Oh, my little soldier boy I'll be true to you...

Saw Captain America 2 tonight with A Local Celebrity, Mr. David ParisPeking.

We both enjoyed it.  It had its faults and it was no "The Avengers" but by and large, it was very entertaining.  Glad to see The Falcon on film, and the actor playing him was pretty nice eye candy too.  And the shirtless shot of the Winter Soldier (with a hairthing) was nice eye candy too.  Come to think of it, Chris Evans is pretty damn pleasing eye candy too...no more so than when his bulging musles are barely contained by a wife beater.

But I digress...

I normally detest car chases and pointless forever shootouts.  But in this movie, I dont know, they didn't irritate me. I love that the movie has starring in it a strong, capable women who isn't there only to scream and be rescued by the macho man.  That's good.  I was surprised to see Robert Redford in it, and even MORE surprised to see Gary Shandling! For a comic book geek like me, I just loved seeing things from comic books: The Falcon, Batroc, Arnim Zola.etc.  And of COURSE the two surprise characters in the clip at the end!  (I actually slammed ALCMDPP on the leg a few excited times when it was over.  Or course he had no idea who they were!)

All in all, I have to say it was perhaps, possibly, overall, even better than the first Captain America.

The previews were for The Amazing Spider-Man 2, which I'm positive will suck, although hopefully not as badly as the first one, Guardians of the Galaxy, which I've already told ALCMDPP that I'm dragging his ass to see, and Maleficent, which we both think we might want to see.  We were also somewhat disappointed there wasn't a preview for the new X-Men First Class, although we're BOTH going to be there opening night.

So in conclusion: Captain America 2: The Winter Soldier: a fun enjoyable ride.
