Badass Birthday
In 1924, one hundred and one years ago, in Mission Texas, was born Tom Landry.
Always in a suit and his iconic hat, Tom Landry led the Dallas Cowboys from their founding in 1960 to 1988, at 29 years ties him with Curly Lambeau of the Green Bay Packers as the longest tenured NFL head coaches in history.
But what else did Landry do?
- Taken his team to five Super Bowls (the first team to do so)
- Won 2 of those Super Bowls
- 20 winning seasons in a row
- Regular season record of 250-162- 6 (.605) Ranking him #5 of the list of all time head coach victories
- Post season record of 20-16 (,556)
- Developed the 4-3 defense and the "Flex Defense"
And always a class act, showing little emotion on the field.
Tom Landry passed in 2000 at the age of 75.
Total badass.
