I would not sell my collection, for if I did, I would cry (Part 111)...

Today In The History Of Polt's Comic Book Collection

Today we'll travel back to February 2003 and Marvel's Rawhide Kid #1!

The Rawhide Kid was a character Marvel published during the heyday of Western comics in the 50s and 60s, who, like all Western comics, faded as superheroes rose.  In the 70s, some Avengers got stuck back in time in the Old West and the teamed up with the Rawhide Kid and he became an honorary Avenger.  But after that, he kinda disappeared again.

Then in 2003 there was this miniseries.  I'm not a Western comics fan.  The only reason I picked this title up was because the Rawhide Kid was written as a gay character.  Not a namby-pamby swishy gay, but a sharpshooting tough guy gay man.  It wasn't a great story, I don't recall much of it, but it WAS new and unique.  And back then, I always wanted to support gay comic characters.
