I'm just throwing this info out there, take it for what it's worth.
In 2012, I supported Obama, but as the incumbent president, that's no surprise.
In 2008, I first supported John Edwards. My main rationale was that the US was not ready to elect a woman or a black man president, but also because I liked some of the things he was saying about income equality. But after I watched all the candidates answer questions on an interview panel, I changed and supported Obama. Still, Edwards was first.
In 2004, I first supported Howard Dean. When he fizzled out, I ended up supporting John Kerry.
In 2000, I first supported Bill Bradley, just because I never liked Al Gore, and Bradley was the only other Democrat running. But Bradley never got anywhere, so I had to then support Gore.
In 1996, I support Clinton, but he too was an incumbent president, again, no surprise.
In 1992, I think I originally wanted Mario Cuomo to run, but when he didn't and Clinton announced he was running, I supported him,
In 1988, I first supported Gary Hart, but when that all fell apart and Dukakis took the lead, I supported him.
In 1984, I first supported Walter Mondale, and, well......we all know how that worked out.
So in the past 8 Presidential Elections, 7 times the candidate that I first backed (in non-incumbent years), didn't get the nomination, and the one time the candidate DID get the nomination, he lost in a landslide.
This does not bode well for the future, as I've been supporting Hillary for President and waiting to vote for her since November 7th, 2012, the day after I last voted for Obama. I really dont think she's NOT going to get the nomination, and I don't think she's going to lose an election to Donald Trump, of all people.
So i guess what I'm saying (hoping) (praying) is that after all these previous elections, I'm DUE for a change in luck, eh?
