my surprise, the alarm was the least of my problems this time. By means of explanation, allow me to post some texts between ALCMDPP and I after I got home the first time.
POLT: Okay, first of all you have a spider the size of Connecticut in a web at my eye level on your front porch. And it's a good thing he's so huge and my level cause otherwise I'd have walked my face right into that. And that'll be no good for anyone or anything involved. Secondly, I don't think you have to worry about anyone breaking in cause I had a key and I could just barely get in! Jesus Christ, 15 locks on all your doors...sheesh! When I was trying to let poor Missy out the back door I thought she'd piss on the floor because who KNEW there was dead bolt behind the curtain above the handle? A deadbolt that it took every ounce of my strength and a few swear words to actually get turned and open! And Missy only peed once. I tried to get her out in the yard further to pee again or poop but she was having none of it. So, in conclusion, it's with some surprise that I say that the alarm was the least of my problems this time. Assuming of course you haven't already received a call from the alarm company. I'm hoping tomorrow morning runs a lil better but I don't have much hope cause then I'll be doing it all before coffee.
ALCMDPP: Did you get the love note I left you in the drawer?
POLT: NO. Why in God's name would I open a drawer??? Thank GOD I wrote the codes down from the Facebook message before I went there, cause I did not see "all the information on a piece of paper on the desk below the alarm" that someone promised me. Im not gonna root though your drawers when I'm alone in your house. Which is something I'm sure we are both glad about.
ALCMDPP: It's there! In the drawer like I told you.
POLT: You did NOT say IN the drawer, you said ON the deck below the alarm. But don't worry I made it through today....somehow.
ALCMDPP: Drawer under the alarm.
POLT: I get what you're saying NOW, but you said before was on the desk below the alarm. Oh yeah, I got the mail too. I even picked it all up off the floor where it fell in my dash to the alarm to turn it off.
ALCMDPP: Thank you. Why would I leave the code to shut the alarm under the panel for the bad guy to see?
POLT: Because 1) I'm not a bad guy, 2) I'm not a paranoid schizo who thinks people are gonna rob my house the moment I leave and 3) YOU'RE the one who said you'd put it ON the table, not me!!!
ALCMDPP: You are good people, I don't care what Susan (Mrs. ALCMDPP) says. And take a pill, Nancy, it all worked out.
POLT: Look bottom line is Missy's still alive and your house isn't a burning pile of ashes and that's all I promised.
And so yeah, I got that done again for this year.
