Bravo

Bravo, presumably Mexican/American whose only known name is Ruiz, was orphaned by gang violence in Los Angeles.  He was taken in by Astro City hero El Hombre as his sidekick.  However, it wasn't long until Bravo discovered his mentor's questionable tactics and severe moral failings.  So he struck out on his own.  Soon after, in the mid-70s, he founded, with a bunch of other powered street youths, the Astro City Irregulars.  Later as an adult, he lead the Omega Rangers.  He was a skilled acrobat and fighter who wields a bolo and wrist-mounted bolo-firing devices.

I really don't remember much of the character at all, and since this is the only panel I could find of him, I'm thinking he wasn't very prominent in the series as a whole.  But he was there, and he was Hispanic, so here he is here.

Today we're traveling back to October 3, 1955 and the first episode of the 5th season of I Love Lucy!  And the iconic episode "Lucy Visits Grauman's".

Even if you don't know the title, you know the episode: this is where Lucy and Ethel steal John Wayne's footprints from Grauman's Chinese Theater!  They manage to get it, but of course Lucy gets her foot stuck in a bucket of cement.  And later, when Ricky finds out he makes them return it...but they drop it and break it into pieces.

Typical Lucy shenanigans.

Ring through my ears and sting my eyes, your Spanish lullaby (Part 2)...

 Hispanic Heroes Month

Blue Beetle

Jaime Reyes, a Mexican/American teenager living in Texas was the third hero to take the name Blue Beetle, but he was nothing like the other two.  And alien artifact, looking like a blue beetle, landed on Earth near him and attached itself to his back.  Then it covered him in an armored shell which had several different powers and weapons.    And the alien artifact communicates with Jaime as well.

He was created in 2006 and has had his own series but also been a member of, at different times, the Justice League, Justice League International, Teen Titans, and Young Justice.
