 Today In The History Of Polt's Comic Book Collection

Today we go back 25 years to October, 1996 and the publication of DC Comics' Detention Comics #1.

The title uses the lettering of, and is a play on, Detective Comics.  This was the first of a two part mini-series. It's basically a comedy special wherein Robin and Superboy (and I think Impulse in the second part) go "undercover" in school, for some reason.  I believe this was the trial run for a comic they later put our called Young Justice, which started with those three 'kid sidekick" characters.

On the cover here was also see Guy "Warrior" Gardner...I don't remember him in the series though.  I don't remember much of anything from the series except for the cover art.  It was obviously (obvious to me) done by Joe Phillips.  Mr. Phillips has done a whole lot of gay illustrations in many different magazines, calendars, and other things.  I was surprised to see his work here.
