Badass Birthday
On this date in 1491, in Kent England, King Henry VIII was born.
If there is a monarch who had a larger influence on the English monarchy, I don't know who it is.
Separating England from the Catholic Church, creating and being the head of the Church of England. Being the father of three successive monarchs, including the great Queen Elizabeth I. Filling the treasury of England. Increasing royal power by promoting the Divine Right Of Kings.
Of course, he had his negatives as well: too many wars, using royal power to imprison and even execute his enemies, spending lavishly. And of course, there is the beheading of two of his six wives.
I never said he was a good king, just a great king (historical influencing wise).
He died in 1547 at the age of 56.
