Today we have the cover of a comic book Index I actually own, having purchased it in the early/mid 80s. 

Original X-men: Beast, Cyclops, Marvel Girl, Iceman and Angel above them. 

On the right hand side is the new X-Men:   Thunderbird, Sunfire, Banshee, Storm, Phoenix, Cyclops, Professor X, Angel, Colossus, Wolverine and Beast, with Nightcrawler hanging at the top and Kitty Pryde kneeling in the front.  This was drawn by the way by Brent Anderson and inked by Terry Austin.
