Best Of....
Today, I'm going to look at the actors who played an iconic British television and we're going to figure out which Doctor Who is The Best?
There have been 15 numbered Doctors (played by 14 actors) as well as the War Doctor and the Fugitive Doctor (I'm not including Billie Pipers cameo after the regeneration at the end of the most recent season).
Of these 17 known Doctors, One through Eight are the Classic Doctors, then after the 10/20 year break there was a 'reboot' and Nine through Fifteen have been shown.
Of the Classic Doctors, I like the Second, the Fourth and sometimes, the Seventh.
Of the Reboot Doctors, I like Nine, Ten, Fourteen and Fifteen.
But of all of these I believe clearly the best one is....
The Tenth Doctor!
Why? The best group of companions, in total, over this run: Rose, Martha, Donna, and I'd even throw in Wilf, Captain Jack, Mickey and once, Sarah Jane. We could even include here Jackie, Adelaide, Christina and of course, poor doomed Astrid.
Clearly the showrunner, Russell T. Davies, was one of the best ever.
And the stories! Of course there's Silence in the Library, The Family Of Blood, Midnight, Turn Left (one of my personal favorite), Waters Of Mars, Journey's End, and what is almost universally considered THE Best Doctor Who episode of all time occurred during his run: Blink.
Now to be fair, I have a theory: whichever Doctor each person is first exposed to, the Doctor who makes one want to turn in each week and become a fan of the show, then that Doctor becomes each person's favorite Doctor. Don't know if this is true for everyone, but it's true for me, as I was drawn into Doctor Who through Torchwood first, and the first episode I saw was Blink. And after that, I had to watch others, and I was hooked!
