Badass Birthday
On this date, 102 years ago in 1924, in Plains Georgia, Jimmy Carter was born.
He was a graduate of US Naval Academy and served on the first nuclear sub in the US military. He was a peanut farmer. He was a Georgia state senator and then the governor of Georgia for one term. And then he was the 37th president of the USA, from 1977 to 1981.
He was a mediocre president, despite many great initiatives dealing with the energy and the environment, diplomacy, human rights, and the civil rights of woman and racial minorities. But he did know how to deal with Congress and quickly lost their support. Inflation was out of control. And there was the Iran Hostage situation.
Despite be a lackluster president he was the BEST ex-president we've ever had. He started the Carter Center which worked for humanitarian issues around the world. He built houses for Habitat For Humanity into his 90s. He was quite a humanitarian doing several things in other countries. He authored several books. And he received the Nobel Peace Prize for his humanitarian works.
He was also the longest living president dying in December 2024 at the age of 100.
Total badass in a humanitarian way.
