You don't know what you're doing, keep cool, you fool.....

Back in 2012, I had problems with my fridge.  It stopped working, I had to take my stuff to mom's or pub it in a cooler with ice.  Had the guy come fix it.  It happened again, he came again, happened again, he came again....all in ten days or so.  But after that, it's been working fine.

Sunday, I noticed the ice wasn't coming out as solid as it usually did.  And then I checked the temps in both the fridge and the freezer part.  Both were high, the freezer being about 35 degrees.  And some of the frozen stuff was a bit mushy.

So I packed it all up and took it to mom's freezer.  And I got here cooler and came home and put the other stuff in it.  The fridge part was up above 55 degrees or so.  Great.  I told mom I wasn't gonna bother to call a repairman, I was just gonna go buy another one.  A local store, Spicher's, has appliances, and they had one online for $950, after rebate.  I wrote the model number down, checked the measurements and everything, and we decided we'd go Monday morning first thing, like 830.

Monday morning, after getting coffee, off we went.  We got there, and I started looking through the fridges they had.  I knew the one I had seen online was fine, but if I found a better one there, I'd get that.  Good GOD, who knew fridge's went for $1500, $1900, even $2400????  GEEZ!

The salesman checked and said he didn't have one in stock, but he could get one in on Thursday and deliver it to my place Friday.  I was good with that.  He talked me into a 5 year warranty.  I don't usually take warranties, but with my issues with the fridge, I might need it.  And the salesman explained that if I don't use it at all, after five years, it converts into credit that I can use at the store towards buying anything in the store!  So hey, I figured win-win.  Either I get the fridge serviced for free, or if I don't NEED to, I get $150 bucks towards something else.

The process from entering the store to leaving, took us about 20 minutes.  Probably the easier sale that salesman was gonna have all day.

Afterwards, she and i went to a local grocery store and bought some stuff we both needed.  And then we came back.  I was amazed that I had gotten up, ready, dressed, got a new fridge and groceries for the week, and ALL before 10AM!

As an added bonus, when I got home, I checked the fridge.  The freezer was at 10 degrees, the fridge part at about 34 degrees.  SO in other words, it was working again!  *SIGH*  But I don't care, I'm getting the new fridge anyway, cause I want something that's more reliable than what I had now.

Here's the new one, from the webpage, except that mine is stainless steel:
