I would not sell my collection, for if I did, I would cry (Part 112)......

Today In The History Of Polt's Comic Book Collection

Today we travel back 35 years to March of 1990, and DC Comics' The Question #35.

I honestly don't remember this specific issue, but I know I have it because I bought the entire 37 issue run.  It's about Vic Sage was, I believe, a tv reporter but he couldn't do the things he wanted, so he made an identity of The Question.  He put a faceless mask on and sealed it with a special gas that also changed the color of this clothes, stereotypically a fedora and long overcoat.  And he investigated and handled crime that way.

The character was originally created in the Charlton Comics, but their superhero series didn't last long.  And DC comics bought the rights to the characters in the mid-80s or so.  They integrated them into the mainstream DC universe.

In the Watchmen series and movie, Rohrshach was based on The Question and very similar to him.   The series was written by Denny O'Neil who was great at writing these vigilante type of characters.  And drawn by Denys Cowan.  I wasn't a fan of his work usually, it was too...liney, too gritty.  But it worked very very well in this series and I enjoyed it.

Overall, an interesting series, and more interesting character.
